    I have a question, I was in the military for 21 years and have ptsd and real bad anxiety and panic attacks now. So what kind of oil do you recommend for me to use ? Thank you 😊

    • @PersonalPlants
      @PersonalPlants 16 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Thanks for your question, and your service. The right product and dose depends a lot on your prior experience with cannabis and your specific symptoms. Assuming you are newer to cannabis and that your symptom is primarily anxiety, I would recommend something high in CBD and low in THC. Too much THC can make anxiety worse, while CBD can have anti-anxiety effects. If you have access to tinctures, this could be a product that is 5:1 CBD:THC. If you only have access to vape pens or flower, try and find a product that is fairly low in THC (15% or less). If you are not able to find this, then get the lowest THC product you can find and use a very small dose, like one hit from the pen or joint/bowl and see how you feel before taking any more. If you also have trouble sleeping, I recommend looking for a gummy that has THC and CBN. CBN can help you fall asleep, and THC can dampen dream activity. Again, start with a small dose (<5mg THC) until you know how it affects you. The goal is to find your minimum effective dose (MED). This is the smallest dose you can take and still get the effects you are looking for. Finding your MED helps prevent the build up of tolerance and also helps prevent any unwanted side effects.

      @@PersonalPlants Thank you so much and yes I'm new to this. I live in SC but I can get Hemp products. I'm tired of feeling like a zombie and don't know if I'm coming or going. The SSRI's and other meds have to many side effects on my body. I just want to get the real thing because they are so many out there saying their are the best. I want to feel normal again. And GOD bless you for helping and teaching others.

      @@armysnoopy1562 You are very welcome! If you have access to hemp products then you also likely have access to hemp derived Delta 9 THC in the form of drinks, gummies and vape pens. If you can find a low dose THC product, preferably with some CBD in it as well, that would be your best bet. Remember to start low and go slow. And, if you are currently on SSRI’s, do not stop them cold turkey. Ask your doctor how to slowly wean yourself off of them. If you feel comfortable talking to them about using cannabis, do so, but if you do not, then just talk to them about slowly reducing your SSRI dose.

    Thank you at Amanda Reiman PhD MSW for the opportunity to share some thoughts on the safety of vaping concentrated cannabis. This is separate from dry herb vaporizing, which is a safer inhalation option for many. As a nurse, providing education in cannabis healthcare, I most often encourage the healthcare consumers I work with to consider a toolbox of plant and other medicines (with different routes of administration for different needs and times) to optimize their health. #cannabisismedicine #cannabisnurses #tellyourdoctor #publichealth

    This is a topic near and dear to our hearts. Basing your shopping habits on science is key. I think one key thing to keep in mind is that cannabis is still not shipped across state lines so even an MSO dispensary will need to carry products only grown in that particular state. Another interesting piece of the puzzle is that if you are in CA for example the growing conditions can vary greatly creating two plants from the same genetics with very different profiles. Understanding what you need as a consumer in the way of terpenes, cannabinoids, or flavonoids is the most reliable method for consistency.

    • @PersonalPlants
      @PersonalPlants 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I agree. Finding the right mix of cannabinoids and terpenes is key. One thing I have noticed, is that even though everything at a dispensary is grown in that state, larger brands seem to gravitate towards strains that have mass appeal (e.g. Gelato), and that are easier to grow in large gardens with high yield. While smaller producers provide unique strains that may not have as robust a yield, but contain unique cannabinoid and terpene profiles. Sometimes that also have a lower THC %, while high THC seems to be consistent across larger brands.

    Yes, the idea that using marijuana makes you lazy and unproductive is very wide-spread. Yet I work with and rely on both people who use cannabis and those who don't. There is not any correlation between how fast these people respond to my emails or how hard they work or think and whether they use cannabis or not.

    This should not be a "let's see how interesting this gets if cannabis is rescheduled as a schedule 3 like tylenol with codeine"......we should not have to continue this game, just deschedule cannabis.

    • @PersonalPlants
      @PersonalPlants 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes, if you look at the science, it should be descheduled, or never have been entered into the CSA to begin with. Unfortunately, its current status as a Schedule I drug and the decades of propaganda around the plant have made descheduling an all but impossible move for the HHS to propose and a very impossible one for the DEA to support. I think one benefit of having cannabis as a Schedule III or IV, is that it could be covered by insurance, which would help a lot of medical consumers access the plant more easily.

    Thank you for this educational video! I learned something new! However; it should be clarified that saying “Delta 11” is incorrect in this case. Delta 9 THC is processed by the liver to become 11-hydroxy THC, which is much different that the minor cannabinoid Delta 11, which is naturally occurring in the plant in small amounts.

    • @PersonalPlants
      @PersonalPlants ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for the feedback! Yes, I often use the two terms interchangeably, especially when speaking to a lay audience, as they understand that 11 is more than 9 so it helps illustrate that it is still THC, just s stronger version. But point absolutely taken. I am glad you enjoyed the video!

    The Gateway Theory was popularized in the early 1970’s when there was a general cultural realization in America that the government was greatly exaggerating the dangers of marijuana use. Since 1937 the federal government had been insisting that the use of marijuana inevitably led to “insanity, criminality and death.” But millions of young Americans used marijuana in the 1960’s and they found that marijuana use was more likely to lead to peace, love and happiness. The Gateway Theory was an actually an acknowledgement that previous information about marijuana was inaccurate. The government still refused to reform its marijuana laws, but now justified the harsh penalties by saying: “Maybe marijuana isn’t as dangerous as we said it was, but it can lead to more dangerous things.”

    • @PersonalPlants

      Very interesting context! I used to show old drug propaganda movies to my students to analyze the messaging and it was so common to see some clean cut suburban teen try a joint and then in the next scene being injected by heroin. I agree that the message to parents was, pot may look pretty tame, but it will cause your innocent child to get lost to heroin.
