FLIP 4 user here. got the phone on sept 2022. 8 months later, june 2023 it will shut down when flipped. Sent to claim warranty and they changed the whole screen set with frame and hinges, and both batteries. Suprisingly 8 months later on feb 2024 it happened again. luckily i am on extended warranty so went back and they did the effing same thing, change the whole screen set with frames and hinges, and new batteries for both. my warranty will be over another 8 months so i hope if it happens again please before my warranty expires. they dont have an answer but someone on reddit said it might be the top half battery that is causing it.
Mannn i just got mine like 2 weeks ago not even able to enjoy the phone yet and boom! Same problem 😢 I just sent it to a local shop and they said it might be either a motherboard short issue or the batteries so i said F### it let's change both batteries and the motherboard n let's if this thing fixes the problem. I'm gonna go pick it up tomorrow and see what's the deal!
@@emawho5022 its nothing to do with the updated software. Its hardware. My first time was after i use the screen for about 1 hour 30 minutes switched on. I suspect the battery on the top hinge might went kaput after it got hot. Yours maybe happened when it gets hot while updating
@@talebsaad7246 im still with the original motherboard and without factory reset, they just changed the screen, frame and hinges, and batteries. The board and both rear covers are from the factory
I had my zfold 4 barely 1 year and now when I close it, the phone fully shut downs instantly. I have to hold the 2 buttons for a while to make the Samsung logo appear. Wtf is this garbage pgone?! To make matters worse, the in store support for Samsung is just as terrible as online support. They mail you a box and you wait 2 weeks without a phone!!! I am ditching Samsung after this 😂 😂😂😂

This is retarded. It's happening with my Z Fold 4 as well. How is this such a common issue across generations of these foldable phones when they cost so fucking much? And they seem to break in under a year?
My z fold 4 had the same issue this week. I just took it to Verizon yesterday 8/13/23 because i have it for less than a year and it's supposed to be covered by the factory warranty. They ordered me a new one over night for free. So if you're having any issues with your phone and it still under one year old. You should be covered under the factory warranty. Don't wait until it expires or use your insurance claim which it will cost you money with the deductible.
This won't be fixed anyway, the issue has persisted since 1st gen, what cause it? Short Circuit, where? Somewhere inside board, how? Dust are the silent enemy for electrical circuit and electrical board can pull the dust like magnet, and the folded phone makes dust easier to enter the gap between screen and hinge, dust particle can be very very small and smaller than water particle, that's why samsung never mention dust protection rating, just water resistant rating, the solution? Keep your phone in clean environment area
I got the same issue and the battery, display, frame, hinge replacement. Its almost like brand new.. everything under warranty and fixed within 2 days..

I have the exact same issue that also just dissapears when I plug in the charger. Happy to see that it is not only my phone that does this. Taking it to a Samsung retailer ASAP

SO I TRIED EVERYTHING, THE ONLY THING THAT WORKED FOR ME WAS I SENT IT TO SAMSUNG TO GET REPAIRED AND IT TOOK 3 WEEKS FOR IT TO COME BACK I DIDNT PAY A DIME BECAUSE THEY SENT THE INFO ON THE RETURN LABEL AND STUFF. NOTE, AS LONG AS ITS UNDER WARRANTY U SHOULD BE FINE. I SENT THIS RIGHT NOW SO YOU GUYS DONT WASTE YOUR TIME I HAD 1 MONTH THANK GOD I WAS STILL WITHIN THE WARRANTY YEAR. SO GO AND GET IT FIXED NW :) THATS ALL
So in Switzerland the Samsung Service didnt accept my warranty. They wanted to pay 450 chf for display repair. I will never in life bying anymore fold, flips and all this gimmick shits.
@@TheBeci1230 honestly here in the US i just got lucky that it happened to me just before my warranty ended. Yeah sadly i had to buy a phone whilst ot was gone and it cost me like 200 bucks. But moral of the story actually is, always get a protective service just incase especially cuz these phones are still new and they havent really ironed out their kinks yet. Im sorry u had to gp throught that man, that really sucks :(

All i had to do was send it to like ups together witht the samsung label they provided (the one in the website) then poof they tool it and returned it to me lime it was brand new, ots still the same phone tho, i think lol

FOR ANYONE FACING THIS ISSUE: THIS IS A HARDWARE DEFECT. It is covered by the warranty. Take it to Samsung care and they fix it for free. Happened to me last week. Samsung changed the screen and the housing.
I sent mine to Samsung and they said since my screen is cracked (where it folds) the warranty won't cover it because of physical da mage. They tried charging me $377.79 to repair it.
It's a fault with the lower battery, i'm told......shorting where it is connected to the motherboard. Repair covered under warranty....outside of warranty, it'll be a big repair bill & not worth the value of the phone considering the likelihood of the fault re-occurring.
mine does the same thing, it works fine if i open it fully or close it fully but i can't prop it up partway unfortunately, i believe its a wire inside thats causing it Love the phone still, just can't wait for it to not be so "prototypey"

Keep rubbishing the model, because so far all 3 have this problem the 4th generation is yet to be proven. All the same most car manufacturers recall their vehicles but have Samsung over this shitphone problem. Noooo. I read in thr preview of them the flip test machine broke down after thousands of flips with nothing wrong, well either it was a 1 in a million phone that didn't have this problem or the art of bullshitting came into play ,either way it's unacceptable as I am a retired pensioner that does not flip my phone 25000 times , I would probably be a 100 years old before that time. I would be loathe to ever buy any model of Samsung flip again When I am quoted $800, to fix the problem that BTW I've never had with my original Motorola flip. Lshalme on you again samsung .

best option is to factory reset.....after i update, it occur same issue on my flip 4. after i reset my phone the issue solved.

I have this issue and was told any dents or marks or scratches on the phone will void the warranty

It's covered under warranty. Same phone. They just replace the screen and anything damaged removing it.
