How to trim in front of a dogs eyes and sanitary area
มุมมอง 4K4 ปีที่แล้ว
In this video I show you how to use thinning shears or a clipper to trim away the hair in front of your dogs eyes and then how to shave the hair away from around the anus. Although this is demonstrated on a Shih Tzu the techniques shown will work on any breed. This video is for educating and I do not recommend anyone take sharp objects to an animal unless you feel confident and capable you can ...

In many states and counties dog groomers have been forced to close due to the coronvirus threat, keeping your dogs free of mats and tangles will keep them comfortable until they can next be fully groomed. I made this video to help you learn how to properly and safely maintain your pets longer coat and how to brush out matted hair. I will teach you about tools to use and proper technique. I star...
How to trim your dog's nails at home, step by step walk through
มุมมอง 3254 ปีที่แล้ว
I made this video to help my clients and other pet owners to confidently trim their pets nails when they cannot make it in for professional care. Many groomers are unable to work right now because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Find a quiet time and position your pet on the floor, couch or bed. If you have a smaller dog and a second person, a tabletop can be a more ergonomic option. Have handy nail ...

    You have the biggest heart and such a gift for patiently and lovingly helping sweet animals in need of special attention, Carrie! This made me tear up with happiness. She looks beautiful! I remember reading Chloe’s story on Dogwood’s Facebook page and felt so sorry for this precious darling who lost her pups. Thank you for helping to make a difference, one caring groom at a time. 🐾❤️

    I’m new to your channel but I love how sweet & gentle you are. I like your personality & teaching methods. I’ve purchased sooooo many grooming tools but I’m still scared to death when I do the sanitary area!!!! ☹️ I’ve heard you shouldn’t do it up & down & that you should go from side to side. 🤷‍♀️I’m just afraid I’m going to hurt my furbabies so I still pay a groomer & ive got 5 dogs! 💖

      Hi Kim, I am new to my channel too, lol! Thank you for your supportive words. It's natural to have some fear when trimming these sensitive areas, we don't want to hurt our dogs. The most likely way you would injure your pet during a sani trim is if they were to sit down on the blade so I can see why you have been advised not to go up and down. In my experience the hair grows in many directions around the anus so it takes a few different angles to remove the hair but I encourage doing what you feel works best for you, even if that means hiring a groomer. I see now I should have explained better that as I lift Emmy's tail I am gently holding her in place and I am prepared to back my clipper away if she starts moving. In that moment I would reassure her, set her back in the position I need and praise her for holding still. Thanks for watching!

    What are your thoughts on a dremel type of instrument, that grinds/files the nails vs. trimming?

    • @GroovyGroomers
      @GroovyGroomers 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for your question! I think they can be a great tool in some instances. I personally don't use them often as I have lung issues and do not want to breathe in nail debris all day. After trying both tools I found that most dogs tolerate trimming better and I am able to trim off more length quicker. Alternatively I have worked with some dogs are fearful of nail trimming but tolerate a dremel with ease. I really like how smooth a dremel leaves the nail tip but a 5 minute concrete walk after trimming can smooth nails out as well. It's all about doing what works best for you and your pet.

      Something I do to help to do a face quicker is use a guard to take the hair off and give the shape of the face that matches his own shape for his length i would maybe use a 0g and run it down the cheeks under the chin and even skim or normally run over the muzzle too it makes the face so cute then i just scissor and thin/blend some spots I wish i could put a picture of a pup i did on here but it comes our a perfect teddy hair shorter length face! I hope that helps

    This is exactly what I was looking for! I like my dog short and neat, and I've really gotten lost on how to get the correct shape for this cut. I have a cavachon, and most of the photos I've found show messy, overgrown coats. Thanks!
