There are many sides to every story, & somewhere in the middle is the truth. There are always different perspectives of each event, depending on each individual involved. Were Gene & Paul really heartless? Maybe they were, but doing what they perceived best; however, Eric perceived the situation differently. Hindsight is always 20/20. Since I'm just an observerr, I don't really know. Perhaps the best solution would've been to take both Erics along for the albums & tours. If Eric C. couldn't function b/c of his illness, then Eric S. would've taken over. If Eric C. needed to go home for treatment b/c he'd taken a turn for the worse, then KISS already had a replacement of sorts to take over. They could bring Eric C. back once he was feeling better. How much more would it have cost? &, at the risk of sounding morbid, if Eric C. was to step into the Light while performing, well, passing with his drumsticks in his hands while doing what he loved, would be like dying with your boots on. What a way to go!! Left this Earth way too soon. 😭😭😭❤❤

EVH was such a huge part of my life growing up. I graduated from high school in 1985. So I grew up on Van Halen. My first concert was VH at Selland in Fresno California on their 1980 Invasion Tour. It was absolutely mind blowing. I saw VH 9 more times in concert over the years and actually met Eddie at a show in 1984 in Albuquerque NM. I was nervous as hell but he was so cool and down to earth. I'll never forget that day. There is only a handful of artist/bands who have had an impact on music who's influence will last well beyond our life time were absolute game changers and will be talked about, praised and revered a hundred years from now. Edward Van Halen is one of them. And in my opinion the greatest rock n roll guitarist of all time, bar none. As a US Army combat veteran i've seen the worst of humanity and I've lost close friends from the effects of war and I've lost close family members over the years but I've cried only 2 times for people that have pasted away. The first was my dad the second was Eddie Van Halen.

Their 2000 albums were much heavier musically than eighties albums.

I’m an old geezer so I’m going to get some blowback for this. But I grew up listening (retroactively to 60’s rock), and 70’s rock. For me the 80’s were a wasteland musically for rock -particularly the so called hair bands. To me their music lacked soul and authenticity. The singers were all trying to out do each other with high pitched vocals, which was a shame because some of those songs had grooves in them. But there can be no doubt that when alternative rock hit the radio, it immediately and I mean immediately killed those 80’s bands. The new bunch had soul and in some cases sounded like garage bands. And I mean that as a compliment. It was so refreshing to me to hear music that once more sounded unpolished and full of passion. So let there be no doubt that alternative rock absolutely crushed hair metal overnight and immediately…no matter what else was going on with these bands.

This was good thank you for an informative video with no bias or negativity. I see so many videos about what a bad guy Eddie was, how u fairly he treated Micheal. Maybe it's true maybe not but we aren't supposed to speak ill of the dead, especially if that person gave so much joy to the world. Ed had his demons we all do, some are darker than others. May he rest in peace and return in glory.
