My MKE project is 2002-03ish, so I am champing at the bit for that Gemini YX 717. Need more than just my SMA DC-9 and Phoenix 717 (and its stubby cigar nose). Trickiest thing is finding a 1:400 B-25 like the one they have on display out front. Can't even find a 3D printed version of that little WW2 bird.

I love this, my smaller, home airport is getting some recognition. I’m still waiting for the moment that FSD announces SCX or SWA Daily flights. Maybe once they get done with the expansion they’ll announce it, who knows

Lots of good stuff you got to see there, especially the special liveries on some of the Alliegent and Delta aircraft. I'll be heading to Fort Lauderdale tomorrow on a Spirit Airlines flight, apparently from what I heard, the Miami location of The Airplane Shop doesn't get a lot of visitors. Not sure if this is true but if this is the case, I might find something interesting there.

What’s the address of the Miami Airplane Shop? I am a little confused because I read somewhere that the store recently move location. I plan on going next month.

Great video! What’s that new source you’re using to gather flight/equipment info?

For now, talks with the first airline about DC routes have kind of fallen off. The current size and state of the terminal actually factors very little into the overall decision-making. It has to do with demand, aircraft usage, and politics. A DC flight on any airline to/from here would be on a regional jet, and airlines don't have a whole lot of interest right now in using their regional jets for flights like FSD to the DC area. Cedar Rapids and Des Moines might have them, but they are stretching the limits. However, we are a bigger market than Cedar Rapids, so FSD is trying to use that as leverage, but it'll take a lot more pressure to convince them. We've also entertained DC flight talks with another airline who is at least somewhat interested, but all of the same risks above apply. As far as international flights, we have the capability to run international flights as far as legalities and accommodations, but it's all about the demand, like you said. However, I don't think it's unreasonable to think that Frontier might throw us a Cancun route within the next several years (purely speculation, though). We definitely have the means to accommodate it on our side. Unfortunately, Southwest has said they have zero interest in serving Sioux Falls for a while. Any metro market that Southwest serves usually has a prerequisite of a 500,000+ population. The Sioux Falls metro is just over 1/2 of that size. We would essentially have to double our size as a city for them to bat an eye at us. We will very, very likely have new airlines that try us out before they do.
