Hey it's yours do want you want to each his own the first thing I do is take off the pickgard
good idea, I might get a plain black one, the short guard, and keep this one new looking.
Sounds really good! Really good tone. What are you using for tone ect.
Waaa i legit thought this was a gibson when looking at the body ! Its unreal. Beautiful work. You nailed it. Thank you big time for that video. You’ve convinced me to try that with my tobacco burst 59 reissue . Ill keep u updated. I have to buy that lotion youre using. Then ill get to the frets. As its gonna be the more time consuming thing…. Like you said for a 1300 guitar the frets were good out of the case. But they could use some work. Its kind of a bummer that for that price they’re not perfect as is….
It's funny, I had no clue on how to do things, I looked on youtube for the aging ideas (but I ended up doing my own procedure, and the Gibson stuff , I just figured it out on my own, the first one I did I had to scrape it all off and start over, but I'm 70 yrs old and I don't have fear , I figure they're mine and I'll do what I want. I've done 4 of them so far, I just did the top on my new ES 355, that was a crazy 7 hours easy to get the semi-shine. I just did a video on that also
@ all those extra hours mustve been worth it in the end isn’t it? Everything is paying off. When you do things your own way , take the risks , acknowledge them and then have the outcome you sought i think its worth it. It’s gratifying in the end ! I cant wait to try the novus 2 on mine. I ordered it. Just waiting on it to be delivered. Then ill spend some time in the garage for sure ! 👍 Oh i was thinking of changing the neck pickup to a classic 57 , dont get me wrong the custombuckers are great. But ever since i tried my roommate Gibson LP TRADITIONAL 2016 i was envious of that creamy sound . So im gonna be spending quite some time on my guitar. You know to make it officially mine and to suit my taste. Then ill have to work on my EPIPHONE SG STANDARD IBGCS. Ill probably use the custombucker that im gonna swap with a 57 for LP on my SG. I think its gonna be a huge step up from the stock pickup alnico classic pros .Thank you for your advices you’re inspiring !
@@salimel4835 just remember to have the guitar flat on a surface, with the headstock hanging over the end, same thing when you flip it around to do the other side, don't have the guitar in a neck stand at all, pay close attention to everything I said in the video
@@Clayton-t5i i will. Thank you 🙏
Hello Clayton i bought the Epiphone 59 tobacco burst with the gibby headstock. Its a very well made guitar. Although i wonder if its really a 2 piece guitar. Anyway what can i do to smoother the frets that i find a bit rough ? And im interested in getting it glossy looking. Can you help me achieve this ??? Thank you ! Keep rocking and know that i love your extravagant personality. 😂 always a pleasure to listen to you talk about guitars.
where do you live? what state?. I bought a nice fret end file, there's a method to using them correctly, and I polish the top of the frets with 0000 steel wool, there's a little tool to put over the fret to protect the fretboard when you polish them, you have to tape over the neck pickup so no steel wool fibers get on the pickup. The top is a huge project if you want to do it right,

@@Clayton-t5i thanks a lot im watching that video as of now. I live in France by the way 😂
@@salimel4835 be careful doing this, it requires a lot of pressure as you rub it in, keep an eye on how it's lookin as you go, good luck, dont use a machine, you'd be at risk of going through the finish and ruining it. I used a machine on the backs of mine, sometimes the satin is thick and full of orange peel , and that would have to be sanded, don't use anything more than 600 paper, I did , 800, then, 1500, then 3000 then the Novus 2 on the backs, it's a lot of work, but I love it.
@@Clayton-t5i but if i just want to make it shine , do i have to sand it first (at all) ? Or could i just rub on that novus 2 lotion on both the front and rear of the guitar and ultimately get the same glossy results you have ?
Congratulations! Enjoy it!
thank you

thanks man, I'm O.K., however, my wife just fractured her knee yesterday. It's all good, I take care of her. She's strong and will recover quick
Are you in Maine or Mass? you sound like your a New Englander. Good Stuff my friend.
Looks and sounds great. I prefer the polish you gave it, vs. factory dull. My only "Karen" comment is that such rebranding as that should include a large stamp or deep carving of "FAKE" into the back of the headstock. Something undeniable to even the untrained eye. Would hate for someone down the line to try to pass it off as real.
that whole "fake" thing is BS, several people commented on that. It still has the original ser# and double diamond logo, that is unmistakeable and can't be faked. I advertised a couple of them for sale and the caption is " EPIPHONE IGC ,59 LES PAUL", and it's in the description paragraph with every detail of the guitar, making it advertised clearly as what it actually is, stamping it would be foolish. I could put it back to original if I really wanted.
Enjoy your TH-cam journey, my friend. You sound like you're in my kneck of the woods, Newengland. New Subscriber 🎸

What’s the process of doing the Gibson logo and Gibson style truss rod cover? It looks factory, well done!
I explained it in one of my videos, it's a 2 day job, sometimes 3, just the prep for a Gibson truss rod cover is extensive, then the surface, black wood putty over the glued in piece of wood for the truss cover, and fill in the 3 screw holes. let that dry for at least 3 or 4 hours, then snad the whole face of the headstock with 600 (obviously you have to remove the tuners and bushings, thats a little deal with those bushings. Then create your label or whatever method you decide to do to create the Gibson les paul model logo. Spray over the surface a couple light coats of shellac, let it dry for several hours, depending on what kind you use. Sand it lightly with 600 again, wipe the surface clean with a tack rag(100% clean), Then spray the surface with a light coat of a urethane type clear. (make sure you don't use anything with a petroleum base). These guitars are a water based urethane, so whatever you use needs to agree with that or you F up your guitar. Spray a couple coats again one after another light coats,. Let it set overnight again, sand the next morningwith 600 again. A couple more light coats, then a final sanding, 600, then 800, then 1500, then 3000, then Novus 2 (you have to do the Novus 2 wipe on rub in wipe off, like within seconds or it might eat the clear, anyway after you like the look, re-install the bushings, and then install the tuners, restring it. I left out some things like masking the whole rest of the guitar when you're ready to spray, and maybe I did another procedure of a couple coats, I might have 8-10 coats, I don't really remember, I just kept doing it until I felt I had enough on there to do all the sanding and Novus.
Great job. Out of curiosity, you mention about selling them. I am assuming they will be listed as Epiphones with upgrades if the Gibson logo is added. Fantastic job.😁
of course, one is for sale, posted it like this.... "2024 Epiphone '59 Les Paul", then I put in the description exactly what it has and what I did
@@Clayton-t5i , that's good.👍
Ok I’m trying to understand the modes so in your example about being in the key of B. If the band specifically says they are playing a 1-4-5 B maj progression. Can you simply play along in B E F# and is that progression another way of saying B Lydian and B myxolydian? Thanks. Btw, you have some seriously awesome guitar skills.
there's many variables in that. It would sound absolutely lame if it was just a Bmaj, Emaj and F#maj. I would never use that for a progression, however I would use alternative chords for each, such as a B dominant7 chord as the root, and then maybe an Emajor(maybe, and an F#dom7(Maybe), and over that I would use B mixolydian scale a lot (that comes from Emajor scale blocks), but there's many other things I would touch on in a groove like that. You want to find out of the predictable box stuff always along with the predictable. In the end it has to sound cool.
Good stuff. Thanks for sharing.
Find what you are good at and expand on it, words to live by👍😎👍

good, I hope you do
Hi, noob question: When you move up and down the frets playing off of the E mix, are you playing different scale shapes/positions in A major or just one A scale shape? I know the major scale shapes just figuring out how to use them. Thanks.
yes, in A, but also Eminor penta and Emaj penta sometimes , whatever sounds good, I don't lock into just one thing ever, E mixolydian is Amajor, but I do other things so it's not too much of the same thing all the time,
@@Clayton-t5i ok thank you! I’ll will work on it. Sometimes I lock into one thing. I gotta start mixing it up using maj and min penta as well. Like you said, play what sounds good.
@@jjlbridge7877 I got that "sounds good" from Yngwie Malmsteen, he said" you can play any notes you want, if it sounds good then it is good"......lol. But the scale positions help tremendously, because when you learn each "block" or "position" of a key, you hear what each one sounds like, and it gives you more stuff to use.
@@Clayton-t5i that’s good info, thanks. today I worked on the major scale and the chords that correspond to each shape/position. Also moving up and down the fret board rather than diagonally. I use my circle of 5ths to put together a decent chord progression. Now I just need to mix in a little creative, lol. My biggest challenge are the modes, Your vids help with that. Thanks again.
Really cool! Are you playing pentatonics or the natural scale? Thanks.
some of everything, some major penta., minor penta, dorian, mixolydian.....etc
Man Clayton , you where on fire tonight 👍😎👍
