Thanks. I use the Ignatius Bible (RSV2CE) large print for my every day bible. It's an easy read. Se comment below on use of "Lord". I got it for when my eyes continue to age it won't interfere with my reading. I've had at least 5 study bibles in the past, and I continue to go back to the Jerusalem Study Bible (out of print). I particularly like it because it differentiates between the different names for God in the Old Testament. "Lord" (as used in the RSV 2CE) used for each of the various names is inaccurate and boring. Then in the Gospels when Jesus refers to himself as "I AM" the connection with the Old Testament comes alive (also why the scribes and pharasees wanted to stone him). If you want to augment your study bible with the Fathers, check out "Ancient Christian Commentary on Scriptures" series. Fathers' commentaries on scripture, unfortunately they had to make editorial choices to get it down to 28 volumes. There is also a CSB study bible that uses excerpts from "Ancient Christian Commentaries on Scriptures" for the notes (I haven't bought this one yet). My wife uses Great Adventure Bible (also large print), and one of my daughters uses Didache Bible. I also own the Ignatius Study Bible (NT). Being retired, a travel bible is not that important anymore.

For my fellow TradCaths, there is a Duay Rheims Bible with the Vulgata side by side. It's pricey, but it's stunning. I also recommend the NRSVCE, Illustrated Catholic Bible for the folks that want a premium Bible. There are many that are not into that translation, though. For my fellow Spanish Speaking Caths, there are a couple of them I recommend. The Great Adventure Bible is available in Spanish, same with the Illustrated Catholic Bible (finally a premium Bible in Spanish). There's also a little one I take to mass, the letherette "La Santa Biblia" Editiorial San Pablo. I also love "La Biblia de Jerusalén", big print edition. Special mention: Word on Fire Bible, Bishop Barron is doing an a ma zing job with those, IDK if they are available in Spanish though! Both of these three are great recommendations, I also recommend you guys the little Manual for Spiritual Warfare, by Paul Thigpen

@@ANHNGUYEN-ee5ov That isn’t true though. The Catholic Church literally compiled the Bible. Constantine was a faithful Christian who got rid of things like paganism in the roman army and replaced it with church services, and he also wouldn’t do any pagan rituals.

As for study Bibles - I like the Navarre Bible Series. Extensive commentary from the Church Fathers, CCC, St J. Escriva. As a bonus, it offers the Latin Translation of the Scripture below the commentary. And the Ignatius Catholic Study Bible. Dr Scott Hahn helped put this one together. These 2 complement each other well. Which translation is the Didache ? Seems like most study bibles use the RSV. The Douay-Rheims is my favorite. It seems to contain more a more detailed translation.

NEW AMERICAN (1970) Legitimate option. Not my first choice. NRSV (1989) Woke gender inclusive garbage. RSV Catholic 2nd Ed. (2006) Beautifully done.

I rededicated my life to the Lord in January . I have been using Bible apps . I recently purchased the New Testament Bible first edition no# 376 of 1,000 made KJV I am about to order a very expensive ESV Bible . I am still learning about study notes . I just use my notes app to add verses , notes and things . I am not keen on or never have writing in the Bible . Not my thing. The one I’m I have and the one I’m getting are way too beautiful looking not to mentioned just feel sacred and of reverence as it’s the Word Of God. I would like to find a good Hebrew and Greek study Bible to pull out the actual word of its actual meaning .

1 Corinthians 15:1-4 KJV Bible [1] Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; [2] By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. [3] For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; [4] And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures: Ephesians 2:8-9 KJV Bible [8] For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: [9] Not of works, lest any man should boast. Romans 10:9-13 KJV Bible [9] That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. [10] For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. [11] For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed. [12] For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him. [13] For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. John 3:16 KJV Bible For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. John 14:6 KJV Bible Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

?? We generally think that Vatican was corrupt during reformation period. That's what Martin Luther said. A lie told a thousand times, in this case over 500 years, it tends to appear like Truth . If Vatican was corrupt at that time, CHURCH OF ENGLAND would have not been formed and there would have been no KJV !!! Fr Martin Luther, was denied permission to sell indulgences, by his Bishop for 3 consecutive years; probably because Bishop had doubts on Luther's financial integrity ( guess because Luther had fallen in love with a nun and might have been swindling money during courtship). Luther, a smart well read priest declared church to be corrupt and opposed sale of indulgences. To prove that he is biblically correct, he removed 7 books of OT by stating that *Masoretic Hebrew text* is to be adopted as OT. A brilliant Stratigic move. (These 7 books mentions about purgatory and praying for the dead. ) He wanted to prove that selling of indulgences is wrong as there is no purgatory and no use for praying for the dead. The modern day HEROD- King Henry VIII- wanted to marry another woman, then arch bishop didn't give him permission. Henry had the bishop arrested. He then asked Pope's permission. When Pope refused him permission, King Henry executed arch bishop , broke from catholic church and declared that he is the head of the church, thus the church of England was formed. King Henry, didn't imagine that his request to marry another woman would be turned down because, POPE had declared him as the CHAMPION OF THE CHURCH, was rich and was a king . If the church was corrupt as declared by Luther, Vatican would have surely given him permission. However, that was not the case, so it was a big Lie !!!! --------------++++++++++++++----------- Alexander the Great, establishes Greek rule in Palestine in 333 BC. In 250 BC, the chief librarian in Egypt requested the ruler Ptolemy to translate Hebrew Bible into Greek. Ptolemy didn't believe that Bible was inspired by God, so he ordered 72 scholars, to translate Hebrew to Greek, and had them at different places and ensured that they didn't communicate with each other. Ptolemy was surprised when all 72 scholars came up with same translation. That Greek translation is called the Septuagint Bible. The writers of NT generally quoted or paraphrased from this translation. The NT was also written in Greek ,as that was the official language ( similar to English language in present day india, even though all Britishers have all gone). The Septuagint had 46 books. When Jerusalem temple was destroyed, as predicted by Jesus , and all Jews were scattered all over the world, a few Rabbis met and wanted to prove that Jesus was not the Messiah. They changed a few verses and removed 7 books from the Hebrew Copies ( original Hebrew Bible was found missing) . They wanted to prove that Jesus is not the Messiah, as Septuagint was pointing to it. This new Hebrew text which they decided to make is called *Masoretic Hebrew text* started in 90 AD and said to be completed sometime between 800-900 AD. If you want to know what changes they have made to prove, Jesus is not Messiah, suggest see a TH-cam WAS PYRAMID BUILD BEFORE THE FLOODS by Nathan

Which Jesus are you following? Within 10 years after Jesus Crucifixion we find many false teachers preaching. For St. Paul had warned the church in Corinthians . "For you gladly tolerate anyone who comes to you and preaches a different Jesus, not the one we preached; and you accept a spirit and a gospel completely different from the Spirit and the gospel you received from us!" *2 Corinthians 11:4* False teachers, were masters in creating confusion in the minds of innocent sheep. They used ancestry to create it. Si. Paul says "I want you to stay in Ephesus, just as I urged you when I was on my way to Macedonia. Some people there are teaching false doctrines, and you must order them to stop. Tell them to give up those legends and "*those long lists of ancestors*," which only produce arguments; they do not serve God's plan, which is known by faith." 1 Timothy 1:4 The false teachers were Jews well conversed in OT and they are the ones who created the Masoretic Hebrew text to prove that Jesus is not the Messiah ! The Septuagint Bible, from which Jesus quoted the OT verses pointed towards him as the Messiah. Thats the reason why the Jews created Masoretic Hebrew text, by making a few changes in the genealogy and deleting 7 books from the Septuagint Bible. The corrupt priest, Martin Luther, called Vatican corrupt and recommended deletion of 7 books and adopting the Masoretic Hebrew text as the OT !! If Vatican was corrupt during reformation period the CHURCH OF ENGLAND would not have been formed by King Henry VIII and his successor King James would not have come out with KJV Bible. As KJV Bible has incorporated Masoretic Hebrew text as OT, its the wrong Bible for any christian who follows Jesus Christ ; who died on the cross for us sinners. Matthew 27:17-26 says So when the crowd had gathered, Pilate asked them, “Which one do you want me to release to you: *Jesus Barabbas, or Jesus who is called the Messiah* ?” For he knew it was out of self-interest that they had handed Jesus over to him. So which Jesus do you follow ? If you read KJV, you follow Barrabas If you read a Catholic Bible / Bible which has the Septuagint Bible as OT ,you follow Christ !!! So which Jesus do you follow ?

I am going through the Bible in a year with the ascension one. I really like it! But, for me: Everyday: Knox Bible (baronius). It just reads amazingly. It’s beautiful and extremely unique. It’s the only dynamic equivalence Bible I’d ever use. I always **want** to read it. It’s archaic, yet modern. It’s poetic, yet straightforward. I wish it was more common. I saw a critique online that it used the word “commerce” to refer to sexual intercourse when that’s just the archaic word-don’t blame a translatior for having a larger vocabulary! In the free book that comes with it Knox explains how he translated it and he just did some quirky things sometimes which I like discovering. Please get one, readers! Study: Haydock Doay, the best Bible commentary perhaps ever written in english (maybe only slightly behind Lapide’s work in the 1600s, but it isn’t all in English yet). Seriously, pick one up if you can afford it. The didache is cool but this is chef’s kiss. If you can’t afford it, worry not, download the free Catina App and you get it (and can use whatever translation they have that you like). Travel: I don’t own a fancy one, I have a ESV with NT + psalms from the Gideons. I wanna check out the pocket Doay by Baronius. There’s a small NABRE that tempts me too.

ANYTHING supernatural or spiritual that is taken from the bible is hearsay, feelings, beliefs, hopes, and tales of imaginations, and not proven with evidence. The bible is a book mostly written by men who never even met the people they wrote about (many many years after). It is also heavily edited by a church that had a power and politics agenda, eliminating a number of chapters. In addition, there isn't just one Christian bible - there are at least three with different numbers of chapters. There exists no provable, fact-based evidence to support any of the supernatural (spiritual) events in it. Thus, it is pure human belief - a human emotion and dependent on as many human thoughts as there are humans. To believe without factual evidence is like saying a court case should be determined by only hearsay or a feeling. It's hard to think God wouldn't hold humans to a standard that they hold themselves

Why is there a 50 second Mr Coffee commercial at the beginning of a video about bibles? Why no “New American Bible” (official American Catholic biblr)?

I left Protestantism for Catholicism because I studied my Protestant Bible. I can show you verses that Paul called himself a father of his flock. Nothing in the Bible refutes Catholicism since the New Testament scriptures were written by Catholics and the Catholic Church compiled the Bible and determined the canon of scripture. God bless.

I have a small “travel Bible” (KJV with NT and Psalms.) I bought it in college and have had it for years because it is zippered, so it completely closes and the pages can’t get bent or crushed when I toss it in my backpack or suitcase. I wish more Bibles had this feature.

Did you know the KJV 1611 is the only bible they can't change. As other companies can write a bible and change wording but not the KJV 1611. They are not allowed to make no copyright changes to the 1611 original version.

If Catholics read the Bible, they would learn Christ died ONCE on the Cross, and the man-made ideas like Transubstantiation and Mass are actually an abomination to God. Crazy to have 3 bibles you need if you cannot READ them!

Those are all rsv translations. I would suggest getting a douay rheims as a catholic. The problem is the modern bibles such as the rsv translations are based on the Alexandria manuscripts. Scholars of the Bible believe they're the earliest manuscripts. Truth is textus receptus.. is the most manuscripts we have of the nt. Modern Bible will take out certain verses from tr manuscripts. I believe you gotta be cautious of the modern bibles because there is an agenda to undermine the credibility of bibical authority. That's why there is kjv only movement. The kjv uses the tr manuscripts and the douay for catholic bibles. Get a Bible with the orginal Greek and Hebrew. Also important regarding the old testament is a Bible that preserves the divine names of God.
