😢😢😢
Don Drysdale was the epitome of the Dodgers. The last Brooklyn Dodger. The intimidating presence on the mound was like no other.
Beautiful writing abd acting in this scene.
Nice!!!
10 days later that month davey allison died in a helicopter crash
I was at the HOF induction ceremony for Reggie Jackson a few weeks later. Alongside the other Hall of Famers, Don Drysdale's widow was there in his place. I remember the crowd gasped when her name was announced.
Wow, he died SO young. He was ONLY 56 years old.
This is what we need to help the kids with today. That is what helped me be the person I was. Didn't want anything in my body that would be stupid or harm me. I would much rather keep my chin up and happy. Peer pressure was not a friend. We need this today to help these new generations to make the right decisions for their health for their future to succeed. NBC had the more you know and I always felt good about sticking to good choices. Thank you for sharing this. I know that with messages and the right attitude we will make good decisions about our health and our lives.
😊great oldies
And he farts a lot.
Far out.
Hawk Harrelson was cracking you can tell how stunned, shocked & crushed he was. Hawk, Don Drysdale & Bob Uecker all 3 of those guys had a tight relationship. Uecker & Don on ABC, Hawk & Drysdale worked together in the booth as well & I know Uecker made the trip to Chicago on the Southside during Hawks final season broadcasting White Sox games when Brewers went in there for a weekend series.
Hawk baseball
That kid Dodie was a whiney brat.
I remember hearing this live while watching this game. Drysdale did the radio (and sometimes TV) broadcast back in the day and was really good at it.
Drysdale along with Koufax and Gibson, struck fear in batters. He was one of the greats. Todays pitchers cant go past the 6th inning. Bunch of pussies.
Don was a gifted announcer. Vin? Genius. God's Peace!!
Here's a hint: The brunette waved at you! 😉
A very underrated play by play announcer for baseball
crazy it took Don like 8 years to be voted into the HOF.....had a ERA under 3.00.....50 shutouts.....to be voted into the hall up until maybe 2000 you had to almost open up your veins and bleed out to be voted in 1st or 2nd year....some of the guys that were voted in their first year with 75 to 80 percent of the votes even were insane where today they would be at 98 percent plus....must have been a lot of really mean old WWII era type writers doing the voting.....no free lunch with those writers back then...
Rip don and rip vin both of you are dodger legends that will never be forgotten
I remember watching this live! I lived in Chicago in 93 and I was watching the Sox game with my Dad and he’s like oh no Drysdale! Will never forget it
Vin Scully was a true professional.
9/19/1970.The Show's very first Episode for the 1970-71 season.Aired on Saturday Evening for one more season.
Dodie turned 60 on 1/11/23.She may be getting at bit old.
It was in Montreal.
They're finally reunited
Rip Don
RIP 53 and Vin
Hawk choking up is probably the most humane thing I have ever heard in baseball broadcasting history.
Rest in peace.
Radish Abuse Society!
i have watched and rewatched these episodes. I have commented much on the content, which is wonderful. Let's move beyond. What is up with your studio? Do you literally walk in the front door and lay any the bed? Outstanding!
Do you have anymore footage from this star?
One of my favorite calls: the Tommy vs. Phillie Phanatic back on 8/28/88. Rest easy Don Drysdale.
Never realized the Hawk was so affected by this, thank you sir for your heartfelt announcement.
They were close. Harrelson had a lot of respect for Drysdale as they played in the same era.
@@jorgejohnson451How Vin Scully kept his composure, I'll never know. RIP Don and Vin.
Most people don't know that North Dakota is actually a very flatulent state.
I’ve gotta get lots my three sons only have two dvds 😛
I made the mistake of replaying this “progrum” and I fell on the floor!
I'm glad someone's still watching ... and falling! :)
I remember when Hawk Harrelson made that call, and you felt the pain and shock in his voice what a sad moment
Will never forget this….. Went to the Anaheim Convention Ctr for the card show that day .... my brother bought a signed Drysdale ball, we saw Sandy Koufax and bought his autograph , then driving home listening to the game on the radio heard Vin say that Drysdale had passed away.
I always found Hawk to be entertaining even though his homerism was over the top. It was all in good fun though and I loved "he gone".
Man, this news ripped Hawk Harrelson apart. You can so plainly hear it in his voice.
I was watching the White Sox game when Ken Harrelson made the announcement to Chicago fans. His voice was cracking, I had never heard him so emotional. Don and Hawk were such a great announcing team and Don was very passionate about the White Sox, even as a Dodger lifer. I happened to run into him under the stands at old Comiskey, what a large and imposing figure he was but a genuinely nice man R.I.P. Double D.
Imagine the stories they are telling each other today. RIP VS and DD, and of course JD.
Vins reunited with him now. RIP
RIP Vin Scully
Hawk loved DD
RIP Vin Scully!😢
Never easy losing someone you love dearly.....I miss my son every second we're apart.
