Here is a quick teaser of my 562xp before & after porting. Wow! I did not expect these results! Same bar, chain, and wood. I'm very happy with this. Definitely the strongest 60cc saw I've ever run!
Husqvarna 545 - Ported 😮 Was it worth it?
มุมมอง 1.1K5 หลายเดือนก่อน
I run through a series of videos and explanations comparing this newly ported 545 to my stock muffler modded 545 and my stock muffler modded 562xp. Is the little ported 545 strong enough to run with the 562xp?

Reminds me of a John's custom saws Limb Reaper. Nice work! It rips!
Stock saw??
Yes sir… only thing I did was a muffler mod.
1/4 or 3/8lp?
.325LP
What’s the longevity like on these clone saws?
Not bad at all if you take care of them. I wouldn’t recommend them for daily professional use, but anything else they’re not bad at all. As long as you keep up with the normal stuff like always keeping a good sharp chain, clean the saw & air filter after each use. If you take care of it, it will take care of you.
I want to know how to buy one of these ?
Believe it or not, I bought that saw wrecked, the previous owner had a tree fall on it. Once I got it all back together, I decided to port it. If you look around, you should be able to find a used one for around $700 - $800. Then send it out and have it ported or port it yourself. Thx for commenting 👍🏼
@@Kirks_Custom_Chainsaws. Thanks I have ported a few saws..was the 400c east port or not ?
@@dannohr2618nah, not difficult at all. Just like any other saw.👍🏼
@@Kirks_Custom_Chainsaws thanks man!
What in the heck, son! Crazy bro. She don't get too hot or... geez, that's insane 😅
She’s a screamer! For normal use I have it outfitted with a 28” Cannon DuraLite SuperBar running full comp. Pulls it like a dream. Thx for commenting 👍🏼
The sucker punches above its weight
Yeah, a little bit…😂
Thank you brother!
You say "Stand By" alot. Not alot of guys do that.
Thank you brother!👍🏼
Beast of a saw👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Thank you brother!👍🏼

Yes sir!👍🏼 thank you!
Good job Kirk
Thank you!
Yes! Top on crack!
Thank you!
Unreal....get rid of that paper filter...oil filter Gordy. ..hose clamp
Ha! Yeah definitely! I’ve never used one of Gordy’s. I usually get mine from Nick at RBS, or Jason Egan. World of difference. Yeah this 261 has a good life now, foam filter, ported, and runs a 28” full comp easily!
@@Kirks_Custom_Chainsaws I run 462 with gordys oil filter..best saw filter setup on market..never bought 261 0r 400 yet beleive they run same hose clamp style filters..not a fan of the max flow but it's only option for my 500i, s...the egan is never in stock..I do run egan straight shot on my ported echo 2511t...as far as different ones louder ..that's it. Red beard does good porting .but Gordy is the man when it comes to fabrication......Aaron Lynch did my 3 saws..the echo 2511t..s...got mine before the price jump been running them with stihl 14 inch polesaw bar and chain 0.43 since I started buisness 6 years ago or 7..on my 2511t s .......
@@Sethhaun78 that’s awesome man! Yes, the 261 & 400 are both hose clamp style. I have a red beard in my 462 also. That’s crazy that you can’t get the Egan filter, I went right online and ordered it and it was here in 3 days. If you haven’t checked out the 400, watch the short I posted yesterday of my ported 400. It’s an animal, anything from a 20” to a 42” and everything in between. Only downside is I have (2) 400’s so once I port the other one, I don’t see my 462 getting used much.
@@Kirks_Custom_Chainsaws is the 462 ported?also or for sale the 400 to...or what..also i was talking about last time I wanted 500i filter they were out
Gotcha, yeah, online orders are hit & miss depending on stock at that time. I have not ported my 462 yet, hope to get to it and my 500i this winter 🤞🏼 And no, I’m not selling any of them yet.😅
Can never understand it😢
Doesn’t make sense how people can neglect something to that extent 🤷🏻♂️
@@Kirks_Custom_Chainsaws my partner dropped my 462 out of bucket 60ft other week..I was so sick from heat 100 degrees and my liver I couldn't even look.at it took it apart and so far only thing I see broken is the yellow wire that goes to ground and the carb ..computer..it's toast.visualky can't see anything else but won't know yet
Man that really sucks! Just be glad no one got hurt! I hope you get it fixed up & running gains soon!
No bog with a big bar, well done. Whar numbers did you go with. I planned to port mine until I run it and then Im wondering "why bother". Great saw
106, 127, 80. I’ve been thinking about going back in and changing them, but I just don’t have the time. And, I don’t think I’ve run that saw since I that video. 🤦🏻♂️ Way too many other saws to run.😂
😮
Idk I’m really skeptical I tried the mk ii and man it was a disaster from day one but I will say cosmetically and ergonomically wise Husqvarna wins hands down
Yes, I’ve heard the mk II saws were not all that great. What type of issues did you have? A friend of mine has 2 of the mkiii and at first, he was less than impressed to say the least. I told him about the results I had from just a muffler mod so he did both of his. He said after the muffler mod, they are different saws! He’s very pleased with them now. I’m anxious to port mine in the near future, but I’ve been so busy, I just haven’t had the time.
love it :)
Thank you!
👍👍✔✔
I need that pipe :-) who’s making them
Thank you! I make them for a lot of my builds.

@@Kirks_Custom_Chainsaws I’m in Maine you ?
@@AaronMorgan-g9h Pennsylvania. What saw are you wanting one for?
Man i have the exact same saw and having troubles gettin it tuned.. any tips?
Could be a couple different things. Some of the carbs are very temperamental. Set both screws at 1-1/4 turns out and try tuning from there. If that doesn’t work, check the metering arm in the carb. A lot of them are not set properly. Also, check spring tension on the metering arm spring. A friend of mine figured out that a lot of the Chinese carbs have too much spring under the metering arm. If this is the case, typically cutting 3 coils off the spring will fix it. Lastly, these saws are notorious for air leaks. If you have any way to perform a pressure test and a vacuum test, I would start there. Even a slight air leak will cause a saw to not tune right and or run out of tune quickly. I hope this helps! Saw safe & let em know how you make out.👍🏼
@Kirks_Custom_Chainsaws thank you for the help. I think everything is OK on air leaks and all, it will try to start and run I have had it almost running and it was ripping just wouldnt idle right but my poor ol arm got tired of cranking on it lol will start at 1 1/4 turn and go from there. Also will check the spring. I used to have a good local saw shop I used but (she actually has a pretty damn big channel "chickanic" with like 500k subs i think) but they closed down recently unfortunately. My first time tuning a saw starting from complete shite. I have tuned before but they were already running, just poorly. Thanks for advice will keep u posted
I need a muffler for my 545
Yes! If you are still running the stock muffler, you definitely need to modify it or build something for it. Get that heat out & let it breathe. They run like a different saw with a muffler mod! My ported & muffler modded 545 runs a 24” 3/8 drive full comp all the time. It will pull a 28”, but I like the balance better with the 24”.
@Kirks_Custom_Chainsaws my lil 355t has an Egans straight shot and it really woke it up. Some people complain about the noise but never customers and the difference is night and day in the cut
But Stihl rollmatic es light is not solid like rest of them Its laminate and hollow inside. Stihl always like to be unfair with everybody weight if that bar is small but not that durable like husky or sugahar or tsumura or even gb titanium.
Thank you for your comment.👍🏼 Personally, I have had very good luck with the stihl light es bars. I will definitely be keeping an eye on them though. Thank you for the information !👍🏼
Thanks 4 this video. Where do i get this black muffler with the side pipe from? 🤔 do u made it by yourself? Sounds good 👍 i like it! Greetings from Germany ✌️
Thank you and greetings to you too!👍🏼. Yes, I make those muffler cover plates myself.
I can add 2 to your database. You didn't mention gauge. 24" .050 guage husky mount versacut 2lbs 8.63 oz 28" neotec .058 gauge husky mount light bar 3 lbs 1.9 oz
Great! Thank you! I just picked up a 24” tsumura premium light bar, but I haven’t had a chance to weigh it yet. I’ll have to update when I do.
All the bars shown were 3/8 pitch and .050” gauge.
Never seen that, very cool!
Thank you!
NICE VIDEO
Thank you!
How does the cylinder and piston look on these pro model saws? They claim to use upgraded components to the standard g372xp, wondering if they are lying to us
They are a bit better than the standard ones. They’re not OEM quality, but they are pretty nice. I’ve ported a lot of them and they have all held up very well. Hope this helps!
@@Kirks_Custom_Chainsaws thank you!
Time will tell.. The 201 if kept sharp and maintained like a saw should be will last a long long time. Faithful like the 200t. I hope these mkiii 540’s do as well since now I have 2 lol 😆 so far I’m really enjoying them especially after we talked and I did those muff mods to em.
Hell yeah man! I can’t wait to see what kind of tricks we (you😂) can find in there when porting to really wake them up!👍🏼💪🏼👍🏼💪🏼 Stacking anything up against a 200t or a 201t is a tough challenge to begin with. But I’m hopeful that these mk iii’s have the longevity to pull it off!🤞🏼we’ll keep talking bro! Saw safe!
I like the grip and sound but the stihl is better
A lot of people would agree, and a lot would disagree. Personally, I’m torn between the 2. I must admit that the more I run it, the more I’m leaning towards the husky. Only time will tell though 🤷🏻♂️. Thanks for commenting and saw safe!
Rather have husky the 201t is not very great..usually run 3 ported 2511t s....80 to 90 percent of time if possible..
@Sethhaun78 ok Sir thanks again for dropping in I would like some day to opertunity to show in person what I really cando
@@Sethhaun78 yeah, I've heard from several people that the 201t is not very impressive in stock form.
@@Kirks_Custom_Chainsaws it's not..and as I'm older had health issues it's brick like shape and balance hurts to run so I run 2511t ported have 3...but I bought the first or second husqvarna t540 it was terrible..had bad seal crank case ..before I even used more than 1 tank.
yea top man
What exact mods do you have and where did you purchase from? TIA
Ported, muffler mod, & timing advance. I got mine from Wagner’s Chainsaws. Thx for commenting! Saw safe!
@@Kirks_Custom_Chainsaws mine just came in. Super pumped on it! It leaks bar oil when it’s sitting upright over time but other than that, super solid unit
It seems to work very well. I like that size of bar with a skip chain, though I've never tried it on a saw that had under 59cc. I used it on a Stihl Ms361 I use to have and it worked great. I never timed it against a full house chisel chain, so I don't know if was faster or not. But it kept the rpms up and ripped through the logs. I didn't time your cuts, but they seemed pretty close to me. Now you just need to figure out how often each chain needs sharpened to see if less cutters is a benefit or if you are having to sharpen it twice as often. Then you'll know if it is cost and time effective. I was cutting mostly very big soft wood, so it cleared the chips much better keeping the chips from binding my bar and chain in the curf. It didn't seem to need sharpening unusually soon, even though I did cut some hard wood too, mostly oak. It never really mattered to me, since I wasn't making a living off of using my chainsaw. Though I am curious. Lol Great video. 😎👍
Thank you very much! I really appreciate the awesome feedback and your personal experiences! 👍🏼. I won’t keep the 24” bar on the 43cc clone saw, I just wanted to try it & see how it would pull it… surprisingly well I think. The 24” actually belongs on my ported 545. That saw pulls 24” full comp with no issue in hardwood. (Oak & ash). Thanks again for commenting! Saw safe!
@@Kirks_Custom_Chainsaws I am glad to share what little I know. I just bought two clone saws, so I know what you mean. You don't want to risk shortening the life of your saw. I feel the same way. I just bought my new clone saws due to fond memories of my enjoyment of my two favorite saws the Ms361 and the ms200t. I can't even afford the clone of both saws, so I chose the ms200t clone as my priority and I chose the clone of the ms382 saw since it was on a big sale and with even more power. I'm sure you will get a ton of enjoyment out of your saws. Just keep them maintained and replace bad parts as needed and you will. I think replacing bad parts with OEM parts is the way to go if possible, to make your saws last the longest. But as long as you keep replacing bad parts as needed then it only matters because of price over the long term rather they are oem or not as long as they work good. 🤔 You sound wise, so I'm sure you will do well. 😎👍
That’s awesome man! Nothing wrong with the clone saws if you you’re handy.👍🏼 I would never recommend them for someone to rely on for their livelihood, but for firewood & hobbyists, they are great option. I honestly don’t know how many clone saws I have. Too many to count off if memory, that’s for sure!😳 I still have a couple g111’s that I need to build as well as several others. Between kits, & return saws, I ended up with a heck of a collection!😂. If you scroll through my videos & shorts, you’ll see several clone saw builds.👍🏼 good luck with your saws & saw safe man!👍🏼
I’m so confused. How?
I’m not really sure what you’re asking, but I’d be happy to elaborate & help out if I can. Are you asking how I put the pipe on it or how I got it to cut like that? For the record, the pipe was an experiment, I’ve since removed it and built an IH style pipe for it so the saw can actually be used normally now.👍🏼 didn’t really lose any power changing the pipe either.
You're looking at a 13% gain over a muffler mod only. Good job on the port work.
Thanks Boedy! This video was shot on the first tank. I have since run a couple more tanks through it and man has it come to life noticeably more! 👍🏼😉
👍🆙BigGuy
im thinking of getting one what gas mix is it
I run Echo Red Armor 45:1 in all my saws without issue.
Little thing is angry
Thank you!
What saw is it a clone off
Looks like a husky
It’s a clone of a huaqvarna 543xp👍🏼
Damn bro that’s bada$$! Really like the consistency in the timing and how you start. Very cool
Thanks brother! Watching it you can clearly see where the gains are. They are almost the same until the majority of the bar is in the cut & that’s when the stock saw struggles and the ported really comes on strong. Exactly what I wanted! Thx again man!
At least the flywheel is clean 🤣
Yeah right! I think it’s new😂😂😂
As much money as they cost you’d think they’d know🤷🏻♂️
Every day several saws suffer from abuse😭 😂😂 We’ll make ‘er go again!👍🏼
Killer!
Thanks brother!
Deadly
Thanks brother!
Impressive! I’d say that was money very well spent. I tried to zoom in to see if your saw is the original 562 XP or the new Mark II version, but it was too blurry and couldn’t tell. Which version is it? Thanks for sharing the video!
Thank you! No money spent, I do all my own work.👍🏼. Original version 562. I’m looking forward to checking out one of the mark ii 562’s. Thanks for commenting! Saw safe!
Wow 😯
It's a beast
Thx buddy!
pretty cool little saw!
thank you sir!
What kinda boots are you wearing?
Justin👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Lol I'm serious. I'm getting into this line of work and not sure if a composite toe or steel toe is better
Those (my Justin’s) are just my kick around boots. I wear them around the house & shop because they are easy to slip on & off. When I’m doing tree work & firewood, etc. I wear Georgia boots lace to toe logger boots. Worn them for years, I love ‘em. As far as composite or steel toe, either one is good, I have several of each. Hope this helps man, good luck & saw safe!👍🏼
For the size engine that seems like alot of bar. But it cuts really well
😂😂 for a 43cc saw, it’s way too much bar!😂 I just wanted to see how it would pull it, and it kinda surprised me in good way 👍🏼 Saw safe!
