Be free to be yourself, by all means. Regardless of your sex, you should be free to express yourself however you want. The part I get confused by is the labelling, as I can't see how viewing the words 'men' and 'women' as being identical to 'masculine' and 'feminine' is a good thing. In fact, I think this is what produces sexism. The word 'man' or 'male' has always related to biology. We call male chimps male because they are the ones that produce sperm and have a specific anatomy; identity isn't a condition to being male, only your biology is. None of that has anything to do with who you are as a person, nor should it. Thus, if you view being male or female as a performative exercise, you are being sexist, as you're inviting those socialised norms of 'females are feminine' and 'males are masculine' more rigidly into your life. Again, you can wear whatever you like, do whatever you like, but as soon as you say 'I don't identify with being male because I like feminine things' that is *you* saying that being male means you have to be a certain way, and I think that's where the problems appear for me, as someone who is opposed to sexism the way no doubt many people here are.

Thank you for making a video that can speak to sooooo many people that feel so desperately alone because of how they feel about their gender. I shouldn't wear a skirt because I'm a guy or get my nails done. Through years of being told what is "right" and "wrong" you are almost made to forget how you truly feel and become ashamed. It’s funny how people say gender identity is made up. So is every word ever. These words, gender queer, non binary, etc. are newer words, but what they describe and represent has existed since the dawn of time. There just weren’t words for them. Example: the elbow. People have always had elbows, but the word elbow didn’t exist until the 1600s and evolved from other similar words, as all language does. People didn’t not have elbows and suddenly grow elbows at the invention of the word. Elbows have always existed. Non binary people have always existed. Our language, the English language is just evolving to have words that describe these people properly.

There was an entire video that I found just bashing all of this, and bashing genderqueer people. That made me so furious how the world is honestly so non-accepting. I'm not actually genderqueer, so I can't say I've had to experience any of this, but I'm bisexual, and so AS A PART OF THE LGBTQ PPLZ, I WAS EXTREMELY DEFENSIVE xD I have a bunch of genderqueer friends aswell so to listen to some guy talk shit about all of it made me really upset. Everybody deserves love, and to be respected for whatever decisions they make, and it doesn't matter if other people 'agree' with them, or not. Quick clarification: Just because you denounce or choose to act like or dress like another gender does not mean you can classify as a new gender. You can definitely *identify* as gender queer, go ahead, but in no way does that make you a new type of gender. There are only two genders: Male and Female (No, non-binary is not a gender it is the absence of one). Also for those who may bring up the point that sex and gender are two different things, they are not, just different words that mean exactly the same thing, search it up on the dictionary. If you really please to say that you are "gender-queer" or any other gender Tumblr fed to you, go ahead, but Gender is classified by sex organs, so if you desire to switch from male to female you have to switch those out (A quite simple procedure). You can easily identify as anything you want, but when it comes to gender, you have only two choices. Thank you and have a nice day.

First of all, I am sorry if you get harassed by people for the way you are, that is wrong and pointless, regardless of any debate on the issue. However, the thing which always puzzles me about "genderqueer" people is that they seem to have very superficial ideas about gender. Experimenting with heels or bowties is not exploring masculinity or femininity. These are just superficial theatre games. I don't know what you mean by the fact you feel "feminine" inside, but it's hard for me to really believe it is anything like how I experience my biological femininity. Your hormonal cycle doesn't move in the mysterious rhythms mine follows, you don't bleed and suffer, you will never know the sacrifice and joy of nurturing a baby through your breasts. You don't know anything about the curious and strange experience of discovering you have a hole in your body instead of a penis like other little boys. You don't know what it's like to have a man inside you through that hole, act that magnificently sums up the idea of a perfect and simple union you always had vague dreams about when you were younger. You will not have the pleasure of discovering and exploring the changes a female body and psyche go through over the years; changes you could never have expected or anticipated, because nature is wiser and greater than you. On top of all this, you will never know what it's like to be truly masculine either, to follow the path set out by your own biology. So here you are, suspended in a land where you are neither one nor the other, a sort of very colourful phantom, trying desperately to flaunt externally what cannot really exist internally. Is this really life? Or is it rather the refusal to really live it as it is, with its necessary limitations and destiny? I hope you find a way out of the maze of your own sorrow and come to realize that by being neither male nor female, you are not freeing yourself from a prison but condemning yourself to nothingness.

So if someone decides to wear a mask or a costume regularly to represent an animal like ... well... lets say furies for example ... have they suddenly created a new gender we should call them by ? what if you can't tell the sex of the person wearing the costume or the species of animal they are supposed to be? are we going to need new species / gender neutral pronouns for that too ? what you wear does not create a new gender - there are only two genders because they are based off of the two sexes - male and female
