Man I'm jealous of your Portapilot! I wish they'd make one for my Tomahawk!
Next time, stop at the Beechcraft Heritage Museum at the south end of the airport. They have Staggerwing #1 and several other historic aircraft. It’s a very well done museum.
And George Dickel is 5 miles away.
Hey, since you listen to feedback I would advise you add a mic to your setup. Dji mic mini and hollyland lark m2 and there are even off brand cheaper options. Assuming you are shooting on your phone. You have great stuff but it’s really hard to hear even with headphones on. Cheers.
I've been really thinking about grabbing a 150 or 152.... Just for me for flying our building.... But then I was thinking about if I wanted to take other people up but I think I might just if I ever want to do that just rent 172 or something. I'm built like a linebacker so for me to go out with another person it's doable but they got to be light and no full fuel is were in a 152. Lol. Do you have those issues as well?
Love this detailed video, keep going, nice job
Very good scenario, video compilation and camera work and pleasant background music. You earned my sub, great job.
Appreciate that! Glad you enjoyed it.
@@cessna150pilot6Of course
Great video! BTW, what auto pilot is that?
That is the PortaPilot. www.portapilot.com
Thank You
He handled it better than i did lol i still get airsick in small planes
Thank for your response 👍.
Question for you, the auto pilot seems wonderful. Do you regret not buying the dual axis? Does your altitude wonder around a bit?
A majority of the flying altitude is not too hard to maintain. Nowhere near the amount of work as heading is. That said, occasionally I'd like to have altitude hold ability. Still debating whether to upgrade to dual axis or not.
I’ve been contemplating getting this tool as well but lacking direct information from People that actually are using it keeps me still hesitant. I saw your very informative video but I still would like to talk to you in person. Would that be possible? Thanks Hans.
I just bought 3 av30s and a tailbeaconX, got the magnetometer as well. I question if I should of spent more for the Garmin version. Are you going to hook up the AV HSI once it is certified?
The tailbeaconX is awesome, the Garmin can't do that obviously. I've installed G5's and 271s and each has it's plus and minus but the AV30s are still best value IMHO.
I and probably many others would appreciate you listing, in the comments section, the airport identifiers of the route you are flying. I would like to re-fly the same route, as i am always looking for places to fly to.
I like mine, got it months ago, but in my 172 there isn't a practical solution to mount it where I would like to. I use basically a backpack strap through the handstrap and strap it to my leg in the cockpit, vertical wise, and stuff a (clean) shop rag bunched up underneath so that that display orientation doesn't flip on me! LOL.
I'd love more information on the AV30 and the hookup to the EFB. I actually hadn't thought of doing that, but that's a great idea!
Thanks for showing this - I've never seen the tip tanks that are internal to the wing.
Greetings from Maine! I appreciate you taking the time to make this video on a modification that I plan to make to my Cessna 150 one day. I purchased the belly fuel drain after watching your video on that modification. I have a couple questions regarding the auto fuel that you are using. Do you find it more difficult to detect the presence of water in the non-ethanol fuel where it is not colored blue like avgas? Does using this fuel in the O-200 require extra steps such as testing for ethanol? The Petersen auto fuel stc is more in my price range than the tip tanks at this time and is something that I’m looking to invest in soon. I enjoy your channel. This is great content for a Cessna 150 owner. Thanks for sharing this information.
Greetings! Appreciate the comments. I do not notice it harder to detect water with auto fuel, still very visible. I also always recommend testing for ethanol. And make sure you use a station that has a separate pump for the non ethanol fuel. You don't want to use a pump that does different blends. That's really the only things I can think of
I've got a Cessna 150 with the Del Aire 150HP conversion and the 160 pound gross weight increase, and I've been thinking about the Flint Aero tanks. My 150 already has the B&O baggage compartment tank, but it's tempting to switch it out to the tip tanks to get the baggage compartment back. Or just leave them both to take ultimate advantage of mogas.
Sure would love the 150 conversion. I use my baggage compartment too much to want to fill it with a tank though
Especially after eating that huge meal I don't blame you for taking all the available runway you can.
Just got done watching your portable autopilot review, good stuff. If I could subscribe multiple times I'd hit that subscribe button 1,000 times.
Got to love that air traffic controller sense of humor as I think we all knew what you meant to say.
What RPM do you typically run at on the 150? I have been flying 2600 RPM FOR A 110 MPH INDICATED ABOUT 6 GAL AN HOUR I have used 2600 rpm below 3000 MSL for 15 years no issues. Motor company said 2600 is fine
i use 2500-2550, seems happiest about there
How do you like that Yoke Autopilot?
Its been awesome! Kinda getting the spoiled feeling.
I need the adsb and radio I’m 150 nice work
I fly in here often I give the blue van a 10/10 because it seems to always be available lol
Ill try it out!
So damn cool, It's changed my mind about this aircraft!
Great information. Do you have a link to the quick drain part?
Dude you’re saying you don’t have to touch anything during course reversals but your hand is on the trim wheel. Is this 1 or 2 axis?
This is the single axis unit as I mentioned in the video. Once altitude has been reached and it is trimmed out, very little adjustment is needed
Great Review!!! I’m thinking of getting one for my C150M. I do have a couple questions. What made you decide to go with a single axis rather than two axis unit? Are there any airframe logbook entries required for use of this auto pilot?
I chose to go with single axis for 2 reasons. First is funds😊 2nd reason is rarely does altitude need much adjustment. 95 percent of work is horizonal steering. After flying with it for sometime I will admit there is the occasional time having vnav would be helpful but it's rare. There are no logbook entries needed so long as there are no modifications to systems. If in doubt talk to your A&P
Awesome!, I am installing these in a customers airplane right now…thank you…
Vada Grove
😍😍😍
very nice video I appreciate it. I have a Cessna 172N and is thinking about getting one. I have a question since you have the single axis system how do you make your altitude changes? do you disengage the actuator make the change and then reengage? Any information would be greatly appreciated.
There is no restriction on the yoke for pitch changes. you can move the yoke in and out.
@@cessna150pilot6 Excellent, that's good to hear, thank you for the response.
Where did you get the kit for the patroller windows?
This wasnt a kit, it was done under a 337 years ago
the airplane is pulling the concrete off your floor
Great job, enjoy these videos. Just finished painting our Cessna 150J this spring. Working on our interior now. Really like that intercom. What brand/model is it?
its a softcomm put in years ago. Sigtronics I believe makes it now
Very Interesting and Informative Video Sir 👍👌🧐 Cheers 🍻🍻
In your opinion, is 6'-4" too tall to comfortably pilot a 150/152?
no, but straining it. Ive had some 6'1"to 6'3" in comfortably
@@cessna150pilot6 I appreciate it, TY.
Does it have a GPS built in or are you using that Stratux for that also?
It has a built ion GPS but it is getting its info from the Stratux
Enjoy the videos. A buddy and myself bought a Aeronca Chief out of a hangar near where it appears your at a few years ago. Cool airport
Very cool! Thanks for watching!
What RPM setting are you using for that airspeed?
bout 2500-2550
Took all my training in a Cessna 150, never knew of more than the wing drains.
It was same for me!
What GPS do you use?.. is that a program on your iPad ?.. thanks
Ifly 740b, Im now running the IFLY EFB Tablet
For your headset jack panel, did you have to cut away the entire cutout beside the trim wheel for your new headset jack panel or did you just drill holes for the jacks and use the panel plate as a cover panel?
We had to do a cutout. There had been so much stuff installed in that over the years it was a mess. Part of the reason for the panel
Great info! Next time you’re checking one can you take a video of it? I’m sure we’d all love to see a visual of just how much crud can accumulate! Thanks.
Great ! For longer trips I carry a vmax pro and a xiaomi mi 3 (gf). Perfect for the most locations. The vmax is slightly too big but nice to ride tho. Keep loading up your content. Like it. If you are in europe please drop by for a beer 🍻🛴
Too much ! 8 degree is not acceptable. Go for garmin g5's
After the internal mag and updates, mine is rock solid now. have found no need to install the external mag on my application. Happy as can be
Nice review. A bit too close to the yoke. I have the 740 mounted and velcroed to the panel. This is a bit too big and heavy for me.
It is def heavier but Ive not found it to interfere with much of anything. Each panel would be unique
Very Cool👍🏼
Thanks!
