Mobile Microscope (2024 Updated) - Assembly and Comparison
An ultra low cost 3D printed 'Mobile Microscope' which can be attached to any smartphone.
Developing countries face a huge problem towards setting up and maintaining labs in schools. A fascinating tool like a Microscope is expensive and difficult to maintain. The design of the 'Mobile Microscope' will be open source aims to fill this gap and make science more exciting for students. The files will soon be available for free download and can be printed on any FDM 3D printer using basic 3D printing materials like PLA.
Currently the Mobile Microscope uses a lens from an objective lens of a compound microscope, but future plans include manufacturing the lens to meet the requirements of this design and to lower the cost of the lens.

Yes, the 3D files will be available soon for free to download and 3D print. This product is purely hardware based and doesn't require any software, it uses the smartphone camera to capture everything. :)
For a fraction of the price, you've achieved much of the functionality! I can see this giving more people access to science. Great job.
