Hi, I have an old pair of sunglasses that are over 20 years old. Do I need to see an eye doctor for a new prescription for sunglasses? Thanks.
In the US, yes.
@RyanReflects Thank you.
@RyanReflects @ Is it okay if I use old sunglasses?
Awesome podcast! You guys had some really interesting conversations, and the production quality was great, I appreciate the hard work you put in!
Thank you! Stay tuned, there is so much great content to come!!
I have completed optometry degree, how to find a job in US?
You would need an optometry degree from an accredited optometry school in the US and to pass all 3 parts of NBEO national boards.
Anagram Face Maskis Fake Scam
🙃
I’ve got 2 styes but I almost got 3 because I was rubbing it. It was my worst fear ever I hate styes the doctor had to squeeze out I cried I was only 7 so yea I never want a stye ever again
They are frustrating for sure.
Hello, what did you major in?
Nutritional science
Too many Drs foot dr primary dr this test that test eye dr 1000 test. Its like a full time job to go to all the visits and tests drs want. When in the end no Dr will keep me alive forever.
Fair point. People definitely have to do their part.
Dr. Ryan thank you for this video. I have a question. Do you think I can jump in optometry from an associate in nursing ?
Yes, however, you'd have to go to optometry school to do so.
Come to Philippines where Standard Lasik is just 1k usd++
Thank you for this video! Im currently thinking about relocating as well for a job contract from West to midwest part of the country. Super nervous, but being single and in my mid 20s is a Huge advantage. Thanks for all your tips!
You've got this! Relocating is a big step, but you're at a good age to try it out. 👍
Hi! You’re right you have everything right there ❤enjoy it I love it !
Thanks! 😊
I’m doing LASIK tomorrow boys, wish me luck
Done??how was it?
hii, im a junior in hs and this video was very helpful to get to know the process! ill be sure to watch your other videos as well.. becoming an optometrist sounds a bit challenging but I think I can do it, tysm!
You're very welcome!
Are they environmentally friendly? If not can I recycle the packaging they come in?
All contact lens brands are recyclable through the Bausch and Lomb One by One recycling program through TerraCycle.
What an Optrometrist should study to become an Opthomologist? Can i continue my job as an Optometrist while studying for Opthomologist? Please tell me
There is no bridge programs yet, don’t spend money on additional workload for medschool if you are already practicing as an optometrist unless the student loans are nothing to u
In the US, you'd have to go to medical school.
How an Optometrist become Opthomologist?
In the US, you'd have to go to medical school.
Thanks for sharing. This was really helpful for me 😊
I'm happy to hear it!
I’m 25 and I am considering going back to school for optometry. I’m nervous, any words of advice? 🙏🏼
Of course! Stay tuned 🙌
so exciting! can’t wait to tune in!
Thank you 🙏
I have made the jump to contacts. My eye doc tried to discourage me from getting them, saying that toric multi focal do not work well and for me not to expect much. I'm on my second try with a different prescription. Sometimes my distance vision is clear, then goes blurry. And my close up is very rarely clear. Maybe I need a different doctor
I recommend finding a doctor that follows the fitting guide.
How much has ur vusion changed ? When did u get surgery at which age ? What was your prescription
How can they possibly be making that much money? Optometry is literally the only healthcare segment left in the US that has low out of pocket expenses that do not require insurance to cover them.
Optometric services provided and the retail sales of glasses and/or contact lenses add up.
Bs
😊
TIME FOR A TOUCH UP 💪🏾
I have a special place in hell for styes. I got one and it only lasted for two days (that's the shortest amount of time I've ever had a stye) but literally like a few days after another one formed (it's still here) and it had to form near the actual eyeball itself. So not only is it extremely painful if I blink or look around but my eye is also constantly watering because it's irritating my eye 😕😡🙄
They're frustrating for sure!
Tell me, those lenses looks a bit blue when it goes over the white part of the eye? Cause i'm using clariti toric and they are almost transparent. I have biofinity as well but you see straight the gel are a bit blue and i don't like it. Thanks mate hope you understand what i mean.
Clariti lenses don’t have a handling tint, unlike most contact lenses. The handling tint is usually what causes the effect you're noticing.
These videos are great
Thank you!
Did you have lasik mate?
He says 10 years post lasik, while developing side effects from lasik is getting better with time, it still happens from time to time
Yes.
I no longer want to go into medical school. Applying to optometry school.
Great! Keep me posted on the journey!
I am late 40s with myopia (-2.75, -3.25). Been wearing single vision contacts for over 25 years and now it is hard to read with the contacts on. Today I was given multifocals to try for the first time (-2.50, -3.00, add 2.00 MED). Close distance is now very clear, but beyond about 10 feet there is a slight blurriness (but way better than uncorrected myopia). I was told to continue to wear for 2 weeks and then see them again I'm wondering - Will I experience any changes or improvements in vision in the next several days? Is it typical to have a patient wear these for some time when it's the first time? If there are no changes, is it still possible to improve on my distance vision a bit thru a little more trial and error? Although it hasn't been very long, I'm pretty content right now overall with the multifocals
It depends on the person, however, there is definitely an adaptation period. Often times, if a patient wears the lenses for 1-2 weeks and is still unhappy, I'll make an adjustment off the manufacture fitting guide to improve visual outcomes at distance and near.
My lasik is in 5 hours and I’m scared I saw this video of a guys saying it didn’t went right for him and now I’m freaking out
Hi . I have lasik tomorrow. How was urs? How is ur vision now???
Can you update us on your vision ?
hey any update?
How was it?
@@meghnashrivastava1515how was your lasik?
When I'm a NCNS, it's because I've sought out a different provider. Often ,for me, office staff can be so rude, difficult, unaccomodating that I choose to go somewhere else. Also, if I don't get a call back response after 3-4 phone calls, ie leaving voice messages I know that the practice does not prioritize my need of care, hence I move on
I know not every practice's front desk protocols are created equal so this is a very fair point.
This was great, thank you!
You're very welcome!
Front desk the book
They're the gatekeepers.
Great work doctor
Thank you!
Is NBEO hard to pass for international optometrist who has finished 2 year bridge program in Usa? How long does it take to pass?
Not sure. I don't know anyone who has taken this approach.
Which university in the united state offers the two years bridge program and what's the cost of the tuition .
This is a question for Google, as these programs are always changing.
Ok....my glasses are like coke bottle thick....if my vision fades, I don't mind a thin pair of glasses.... But these coke bottle lenses gotta go...my contacts are so big they plop out of my eyes if I blink wrong. 😂
Such a small world. My CL attending, Erin Rueff, said you were one of her classmates. She is a gem. Thank you both for your work.
She absolutely is a gem! Send her my best!!
Just because u did lasik doesnt mean you dont have to protect your eyes from prolonged screen time... go touch some grass
Life guarantee? Follow up..?
Hi, I'm thinking of getting these contacts. I have been wearing trial contacts lens for the past month. I tried out the Alcon dallies total, MyDay Toric, and the Infuse astigmatism. I feel the infuse and the Myday Toric were both excellent. They were both super comfortable and I didn't feel my eyes getting dry. I feel like after 12hours of having the contacts on the infuse contacts felt a little less dry. What I want to know is which contact lens between the Infuse and MyDay Toric is better in terms of keeping my eyes wet for a longer duration? I want to have I want to have the overall healthiest contact lens. In regard to comfort, I feel both lenses are equal.
INFUSE has superior breathability and moisture content properties.
Thank you for the great introductory video! I visited an optometrist my freshman year and was instantly fascinated by the testing and diagnostic methods. Starting study for the OAT now
Awesome! Keep me posted on your journey.
Hi, do you know much about the process of switching from practicing optometry in the UK as a qualified optometrist to moving to the US?
Yes. You'd have to go to optometry school in the US.
I left a review for a business, and they replied back to me and asked me to reply to this review. So, how do I reply back to them?
You can edit your original review.
@RyanReflects Thanks, I didn't think of that!
I am 35 undergrad is in Finance. My kids are a little older now and I am thinking of making that switch. Quitting my job and pursuing what I can’t seem to stop thinking about-Being an Optometrist! Is it too late? I mean can I really do this!! 😅
Nope. It’s not too late at all. I had a classmate graduate in her early 40s. I ran into her a few weeks ago and she’s still very happy with her decision!
We have two Ophthalmologists and one Optometrist. If pt. sees an MD, it’s $140 self pay with no insurance unless they have testing which adds to the cost. With insurance, we always bill medical. If pt. sees the optometrist, it’s whatever the copay is for medical, or routine visits with no medical dx. we charge either $75 out of pocket or whatever their vision rider copay is. New York State here.
Thank you for sharing!
I work for an Ophthalmology office with two MD’s and an Optometrist and we only provide the Rx. when the patient requests it. I keep suggesting they print them for the patient in every appointment but nothing changes. We also do not require a signature when giving the Refraction to the patient. Is this breaking the law? I’m in New York State for context…. Thanks in advance.
The new law takes effect in the fall of 2024 so implementing that change will ensure your practice remains compliant.
So I have a question. I’ve heard so many good things about these lenses from the research I read and the TH-cam vids I’ve watched. But even with all the good things I heard, there’s a possibility that they may not work for some people. Are these lenses really proven to help with dry eyes and stay comfortable all day??? I wore contacts in high school, which was about 20yrs ago. I wore acuve. After high school, I quit wearing them cause they got too expensive. I tried to wear them again in 2019. I tried trial pair acuve daily disposable and monthly, it felt like something was in my eye and they wouldn’t get comfortable. And at the time, the technology was suppose to be the best. So how are these different? I really been excited when I did research, these contacts are the latest! I have an appt in sept to be fitted for these, I hope I can wear them. I have astigmatism.
The lens was designed to minimize contact lens related dryness and discomfort. That being said, before being fit with them, I always recommend treating and managing dry eye disease. Especially moderate and severe stages.
Deciding whether to relocate for a job is a big decision! I went through this process myself, and it wasn’t easy weighing the pros and cons. One thing that really helped me was working with Bolster Group, they provided guidance on everything from cost of living to career growth potential in the new location. It’s so important to consider all aspects, not just the job offer itself. This video really hits on the key points to think about before making the move. Thanks for the insightful content!
