Those Carter ladies sure can sing. I think Anita may have been the best pure singer. She seems to move effortlessly vocally through any type of song.
Wow she’s beautiful…now I have to watch her sing Blue Doll again🥰
This is much better with Anita and waylon❤
What a lovely voice RIP.Anita
Eat your hearts out Madonna and Taylor swift. This woman could sing
This is wonderful! May the Spirits of the great AL Hirt and Guido Basso rest peacefully, knowing 🙏 what a Treasure their artistry was to the world 🌎 Most respectfully..Vaughn 🎺
Rip Mother Maybel Carter and to All the Carter family your greatly missed but you're music lives on
My god, perfection
June Carter Cash, Homer and Jethro and two of the Statler Brothers (Harold Reid and Phil Balsley) are the other notables in this skit.
What a Beautiful woman and a Beautiful voice. We will miss her dearly. God Bless her and all her family.
We miss do you when you are gone
💌
Holy-smoke, what a beautiful performance. ❤
Yes indeed
Luckily we’ve got you tube to keep these great stars alive for ever,,my favourite clip of Anita is the song she sang with Hank Williams
I wish I could see pictures of Anita when she was young, starting at around 18. She must have been really beautiful.
Al is playing a LeBlanc Guido a Benge
gotta love it !! al the king hirt will always be the king of the trumpet.
ANITA HAS A BEAUTIFUL VOICE
:(😢...
The most Beautiful face in the World, Anita Carter had ❤❤❤❤❤
I would like to know if ,someone knows how to get Anita Carter inducted into the Hall Of Fame , she deserves to be in there
Beautiful Anita Carter❤
Absolutely perfect in all ways.
Anita, we absolutely do miss you😢
Anita Carter definitely had the best voice of the Carter family in my opinion.
in the mid-60's, I was given an Al Hirt album as a birthday gift by my next door neighbors. At the time, I was in middle school (junior hi, we called it then), and playing cornet. I played that album about a thousand times, and played right along with it. Later, I gathered a number of Al's other albums and upon entering college, switched to trumpet. I managed to play along with a number of his songs, my favorite being Carnival of Venice. I actually did a passable rendition, if I do say so myself. What an honor for the "challenger" to have played alongside Al Hirt. On Al's Carnegie Hall concert album, the back of the record jacket mentioned that Al had said something like he was "going to play all night long". So, the jacket said, "If Al Hirt ever plays in Alaska, it would be worth the cost to go - because their nights last six months!" Still haven't gotten my Al Hirt signature trumpet. Maybe someday! Thanks for posting this. New sub.
Did Hirt record both sides of the duel?
Hell no! Guido is a monster player!
That song is much better whit waylon and anita
QUE BELLA MUSICA . FELICITACIONES. ALGUNA QUICIERAMOS CONOCER .ESOS LUGARES Y CULTURA. BENDICIONES
The music just flows fro her.
This is so fing great! I play the horn, both of these guys are assume! 😊
All these years and I still miss “Jumbo”! Al Hirt was my hero when I was a kid in the 1960’s learning to play the trumpet at 8 years old. Ann Margret referred to him as “Jumbo” on the record they made together. He was a great in more ways than just the trumpet.😊
That was special. I would have been about four when it was televised. If it was on I have no recollection. Thank you!
Beautiful
I'm a big Herb Alpert fan but also an Al Hirt fan, too. Al was a classically trained trumpeter and virtuoso and played Carnegie Hall in the 1960s.
Don't forget Doc. I remember when Al was in a New Orleans parade and someone threw a piece of brick, hitting Jumbo in the mouth. When Doc heard about it in California, he called Al to check up on him. Al's comment is supposed to have been, "Doc, how did you throw that brick and get back to California so fast?" Great players, great compatriots.
@@jasonstarr6419 I know that after that terrible incident Al said he wouldn't participate in the Mardi Gras parade anymore because the city had become too dangerous. That was decades ago and things are arguably worse in NO nowadays.
It's "Black Bart" Basso!
The Best Version.
Gorgeous voice plus.
YES!
It’s like there’s more than one voice in there. Amazing Anita.
I feel the same way when I listen to Anita's version of 'Voice of the Bayou'. I've often heard the term 'otherworldly' used to describe many singers. Anita's voice definitely has that quality.
Anita should have had a much bigger career
Great representation of "Trumpet Ego"
A true beauty with real talent she was and still is fantastic 😻
Both were good, but I think Guido Basso was even Better than Al.
That's a good way to start a fight, pardner!!! lol.... the same sort of argument can be made about Al vs. Doc Severinsen. Having listened to recordings by both of them along with recordings from many other trumpeters (Maynard Ferguson comes to mind) as well, I'd say choosing which is "better" is more likely either focusing on a particular aspect of play or style combined with personal taste. Oh, Harry James, too.
Guido Basso is the Canadian Trumpet player in the Dual!! Both were great players!
I'm surprised Guido wasn't very well known in the U.S.
@@kn-qz7byhe was certainly well-known and highly revered by US trumpet players and those around the world!
Thanks for the ID. Loved his playing.
Guido Basso is a great trumpet player (known for playing on Rob McConnell Boss Brass, and many more things; super big in Canada)
two mighty fine trumpet players.
Ah yes the good old who has the best range and quickest tonguing duels!
She had the most beautiful voice , when she sings as the sparrow goes my heart swells
Here's a question: In the video of "Rocky Top Tennessee," by the Carters, there's a tall, black-haired woman, standing next to mother Maybelle. I think she was a regular substitute for June. Does anybody know who she is?
Can't get any better than this.
