I think Diesel Patches inadvertently admitted to why so many people dislike EVERYTHING idubbz says: they see current Idubbz as a betrayal to their perception of him in the past. It's why they try very hard to eventually bring up the "well you used to do the same thing in 2016" argument. It's a consequence of having an unhealthy parasocial relationship with a TH-camr, if they don't leave, they'll eventually "betray" what their fans liked about them, or they're trapped to sustain their audience and never grow and change.

I don’t like commentary channels (yes, I am am subbed to you, but I mostly skim but I did get suggested your channel) Diesel is kind of why. He is not offensively bad like overall, except when he wants to inform you that he knows nothing and just wants to be a hater. Like, I guess, I ignore him because he uploads too much slop. Idubbz is whatever. He is basically overhated because he had the audacity of basically of doing a 180 on his philosophy and videos. But that is why I think Diseal did a video, not much to it. He just doesn’t care he is a hypocrite. Because he just wants to throw stones from his internet house. Not that unusual from a bad commentary channel tbh.

Now, as for the actual topic of this video: Diesel probably thought he could just half-ass a video about Idubbbz because he's easy to hate (there are valid reasons to dislike current idubbbz but I digress) But remember: Just because someone is disliked and easy to hate doesn't mean that they're an easy target to make videos on. Slight side note: Like you mentioned, his first few videos focused on heavy metal music. He seems to overtly hate Thrash Metal, a subgenre that historically tends to be more politically left-leaning by in large. He also enjoys Black Metal-while BM isn't inherently political and there are definitely exceptions to the rule I'm about to mention, a lot of the politically charged BM tends to be on the far right of the spectrum. We're not talking "American Republican" right wing here, we're talking about self-admitted fascists with openly racist/anti-Semitic lyrics and imagery. This is a big "if" here but... If he does listen to THAT type of BM band, then the chances of him "just" being a grifter go down drastically.
