One of Mason's favorite things to do at Grampa's is exploring for critters. I use these old bed liners for weed control, they also seem to be a wonderful home for garter snakes

Fisher plow, install hacks, Minute Mount 2
มุมมอง 80K6 ปีที่แล้ว
How to install a Fisher V plow in less than ideal conditions. 3 hacks. Installed on a 2018 GMC Sierra
Your "hacks" are missing an important step. It starts with removal. When you drop the plow, float mode, compress cylinder, pull the jack lever, and the jack falls. The most important part is the following: take both hands and push the headgear toward the truck until you hear the jack click into the next higher hole. The pins will now come out easier with less need for pressure from you pushing the headgear back since you essentially locked the headgear higher, and the plow will install easier next time you pull up.
ALWAYS CARRY A TORCH OR USE A HEAT GUN FOR MALLABLE RUBBER
I built a platform out of 2x4's with 6 in wheels. I have it on a concrete pad. I roll it up to the truck easy and perfect everytime. Takes all of a minute. No more getting into and out of the truck to check and or jacking it up cause of snow or sinking in mud.
outstanding!
All of the photos were taken by my wife Rhonda.
Thank you i have a 8.5’ v on a chevy 2500 . I swear most times i mountbit , outdoors, in the cold ! One time it lined right , a friend said just “ rock the head mast” back & forth but if too low you just get frustrated & talk to yourself lol! My wife will be happy not to hear my snow day “why the F dont they do ?? Rant!! Lol i will try those.?had this on three diff. Chevys since 2015 and love the plow. If this hack fails me im just leaving this god damn thing on the truck permanent and buy another truck to drive! Lol Good luck all . Duct tape pull handles on those connections (get black duct tape, looks better than silver) also di electric grease on connections .. Im sctuslly heading put shortly to disconnect my plow.. if i have to hook it up tomorrow it will appear that someone else dropped that much out of height alignment! Lol
Nice mound you got there
nice looking shop you built, shows quality construction.
Thanks, I enjoyed building it.
nice one
Waiting on a new video.
Thank you for your video at 4.05. I was wondering why it wasn't moving. I kept on having trouble moving to get the play on the plow.
instead of plugging it in to raise the frame.... just pull the headgear towards the plow. problem solved
When unhooking I always put it in float and push the ram down. After I remove the plow I connect a pull strap from the frame to the center of the plow and cinch it tight. Then the frame never drops. Since I started doing this I've not had any hookup problems.
I permanently attached a small length of chain to the center of the plow and on the other end of the chain I have a hook that I connect to the lift chain after pulling the plow head back.
Easy fix buy western pull in hook up n go
Drop your plow on plywood under blade and a small piece under jack than hope the lazy ass dealers do there job so the plow goes to float when dropped most don't for 5 to 7500 dollars they should. Unfortunately the usa is full of lazy fucks nice tips
Use Die Electric Grease in/on connectors. Squeeze into female ends. They will never freeze on again and keep you pins from corroding(turning green).
Die Electris grease is a MUST if you want to keep your connections making contact thru the season. 🙂
Not bad but I would have had 3 driveways done with my Western by the time you got it on your truck
LMFAO
Aligning plow would give me he'll by myself.... now i use hitch alignment tennis balls... u get at home depot or Harbour freight...
Excellent video 👍👍👍
Smart man. Thanks for the video
Old video But brings back all the aggravation of the fisher I had. Minute mount my ass. Those pins had to be perfect or you were going to have a really shit time and end up getting pissed off and tired before your day even started. I now have a western mvp3 and the connection process is night and day. You just have to be in the ball park and just lift and lock the supports and your done. No fucking around. Keep ‘em greased is all!
Alignment is no problem, but the lowness of the plow frame always causes me difficulty with getting the pins to lock in. This method of connecting the plow electrics and raising it a bit is intriguing. I may try it next time.
Is there any way to make it stack higher
Hey You running a Diesel in the truck? Thank you
Not a diesel. There are issues with putting the 9ft plow with a diesel because of weight.
Ok. I have a Hemi
Take a measurement of the hoe boom with the bucket straight down. Note that on the boom usually at 4 ft. When thats even with the ground while in the hole that's the depth.
trick for the cold plug cap,use chapstick same with the top edge of you window glass during the cold season
Boss SMARTHITCH for dummy's like me & you. Use ur finger , not ur back
take a long piece of blue painters tape and stretch it across the top of your drivers side plow light and up your hood....
You're from NH! Me too
Grab the loop on truck side while holding plow side harness and pull off the cover.
Yeah add a bit of snow under the tires and it can be a bugger to get hooked up! I keep my plow on flat boards so it can slide and not freeze down. Keep the pins and everything greased well too. Thanks for the tips , it can be no fun hooking up alone at times.
No sure about this but I have the same plow it’s called a minute mount it normally only takes about one ☝️ minute
On bare level ground. These guys cant figure out theres a height difference when it snow s
I have a new fisher I looked at the boss the frame sets really low to low. Fisher & Western is the best commercial plow. Thanks
Hey what truck do you have. I just purchased a 2019 dodge 2500 quad Hemi.
joseph puchel 2018 F350 Super Duty all aluminum body. 6.2L lockers in rear. 10.300 GVW boss plow frame sits to low in front issues doing dirt road. peace brother
.
just curious why is it called a hack. in my world , a hack is a shitty job or a poor way to do something . a helpful tip is something useful and beneficial.
Im with you, i figure im old… 63 yrs . A hack was not a good thing, you avoid being a hack or being involved with a “ hack” .. lol
My dog Sydney wants so bad for me to throw her toy. That's a never ending chore.
That's what's up! Thank you for a REAL video using common sense and usable hacks, if you get a minute let me know the advantages of a v plow
Thanks so much I was struggling for hours trying to hook up- your trick about hooking power, etc was the trick- now I have a Minute mount versus the 30 minute mount prior to your video oh and my wife thanks you
We have 2 ultra mounts. 1 unimount and Arctic plow. The arctic isn’t too back But the ultra mount is really easy.
Oh, to line up the plow I put a piece of duck tape on the headlight back that lines up with the markings on the hood of my Tundra that are right in front of the driver. Works every time.
Fred what plow you using on a Tundra just got a Fisher ht.
I just hit the thumbs up button for a guy from Mass based on his using a bungee to hold the mount level so you can drive into it... you beat that guy using the builtin tilt method by hooking up the harness first. Damn son , that was worth it right there!
This is why I like my Western UltraMount. So easy to hook up
Quick hack: for the harness covers. I use 3 pieces of four inch long layers of duck tape top and bottom of the harness to use as a pull tab works great done it for years
Huh ?
Press the down button and hold it a few seconds.
How did you get the plow in float mode? Thanks
On mine; you press and hold down the down button on the joystick; until, the float light comes on (in the top right of the joystick).
I have a minute mount 2 and I can install it on my 2500 in less than a minute. It takes 20 minutes to warm the tractor up.. But in under a minute I can pick up the blade with my bucket, use curl and dump to line everything up perfect, drive right in and lock the pins.
Plows now.are cheaper built. Plows back then you have trouble moving they were built like tanks!
Were you hitting high ground water? How did you know how deep to consistently dig? Great video!
1 800 dig safe............ lol, good vid
Looks nice enough. But the absolute BEST mounts are the Western Ultra Mount. 1 person. 1 minute. 1 successful plow mounting on your truck. I have 2 of them.1 is a 14 year old V plow & the other is a 12 year old Straight blade. They will last me as long as I want them to last.
