Create Powerful Lookups From Web Data
In this tutorial, I will show you how to create powerful lookups like XLOOKUP within Power Query but with a twist, we will be pulling data from the web!
Websites are full of data which we can utilise in order to make our information more impactful, but you don't want to be copying and pasting it into your Excel Workbooks. Power Query in Excel enables you to import data from multiple sources, one of which is from the web. Just make sure you select the correct table from the web to import into Power Query. What's great when using Power Query to pull data is that it can all be refreshed really quickly just by pressing the refresh button.
Here's where you come in! If you find this tutorial helpful, don't forget to hit that like button, share your thoughts in the comments, and subscribe to my channel for more Excel tips and tutorials. Your support keeps me motivated to bring you valuable content.

i really loved this one
Thank you, appreciate that
Did you know this one?
Hi How are you Sir
I’m very well thank you. Hope you are too
@@How_2_Excel Thank you for the reply.. why don't you come online and give some live classes or you can share your email id I will connect with you to learn Excel from you
Thanks, I’d love to do that. Just trying to find the time at the moment with just doing this on the side of a full time job. Are there any videos you’d specifically like me to do for you on here?
@@How_2_Excel Yes, I would like to learn VBA and macro in excel.. please make it
Brilliant video. Thanks Dave!
You’re welcome, glad you liked it. ☺️
If you think it’s okay to use AI voice, you must also think it’s okay to upload low effort content that is not worth watching
I create very detailed, my own voice videos too which you may not appreciate either. But thank you for the comment
@@How_2_Excel expect to get less watch time when using an Ai voice. People think the video is bad and skip if they hear Ai voice.
@@carlsonbench1827 that’s fair, and would have been a nicer way to have put it to begin with.
@@How_2_Excel you are getting my overflow hatred of Ai voices that are spamming TH-cam
Thank you it also works in word
Awesome, glad to hear it 😀
Nice!
Thank you
I always forget about this tip, so a nice reminder for me too
Well, will you be using this instead of IF?
When I close them and re-open them the links aren't connected anymore
Very clean, but I detest 365, so I just stay with pivot tables.
Thanks. Oh really, what’s the reason for that?
This was so helpful
Great, glad to hear it ☺️
@@How_2_Excel 😆😆
Excellent !
Glad you like it!
Filter Function 🙌🏼🙌🏼
Very useful! I must rewatch and try 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼☺️
Thank you, glad you found it helpful. There is a free download I’ve put on my stan store which goes with this video if you want to follow along with that ☺️
I really need this kind of videos
Thanks for the comment!!! I’ll keep making them if people like them ☺️
I knew the button but not the keyboard shortcut that was super helpful!
Ah cool. You’re welcome, thanks for the comment ☺️
But why?
Someone might be doing something in Excel on the Olympics and a visual of the country just makes it more interesting 🤔
Love this
Thank you ☺️
Wow😮😮
Thanks. Glad you like it 😉
My dad was a excell hero... Wish he was still there
🥹
Have you used this?
Does it only work in Excel 2016?
Yes, from 2016
@@How_2_Excel Good to know 👍
@@TheAcmeGuy you’re welcome
Subtotal
This can be used in this instance. AGGREGATE does offer more flexibility on what to ignore if you needed it 😀
Sure, but how do I automate it so that any name in the first column automatically splits?
For any automation I’d now use Power Query. If you had a list of names even in a different file you could automate this process
Which button should i press on my tablet?
Hmm 🤔 I don’t have a tablet to try it on. Had a Quick Look and it seems there are limited keyboard shortcuts on tablets. You may need to use the flash fill button on the data tab
BROOOOOO FORMER SIMPSON GOT ME ROLLIN🤣

Lifesaver! I'll be using these tricks
Awesome, you’re welcome! Thanks for commenting ☺️
Amazing excel teacher!! I’m following for my new job lol
Awesome, very kind thank you!! Hopefully you’ll enjoy my channel ☺️
Flash Fill 🥰
You could convert into a table and respective SUM fn would change ya?
If in a table the SUM function would not update when data is filtered. You could add a total row to the table itself but this will always be at the bottom.
@@How_2_Excel oh 🆗
Are you serious
Always
Are you guilty of this?
Wow, Ms Lardashian had a decent output 😅😅
Haha 😂
That isnt an issue with Sum
Have you come across this issue with SUM before?
But other than that, great video
Cheers
XLOOKUP should have been in there!
Yep, that is a great one to know. I’ve done a full video on XLOOKUP too
Agree!
Link for the FREE file in description 😊
I identify so much with what Tom van der Linden is saying in this video he is literally me.😉
Nice description. I am definitely on the side of the minority in this discussion! For me, pivot tables are hugely powerful but it comes at a price. That is, the effort it takes to familiarise oneself with the myriad of options and controls required to make the code do what you want rather than what it thinks you should want. That and the fact that I invariably forget the refresh step, just as I do using 'calculation manual'. GroupBy and PivotBy offer valuable functionality as part of the formula environment with a wide range of uses (for example I have used the functions to provide alternative presentations of the costs calculated on the basis of FIFO. A check box switches to result from simple list to crosstab).
Thank you! It has been one of the most diverse conversations I’ve seen with any new function that’s for sure 😃. I love the use case you’ve created with them, very nice!
