Blades of Glory makes learning History fun! Come to our interactive theme park for school trips, or in the summer. As you walk through our gates and you enter our ancient world, the modern world gets left behind. You will see such wonders as a working siege engine (Trebuchet); excavation site (digging up Artefacts);Medieval Punishment techniques; Viking encampment; First Nations Hoop Dancing; Axe Throwing; Fur Trade merchant; Voyageurs encampment; Reptile or Falcon Mews; Evolution of Armour; Ancient Weaponry and ultimately you and our Monarchs for the day get entertained by Knights in Combat OR the Vicious Viking Wars.
Blades of Glory has many shows that travel to festivals. Medieval Fighting shows with various Knights, Viking Battles with our vicious Vikings and also our Interactive Story, from our spinners of Stories.
Blades of Glory has something for all, both young and old, from the advanced history student to the imaginative mind of a child.

2024 Year in Review - Blades of Glory
2024 was an amazing year for Blades of Glory. In addition to running festivals (Hastings Medieval & Hastings D&D Festivals), we also had many sword fighting shows. We ran our Educational Medieval Park for Grade 4 year-end school trips and opened up our park for other events throughout the summer in Hastings, Ontario, Canada. We hosted our HEMA tournament, which attracted competitors from as far away as Hong Kong and China.
We were excited to open up our park in October for the 2nd year for our Haunted Medieval History guided tour.
We created a couple of new events: Medieval Christmas Market (in November) and a weekly D&D event at an amazing Gothic style church.
Blades of Glory has a great group of dedicated people plus a great group of sword fighters (HEMA, Armoured Combat, & students) who make Blades of Glory an amazing place to work.
We are looking forward to 2025!

I seen one of these in Norfolk County way way way back. I loved the bird the most though
Raptors are amazing creatures. Seeing them up close is such a treat. We have had about a half dozen different falconers at our shows over the years. It is quite the art. Dedication and devotion (and skill) is required to handle these birds.

Seems more like fencer vs buhurt, fencer has precision and moves while buhurt is more about getting your enemy on the ground no matter what

It is a bellows helmet. It is 14 gauge. We picked it up at "Warriora and Wonders" from British Columba in Canada. If you are in the USA, you can find it at "Kult of Athena". The 16 gauge helm does not hold up, it will crack.

Where about do the classes take place is it i the city of Peterborough or is it at your establishment
We are renting the Peterborough fencing club building (on Rink street) every Friday from January to May 2019.
We also have classes in Hastings/Campbellford every Sunday
Scoring goes as follows... Edge (not flat) of your weapon must hit your opponent on the head, torso, arm (above the elbow), leg (above the knee). It must be a hard enough hit. Each hit scores you one point. Most points at the end of the fight wins.

who are the Vikings in this Video?
They are members of Blades of Glory. It is telegraphed fighting (not choreographed). Blades of Glory teaches History to students in Ontario Canada, from Grade 3 to Grade 7. Pioneers, Ancient Civilizations, Medieval Era, Canadian History - from the Viking era 1000 C.E. up to 1713 C.E. We also teach High School students (Ancient Civilizations). Blades of Glory has 2 educational theme parks: Ancient Civilizations & Canadian History.
Blades of Glory usually does full contact sword fighting (no grappling and no thrusting). The Viking combat is not full contact BUT is telegraphed, no fake swings - just big sweeping strikes.
Have you ever thought about inviting the Torvik Vikings to one of your events? they are a local Toronto based group that also does non choreographed but not full contact combat.
Funny you say that ....as we also run the Hastings Medieval Festival on Labour Day Weekend in Hastings Ontario. Its on September 2 & 3 this year. I have been in contact with the Torvik Vikings, speaking with Einar - inviting their group to the festival. Our conversation is going very well. It is a strong possibility that they will be coming. Thank you very much for the suggestion. At last year's festival we had 5 different sword fighting groups. LARP, SCA, Fencing club, HEMA group, and us (Blades of Glory). Each one has a different fighting system. It was great to see camaraderie and not animosity.
