The story of this anime felt kinda incomplete. Like we never got to know what actually happened with his parents and why he got a restraining order against his dad. It would be great if they made a season two.

I don’t know what to type actually I’m moved in so many ways . This kid became my role model from now on my heart is all out for his character. I’m crying it broke me down and made me realise that not every parents deserve a kid . Kotaro is too precious and will stay in my heart forever 😥

To be honest, I feel bad for the dad that he doesn't get to see his child. He's not an abusive dad. It devastates him that legally he doesn't have custody of his son and her wife's post-partum depression was kind of a big problem. Perhaps the life insurance of his mother was a parting gift for the mom not being able to take care of her son? Did the father also fall into a state of depression after losing his wife and seeing her in a terrible spot after giving birth? Was that the reason perhaps why he became abusive?

In the official English subtitles made specifically for the Japanese version (these subtitles follow the English dub), Kotaro specifically says that he's attempting to emulate Tonosaman... At the 9-minute mark of the first episode, he says that his voice is "the voice of Tonosaman". That moment caused my heart to drop and break, because I knew exactly what that meant due to personal experience. Emulating your favorite fictional characters in every second of your everyday life is a potential and very worrying tra_ma response, because it +can+ happen when someone is trying to build a new personality after their old one crumbled +as a result of severe tra_ma+... right down to the behaviors and ideals... Like I said, I know this from personal experience. My pfp might be Emiya Kiritsugu, but the character I emulated was Emiya Shirou (specifically the portrayal in the visual novel. Having similar bad days and resultant life decisions made from that bad day made it easier.) Luckily, Kotaro has many people in his life that care about him, so... I'm sure he'll be just fine in the end.
