That thing rips! I'd stihl love to see a video to modify the automatic oiler on my ms291 or any other stihl saw with auto oiler. I'm down to throw parts at her or dremel them. I think it would be a very popular video and send your channel to the moon! Thanks brother!!
Could be a couple different things. Some of the carbs are very temperamental. Set both screws at 1-1/4 turns out and try tuning from there. If that doesn’t work, check the metering arm in the carb. A lot of them are not set properly. Also, check spring tension on the metering arm spring. A friend of mine figured out that a lot of the Chinese carbs have too much spring under the metering arm. If this is the case, typically cutting 3 coils off the spring will fix it. Lastly, these saws are notorious for air leaks. If you have any way to perform a pressure test and a vacuum test, I would start there. Even a slight air leak will cause a saw to not tune right and or run out of tune quickly. I hope this helps! I think everything is OK on air leaks and all, it will try to start and run I have had it almost running and it was ripping just wouldnt idle right but my poor ol arm got tired of cranking on it lol will start at 1 1/4 turn and go from there. Also will check the spring. I used to have a good local saw shop I used but (she actually has a pretty damn big channel "chickanic" with like 500k subs i think) but they closed down recently unfortunately. My first time tuning a saw starting from complete shite. I have tuned before but they were already running, just poorly. Thanks for advice will keep u posted

Pretty sure the 291 has a poly framed oiler. Not sure of the details as I’ve never tried to mod one.🤔. I’ll see if I can come across one and try it.
