NEWCASTLE (E.C.M.L) TRAIN DRIVERS ROUTES. AWL 57= my initials and the year I was born. I'm not revealing my name as this is mainly for my colleagues, retired or active, and future Drivers, and not for attention to myself. These were done before Cab Protocol changed. Certain Drivers were found misusing mobile phones and everything changed. The trust in us diminished, and so did my enthusiasm.
The Sun dont always shine - Newcastle to York - IC225
Experience a night time run. The image quality is not good, (a 90's camcorder and a dry windscreen washer didn't help), but turn up the volume and adjust brightness to get a true black. We start on the King Edward Bridge Newcastle, a quick manual focus, a check of my stops several times, then off we go. The motion of the camera really shows the state of the track. Again, forgive me for the end bit, editing is all new to me.

MK1V 91 leading.This was retrieved from a damaged 8mm tape. The first minute is stills. This equates to 6 minutes normal time.

Class 37 Loco, dubbed to obscure chat form other drivers in the cab. The purpose of this video is for route review. A Route that starts at Northallerton. Used by NEWCASTLE (ECML) DRIVERS as a diversion, during engineering work on the Mainline or other exceptional circumstance.

MK1V DVT Leading.....A memorable return trip. Very Cautious Handling from Loch Cobinshaw because of the falling gradient. Disturbed snow builds up on the brake rigging and freezes, so its essential to keep the brake working, to create heat and melt the snow. In this case I left the brake in the first notch much of the way.
