LEAK FINALLY SOLVED in the 100 Series Land Cruiser cargo area
Two years into owning my Land Cruiser, I faced a recurring leak in the rear cargo area. The usual fix of replacing the outside trim didn't work. I found the real culprit: a faulty weatherstrip, especially vulnerable during heavy rain.
In this video, I detail how to identify this leak and properly install a new weatherstrip. For fellow Land Cruiser owners experiencing the same issue, this could be your fix. Enjoy and let me know your thoughts in the comments.

Replacing the driver's door WEATHERSTRIP on a 2006 Land Cruiser
มุมมอง 4.5K2 ปีที่แล้ว
Quick video replacing the LH weatherstrip on my '06 Land Cruiser. Occasionally when driving on the hwy with a crosswind, there is a loud whistle caused by the weatherstrip fitment. There is a Toyota service bulletin about this issue. The fix is replacing the old one (pink clips) with a revised version (yellow clips).

Installing a new RADIATOR on the 100 series Land Cruiser
มุมมอง 13K2 ปีที่แล้ว
With 220k miles on the original radiator, it was starting to show signs of weakness. I hope this video helps others tackle this project too - although a slightly more involved install, I'd say its very doable with moderate skill. Not all of the parts below are required to replace the radiator - in particular, the Fan Clutch, Fan Blade, and Fan Shroud can be skipped. Part numbers for my 2006 Lan...

Fixing the speakers on a 2006 Land Cruiser
มุมมอง 2.8K3 ปีที่แล้ว
This is a quick tutorial of how I refreshed the front speakers in my 2006 Toyota Land Cruiser. The reason I purchased the kit was to replace an audibly blown-out speaker on the passenger side. Doing that project made me realize the driver's side was probably ready for a refresh as well - you'll see how delicate the foam was in the video. if you are doing this as a preventative, will this save your pump from working so that if you ever disconnect it, it will work again?
I take it you don’t live in a rust belt I wish my 06 engine bay looked new like yours does!
Haha true - this LC has been 100% California aside from road trips
Hey man just wanna say how much I appreciate your videos. I’m a diesel mechanic by trade so I’d hope I’d be able to figure these things out on my own but being able to dig through endless junk online and find your very well shot and edited videos has been incredibly helpful. I repaired both front speakers on my 2006 and have been scratching my head over the wet spot in my trunk area and I think this my be the answer. Car has been in the family since new and I want to keep it on the road indefinitely, and having people like you going deep into the weeds is a wonderful thing.
Really appreciate that - thank you!
I’d love to see a pan drop video.
Why does your video say they use different washers when the part numbers for the gaskets are the same?
Whats the part no?
Why did you replace the headlight units? And why didn't you put LED compliant units in as the replacements?
5 Speed Manual.... 😂😂😂😂
Strange thing, I've added 1,3l oil, but it wasn't dripping from fill hole.
What product did you use to clean up the mating surface on the block and half moons?
This is perfect! Bought mine recently and it’s moving so slow that…now they will regularly refuse to go back up, or will refuse to go down. Not ideal so I may just have to throw this in with the regulator and motor while I’m at it
Hi, great video. What format did you buy? What socket for the bulbs? As far as I know, high beam is HB4, and low beam is HB3?
Great video 👍
Do you have a part number for this? Can't seem to find this specific part online
Thank you so much for the quick video. Super helpful to have a version like this with all the fluff cut out
Thanks for great, detailed videos. I just tackled this job today. You’re helping me save money and boosting my confidence to work on my Land Cruiser. Much appreciated.
Perfect video, thank you very kindly 🍺🌞🍺
Thanks for this video! You think I really need a new gasket? I’ve not taken it out yet but the local stores have everything but the gasket
Excellent video, but why did you change the fan and shroud? Also, doesn’t your thermal stat gets replaced every time you do timing belt? I’ve bought the radiator and nothing else will be putting it on next weekend. Hopefully I don’t need anything else. You really go above and beyond❤
❤❤
❤❤
Glad to see I'm not the only one with a tad low oil pressure. Bad sending unit I presume?
Great Video, and I find all your videos are well done. Do you know what it ther difference between "Standard" and "Professional Diagnostic" subscriptions? I also have a 2006 LC. I have not gone onto the site yet so I'm hoping you may know if one can download a copy of Toyota Techstream software to access all the programing and diagnostics. Might you know?
What brands do you recommend for torque wrenches and swivel heads ? Trying to build a good tool set up for working on car/home. Thanks.
Harbor freight is a really phenomenal choice for most tools at first, their torque wrenches are also a ridiculous value at like $15-20 but with better consistency than most torque wrenches up until you’re in the $2-300+ range. A great tip for building out your shop is to buy cheap, and replace whatever breaks first with the more expensive option. That said stuff that spins or is safety related I’d pony up a bit off jump. The kobalt (Lowe’s) brand is quite good as well, they have a 300ish (a bit less, I think 277?) piece “mechanics tool set” on sale for $100 right now that’s gonna be a great general starter set for example. I’d also highly outright recommend kobalt for your impact wrench purchase, they consistently come in at the top in terms of cost/performance. The 1/2” traditional impact wrench has a sale for the wrench, battery, charger, and a bag for $150 right now and it does an awesome job. The 3/8” right angle impact wrench has actually had the highest output of all brands in a lot of testing for again a great value. Best of all if any of your kobalt stuff breaks you just bring it back to Lowe’s and they replace it nice and easy…the regular deals also makes it nice to get some pretty high quality stuff for cheap, got two of their “max output” 4AH batteries recently for like $50. All that said, back to your original question, the torque wrench I got for this specific job, my other one doesn’t go low enough, was a $12 Pittsburg wrench
الله يعطيك العافيه اخوي شكرا لك ❤❤❤❤
That's the middle seats, not the rear 🙄.
Hi I love your video. I’ve had a damp carpet in the rear for a while. So tomorrow I’ll remove the plastic hinged strip that runs across the rear and sit inside with a hose on the top and see if the water is getting in past the 2 seals.. Did you ever apply any chemical to the seal as you fitted it ? Also what is FIPG coz over here in the UK I’ve never heard of it ? Your 5 minute video has given me the confidence to tackle the job It’s people like you that save numpties like me quite a lot of money Ironically I collected my WIFES truck from the body shop today after a corner touch up and I asked them specifically to source the boot leak "?…. No joy they could fine where it was coming from . So I will thank you for your help in advance and I’ll let you know how I got on I’ll now plough through your other TH-cam clips on advice for simple folk like me 😢
FIPG = Form In Place Gasket. You can also use silicon gasket maker.
great job on the video, good variety of shots, and perfect narration. Having done a louse video, I know how much work you put into this to make such a fantastic product. Can't say thanks enough for the effort. I came searching for this, to remind myself of some weirdness regarding the tensioner pulley, and the timing covers interference was it!
Off topic where can I get the rear spoiler light? I can only find the replacement light if I didn't have the spoiler
Thanks for the video…..did you use any anti-seize paste on the spark plug threads? I know that helps me with removal the next time as well as getting a proper torque on them.
I think your video title is a bit misleading. For $20 (currently $25), you get 48 hours of access to the whole FSM via the Tech Info site, but to get the "FULL" FSM downloaded to your computer, you're going to have to spend an eternity downloading all the individual files which would require a ton of patience. I would imagine that most people clicking on this video think they can simply pay $20 and get a complete download of the manual which is not the case. I use Tech Info all the time, but I get what I need for the job(s) I'm doing and that's it. I've never tried to download the whole FSM for any vehicle, because like I said, that would require an incredible amount of time and patience to pull off.
Thanks for posting man, I locked my key in mine awhile back and in the process of breaking into it I made a small gash in the rubber, that’ll definitely fix the wind noise and tiny amount of water getting in
Hi. You mentioned drain plug number 90430-18040 in the description. Isn’t it 90430-19057? Or is this maybe the same size and can be used as well? I found the 90430-18040 as the drain plug for the rear differential. And I am also a little confused about the washer part numbers. Both 12157-10010 and 90430-18008 seem to be the same size for M18 bolts but different shape (simple ring vs. crush washer)? Are these interchangeable? Thank you very much for your superb no-nonsense videos! Well appreciated, two thumbs up.
Like from Brazil May friend… thank you 🙌🏽
Just did tensioner pulley, idler pulley and serpentine belt today. Thanks for the helpful video!
Great vid!
Using a aluminum tray for like Lasagna that's $4 for a 10 pack is actually not a bad idea for this!
I've stared at those lights and their really dirty lenses for years, wondering how you get them out. Haha, thanks for that!
Awesome video.thanks clean engine.what oil do you use.Hello from Australia
Weird question but how do you remove the actual entire door? Just those bolts at the hinges? And do you know if it will trigger any warning lights if all doors are removed?
Do you have the part numbers?
Do you think you could put a link of the tool that you're using to spec the coils the torque on the coilsthat little tool i love it
First off, great video as usual. I also have a 2006 Land Cruiser, so I usually check here before I start a job to see if there are any tips to glean. Regarding the diagnostic mode, I am under the impression that procedure may no longer be used for accurate temperature range when filling the late model Land Cruiser transmissions ('04 - '07). I believe you use the online or downloaded service manuals (based on previous video) which stated the correct interval of 97 - 115 F, but the original range in the printed service manuals state checking at a range between 115 - 130 F. The lower temperature was the result of a TSB (T-SB-0129-08 July 9 2008 Toyota change recommendation to between 97 F to 115 F) issued against several models and years of vehicles. The point is that the diagnostic mode built into the ECM is still using the 115 - 130 F range. As you demonstrated, the light will come on at 115 F and if it exceeds 130 F, it will begin blinking. I ended up just using my Scan Gauge II to read the realtime transmission temperature, but it could also be read in TIS. The higher temperature could result in lower than the currently recommended level of ATF. This is a good link for more details. forum.ih8mud.com/threads/scored-2007-unicorn-the-holy-grail-of-100-series.1043138/post-11645885
Loved the pump recommendation. That made filling the transmission so easy.
I was trying to figure out the handle/lock trim piece for 15 minutes then I decided to TH-cam it. Thank you! Lifesaver!
You're amazing these videos are awesome! Just got a 2000 lx470 this year and once it goes in for a lift ill be doing all the fluids in the driveline. Definitely subbed!
Thank you and congrats on the Land Cruiser. You’re gonna love it!
Where do you buy your parts? (thank you in advance)
Almost always on PartSouq.com. They ship from the UAE and it’s still cheaper than buying domestic. Only exception is for very heavy parts - but things like seals, trim pieces, etc. they’re my go-to.
Hi, thanks for the video. Any long-term experience? Is the leak now fixed even though the weather strips were added without any glue or sealant? Best regards, Jan
I’ve been through many significant downpours now both at freeway speed and stationary - no leaks whatsoever. I was skeptical of the manual not calling for sealant, but seems to not be an issue.
@@LandCruiserDIYThanks for the feedback. I can confirm that my car is still dry in the back after a couple of weeks now. No sealant whatsoever used during installation and car-wash test survived without water ingress.
Crap design.. should have a dip stick.
Would be nice, the earlier models do before Toyota made the move to hermetically sealed transmissions.
Very good
Perfect. Thank you
