    ive started putting black rtv around the inside of my seals the last 4 havnt leaked and ive done probably 40 of these the past 3 months. the stupid plastic sleeve always pops out i havnt been using those except to line up the seal got quite the collection of crankshaft sleeves

    • @tacticalrepair
      @tacticalrepair วันที่ผ่านมา

      The sleeve only really works if you install the seal in the cover and push the cover on over the crank sleeve. If you're just trying to install it without removing the timing cover it's damn near impossible to make the sleeve work properly.

I mean I did follow along a bit but so much to learn about. you are a gold mine when it comes to these vehicle's. one day I hope you will be back in the states with your own business & shop again but I understand it takes time to do what you got to do for now. Hey G-man I did something stupid, I wasn't thinking and had my Park brake on and moved my truck about 30 yards and got out & smelled the drum brake, could I have messed anything up? it seams to still be working, may I have weakened anything? Great to see you posting again, Gareth. You sound like you are in a better head space than you were a while ago.🫡👍👍 Question reference the version of the engine in M543A2: we appear to have blown out the frost plug on the back end of our forward head as she's leaking a lot of water when we run it (never more than 5 or so minutes as we run tests). We got the valve cover off and swept a hacksaw blade through the gap between the two heads and there is something right about where the frost plug should be. We'll be pulling off the rockers and the injectors so we can pull that head. We've got a brand new late pattern head gasket, intake and exhaust gasket, and a valve cover gasket. Will a commercially available frost plug fit or is the darn thing sone weird size that I have to order online? Related question, do I need to put anything on the new head gasket when we reinstall the head? Cheers from the rapidly cooling Great White North!😁🍺🍺🍁

    Umm that's interesting to use a weaker acid like vinegar to dilute the sulfuric acid in the case of an accident 🤔🧐🤔 Maybe using water would be better, or can make a wash of baking soda and water 💦 🌊 Anyways if that's all you got in a bad situation, it would be better than pouring sulfuric acid on 😳 😱 Anyways thanks for the upload ☺️👍

    The groove o matic is awesome! I made something similar to oring the block on my old 7 seconf Eagle Talon. I've had amazing luck with these motors but I did the brokey cranky thing on the last one. Pretty sure it was from going from 10mph to zero instantly and the entire drivetrain stopping but who knows. They didn't radius the edges when they ground it for the rebuild so it could have been a stress riser too. Tempting to forge that damn crank into a giant dildo sharpener or something awful to shame it for the nightmare it put me through! Maybe some kind of freaky anvil so I can beat on it for eternity. lol! Balancer looked ok. I still have most of a motor in AZ if anyone needs it. I'm trying not to scrap it but sick of tripping on it too. I was excited to have the LDS there for a bit and wanted to put a different turbo on it but it went to a good home. Looks like mine is actually getting a ve pumped 6bt and the FSO6406a though. I just have to figure out how to get it out of a diesel pusher with the cradle thing. I spent all day degreasing, pressure washing and head scratching, and rebuilding the pressure washer...again... I'm hoping to go grab the sae flywheel adapter and clutch stuff this week. I may end up with an extra FS5106 if all works out, and still have everything to bolt one to a LDT/LDS so if anyone wants to get crazy drivetrain swapping, check the classifieds at steelsoldiers. I'm in the band for fecesbook groups again. :(

    Garrett, I am installing the Jatonka spin-on oil filter conversion. What convinced me is the video showing the 9+ second delay before oil pressure comes up on the gauge versus 3 seconds with the spin-on filters. I would imagine that hundreds of starts with zero oil pressure for 10 seconds each time has to accelerate wear on bearings. It is a relatively inexpensive upgrade that I believe is worth it. Just my humble novice opinion. Thank you for the videos, they are quite valuable to those of us who are becoming familiar with deuces. I hope things in your life have taken a turn for the better. - Chris

      @@EriksCorner only reason it wouldn't run without the electric lift pump is you must be sucking air somewhere between the tank and the boost pump on the injection pump. The mechanical boost pump will pull fuel by itself provided it has a prime. The electric lift pump just pushes fuel to the boost pump. So you have to be losing prime. If there's no fuel behind the boost pump, then that boost pump can't push whatever fuel is in front of it either. If you had fuel between the primary fuel filter and boost pump inlet, that would be enough for the boost pump to pull fuel and run long enough to prime itself even if you lost all the fuel between the tank and the primary filter. What this tells me is that your soft fuel hose that connects to the boost pump inlet from the frame mounted hard line is cracked and sucking air. If it sucks air, it also seeps fuel under the low pressure the lift pump provides, but you probably can't tell because that line is always oily anyway. I'd replace that soft hose.
