Hii! I'm going to be a freshman at berkeley this fall and i was wondering about the housing crisis lmfao :( my parents are freaking out and saying that none of the students have dorms and the homelessness/crime is crazy bc they've never even been to california let alone berkeley (i'm out of state), so is it really that bad? i toured berkeley and i loved it that's why i decided to go, but have you felt the impacts of the lack of dorms etc?
HII HELLO!! okayyy so I was talking with my roommates and we think that the housing crisis is honestly not that bad? After the first year of dorms, you have to find housing but it's not that difficult as people make it out to be online. You just have to start early and be patient when looking for housing. Your parents have nothing to be worried about!! In regards to homelessness and crime situations personally, you definitely have to be aware of your surroundings but I haven't experienced anything dangerous or violent with a homeless person. If you mind your business they will mind theirs LMFAO.

How did you end up choosing Berkeley over all your other UCs because I'm currently a junior and I still don't have a "dream school" so I just wanted to know why you chose UC Berkeley? Love your video btw !😊
not the person who made the vid but i might be able to help! location (moving out? staying home? far from home? nearby?) is big, price is big but financial aid helps a LOT, if it has the major you want is big, the general vibe matters a lot too. (example: i chose ucla over ucb because i not only like LA more but also wanted to move away from home. prices are similar but financial aid is covering ~75%). do some research into what you want in a college by looking at their difficulty, acceptance rate, etc as well. hope that helped but feel free to reply if its confusing
My son will be attending Berkeley this fall, no one mentions where they store dirty laundry, how often they do laundry, and does your dorm stink because of it?
hello!!! so usually in the dorms, people bring laundry baskets so they just store the dirty laundry in there. I don't think it ever makes the dorm smell. And people do laundry I would say around once every 2 weeks but this also varies on how many clothes your son is bringing!!

The difference between my generation and the young people of today is that we understood that everybody does not win and get a trophy. We understood what it meant to work hard and not be publicly acknowledged and rewarded just because we showed up. It also seems like because college is a lot more competitive and expensive now, there is a lot more pressure on these kids. My advice to young people is: Find something you enjoy, something you are good at, and something that you can make an honest living at. Part of growing up is setting and meeting your own expectations, recognizing that we fail, and that “mastery of life springs from a thousand failures.” Is it really necessary to go to “the best schools?” I think not. I opposed and defeated attorneys from the top Ivy League schools. Sure, they made more money but I loved my work and they were not as skilled as I was with a “2nd tier legal education.” You would be surprised how many young Big Law practitioners with Ivy League educations that I met who were unhappy.
