this shi so magnificent it made me almost cry. jojo seems so simple and weird on the surface but its meaning go way deeper than any show trying to be "deep" like attack on titan or something (not to hate ilove aot but it can still feel preachy.) the only thing which has come to achieve this exact feel in modern anime is prolly chainsaw man

I still don't understand how tusk targets Wonder Of U/Calamity part 7 because from what i understood the only calamity influencing force in part 7 was love train. Like how dose tusk targeting Valentine bleed into Wounder Of U in part 8?

This is a late addition, but considering what has been developing in part 9, these "shortcuts" seem to be that focal point with mechanisms and the flow of stuff? Someone smarter could make a better connection here?

It's interesting to see how part 9 is already starting to show similar themes. Jodio and Dragona's ideas of 'the mechanism' and 'the absurd' seem to me like another version of 'good fortune' and 'calamity'.

I was hooked the second you explained Act IV shooting Johnny was just its function as trying to kill its original target of the disease. Wonderful analysis. JoJoLion will have mysteries that will continue to be unearthed for years I expect. The strangest JoJo part for sure, but also the deepest.

I don't know if anyone will read this, but I had the question after watching of "why did calamity latch onto the Higashikatas in the first place?" As far as I'm aware, neither Johnny, nor Rina or Norisuke, did anything to provoke WoU, so why them? My personal interpretation is that it's a side effect of ACT4 breaking through Love Train. If you think about it, it doesn't really make sense that Love Train would just not work just because Tusk was stronger than it. I believe that maybe being broken apart inflicted Love Train with so much misfortune that the person responsible, or even in direct contact with it, was cursed with an equivalent amount of misfortune; enough to break the power of the holy corpse, or enough to break the will of a bloodline forever. Essentially, the infinite miraculous power of Tusk ACT4 battling against the infinite karmic power of the Holy Corpse for a century.

If I understand this correctly... the spin has just become infinitely more terrifying. True Golden Rotation doesn't just transcend all barriers, its energy transcends, if not manipulate Fate itself until its target is eradicated. This takes me back to Gyro & Johnny vs Valentine, while the initial Ballbreaker throw didn't quite defeat Valentine due to its physical conduit limitations, the energy still remained , letting Johnny made use of it and finished the job via a much better Spin conduit provided by Tusk. It's as if Fate let Johnny had his hand on the steel ball, and use it on his horse to kickstart his own Perfect Golden Spin in a way. Like wise, when Johnny shot at the "Calamity" that plagued the Higashikata years ago, the Golden Rotation already homed in on the Calamity itself, but physical bullet cannot kill conceptual being like Calamity. The reason it took so long is because the Golden Rotational energy patiently latched itself on to Fate, waiting for the perfect "bullet" to appear and deliver the attack - who we all know now, is Josuke and the uncontrollable bubble from Soft&Wet Go Beyond. The only difference is that Johnny is aware about the Spin while Josuke isn't, until the very end. Still, Josuke "plunder" ability is very reminiscent of Tusk Act 3, where Johnny can shoot himself with the Golden Rotation and pull himself into a pocket dimension and can transport part of himself, or his entire body back via the bullet hole. The inside of S&W bubble is like a pocket dimension that can store physical concept but still maintain its connection to the world via the pop holes, and can still return the physical concept without harming it. What I'm trying to get is, S&W might have always been the Golden Spin in a way, but Josuke just isn't aware of it. Fate has bestow the Golden Rotation to Josefumi/Josuke, for he is the miraculous existence capable of defeating Calamity, now in the form Wonder of U. The only way to counter Perfect Golden Rotation is to either nullify it with a reverse version of the same rotation, or chop that part of your body off (like Diego Brando) and throw it away, kinda like redirecting the Rotational Energy way in the most dangerous game of Hot potato ever. Valentine and WoU didn't do that, so a "bullet" has already set in stone and greet them in future, sooner or later. The most crazy parts? Unlike Stands where you've gotta be lucky to get a powerful one like Wonder of U, anyone with a ball and a horse can perform Perfect Golden Rotation and "curse" the target to eternal damnation just like WoU did. And that's why The Spin is probably the best "common power system" that Araki has made yet. It's ridiculously powerful, anyone can do it, but you need the skill to execute it, and the effect is not always instantaneous. It's a lot of extra step, but in the end, the virtually infinite damage dealt pays off.

My personal theory on the Family Curse; Ol' Gram Gram Higashikata was a Rock Human. Who ate the Equivalent Exchange fruit to become human. This however created a curse, that all his offspring would have to endure. As Carbon & Silicone life forms were never meant to coexist.

A thing that confused me..the first time I heard of part 8 Josuke I always thought it was a continuation of Part 4 Josuke’s Life deciding to become a Sailor and lose Crazy Diamond but Gain a new stand “Soft & Wet” but the reason I thought of that was because I never knew of Steel Ball Run or the fact it was all in a different universe.

This video made JoJo and especially JoJolion better for me than I even anticipated. Seeing all the themes Araki ever worked on and expanded upon in his story come into play and converge is truly insane. Topics of Fate, Gravity, Fortune, Calamity and Flow seamleassly and unnoticeably intertwining for this grand finale was definitely a roller-coaster of a ride. This is why part 8 is among my favorite parts. Thanks for this phenomenal video, Luis.

It's a bit ironic that at the time Dio was the trope of a character that is evil just because but now it's refreshing because every villain nowadays has to be a misunderstood character trying to make the world a better place by the wrong methods and pure evil characters just for the hell of it are rare. No Dios heaven plan isn't him trying to help society it's him wanting to rule the world because he's just pure evil

25:10 because josuke's bubbles are directly confirmed to be lines which spin fast enough to appear as such, the bubbles of Killer Queen and Soft & Wet (Josefumi) are more than likely the same, making their bubbles more than simply ideal conduits for the spin, but rather a direct showcase of the spin. You actually touch on the moment where Mamezuku confirms that Josuke's bubbles are spinning lines. This doesn't really change anything about the theory, but I felt like it was lacking enough mention in the video.

Amazing video, these connections are amazing but it makes me think of what jojolion could have been. Introducing toru earlier, cutting some of the mysteries that go nowhere, fleshing out go beyond like you have here. “Something that doesn’t exist… that does exist” made absolutely no sense to me, but the idea that the soft and wet bubbles are carrying the influence of a long dead saint’s attack is awesome. Josuke tapped into a power not by regaining his memories or memories of tusk 4, but by carrying on a dream that’s been manifesting itself meagerly through the century

this is one of the best theories i’ve ever watched period, completely recontextualized the story for me and made me love it even more
