It's a shame some things are replicas because of the Yankees after WW2, but it's amazing to know that the wood on the deck is intrinsically original from the era of Admiral Togo. If I'm not mistaken, the 30cm caliber 45 used on the Mikasa after its reconstruction at the time when there was an explosion in the magazines, is the same weapon used on the Brazilian battleships Minas Geraes and São Paulo,The only difference is, of course, that the Brazilian dreadnoughts used a gunhouse that would be the inspiration for the 343, 356 and 381mm British guns, including the superb Vickers 36cm/45 used by the Kongou,Fuso,Ise and Almirante Latorre's EOC. Historically the 356mm EOC guns of HMS Canada "Almirante Latorre" were dedicated to the battleship Yamashiro, but the contract had already been made with Vickers, in practice the performance is the same, talking to Tony DiGiulian, I discovered that the Vickers used by the Japanese was even more advantageous, even without using the 719kg Greenboy shell, the Japanese 625-673.5kg shells had better safety capabilities Type 5 to Type 91 were dedicated to reducing premature explosion,as well as the anti-flareback improvement of gunhouses.

@@iwillgiveittoyouwhocantsle3129 I agree, in the lineage of predreadnoughts and super dreadnoughts, I like Shikishima, Fuji, Kashima, Fuso and Ise when it comes to Nihon Kaigun. But I really like Japanese destroyers, I even have a portrait 50x30cm of the Kawakaze in Shanghai around 1937, the career of this ship is incredible, it sank the USS Northampton and Blue. The day I have the opportunity to go to Kyoto, I hope to be able to go to Osaka to visit the warehouses of the old Fujinagata Shipyards on the Kizugawa River. ~Brazil

@@iwillgiveittoyouwhocantsle3129 Good point, the 20.3cm japanese guns, in addition to the cool arrangements, were separate cradles, the initial shell dispersion patterns were successfully corrected. Technically they were a little better than the 8"/55 USN

Built by Vickers, in Barrow in Furness, as the Japanese came to the Royal Navy and British shipbuilding yards, for experience. Some of my family worked at Barrow, in the 1880s-1920s, so will have helped build her (I have their postcards with pictures to my grandfather, when he was a boy). Mikasa helped sort out the Russians, at Tsushima. Could do with that level of fortitude and strength, now. Sadly, the UK can't crew what few RN ships that it has left, and Barrow's latest A Class submarines are incapable of getting to sea. RN is a shambles that no country would want to learn from, nowadays - except how not to do things!

If you are looking for an obscure abandoned railway path, look at Sannomidori Park, near Tennoji, south Osaka, - the line diverted left off the freight yard, and then down thru houses to meet up on the Midosjui line , south to Osaka bay. Now a childrens park, even with an old signal still standing. ;)
