Thank you so much!
So cool!! Such beautiful scenery there!
Thanks!
.....i paused the video....glad i went back to the END!! I'll just say wow! Soooo beautiful and educational....love it!💜😊
Thank you so much! I am really glad you enjoyed this.
💜Thanks for the tour! The angle at the end gives me such an old English or Scottish church vibe? It's a beautiful spot... someone could fix it up and move in!😁 The stones are awesome...
It does have that feel with the great rock workmanship.
Hey Jim. I’ve been enamored of this location ever since you posted these pics. I have a couple questions i’ll ask on the website.
Thanks!
So stunning!
I appreciate that! It was a beautiful night.
Thank you so much for making these timelapse videos
Thank you so much! It's so fun to do, I enjoy watching the night sky all night long.
That’s very cool!!
p.s....i know you had a little help with the beautiful part😁😉...but you captured it and otherwise, I'd never gotten to experience it!! 👍🏿👍🏽👍🏼
@@EarthFlow_erPower thank you so much! I am just an instrument to capture the beauty around us, I am glad you appreciated it. I also hope more people can see my photography. I enjoy sharing it. Little by little the channel keeps growing. Hopefully one day something will click and the channel could go viral though, that would be pretty cool.
Hey there!! I sure hope more people get to see your work... it's absolutely brilliantly beautiful...💜💜💜
I found the best channel thank you so much
You are so kind! I am just having fun exploring this beautiful world we live in.
The big for sale building on your left as you were driving through is the old Goldfield Hotel, it was featured prominently in the movie Vanishing Point. Up until a couple of years ago it was undergoing some remodeling to be re opened by an owner from San Francisco but I guess he gave it up..
Thanks for that info. I didn't know it was in Vanishing Point. Yeah, I didn't see any active remodeling going in.
Visited 5 years ago when it was a NM, and it was incredibly memorable. Can't wait to get a chance to visit again. I added a comment on another video of yours asking for insight how to access for a few hours after closing to give a milky way shot a chance. I heard you talk about the permit in this video but that was to get in earlier. I'm hoping to stay up to 3 hrs late
Thanks for your other comment. I left you with a bit of info on your question. Just know that no matter what of the 2 options I listed showed you, the gate gets locked and you can't get out until the morning.
How incredibly fun that must have been. You got some beautiful colors and shot the light I prefer. I just came upon your video after entertaining the idea of driving from WA State to try some MW photos but saw that they close at dusk and a special use permit is needed to be in after normal business hours. Would you by chance be able to give me some ideas about getting in after dark? Is there a campground that gets you in? TIA.
Thanks so much for your kind comments, it would be worth the drive. For this image, I actually made sure I was one of the last to leave the park as the Ranger was driving around and getting everyone out. At Sunset I had walked out into a less traveled part of the dunes, and set up my Nikon D850 and Sigma 14mm f1.8 with a battery bank to keep it running all night. I set it at my normal Milky Way settings, and I just let it go and went back to my truck. In the morning, I made sure to get there an hour before it opened and I was the first one in so I could go back and get my camera. I just let it run all night. I figured the gate was locked so it would be safe. :) There is a back country camping area with 10 or 12 sites. It's a mile from the road and so you have to backpack in to it. I have done that so I could be in the park all night a few years back. But it's currently closed for renovations. But thats the only camping allowed there. The only other legit way to be in there and stay in there, is to book onto a Night time Workshop. There is atleast one guy who is running those, but I don't recall his name. You could probably google it or call the rangers and ask them. But of course that will cost you a few hundred dollars at a minimum, just guessing what the person might charge for a single night workshop. It could be more.
@@focalworldphotography5322 I can't get over how smart that is to leave your camera set up like that. Never would have considered doing so. Did the park rangers come out on the trail where you were set up to ask you to leave or did you do your best to estimate no one would be on the trail and you made it back to the parking lot where the park rangers sweep the area? In my example date sunset is 6:47pm. I'm thinking I would need to be back at the alkali flat trailhead making sure no one walks out with my gear and not drive out until the park ranger indicates to do so?
@@markleonard4062 White Sands is huge, so you don't really see Rangers hiking or walking around at all. The occasional drive by, so there was no Ranger to ask any questions. And I just parked in an area where no one else was at, I still looked around, but there was no one anywhere by me. That's part of why I felt safe leaving my D850. If you are able to go during the week, that will in decrease the amount of people in their as well. And there are certain parts, perhaps based on the parking areas that people tend to congregate in. So just pick a spot where people aren't at. As you drive the loop road you can get a feel for it. Also I want to invite you to join www.FocalWorld.com thats a photography site I started about 10 year ago with a bunch of friends. It's small, but we are friendly. :) It would be great to have you there.
@@focalworldphotography5322 hey, thank you for the invite. I'll check it out. Also appreciate the clarification on how to set up out there. Now I need an expanded battery pack and 2 massive SD cards 👍
What was that at [0:53]?
The White Sands Missile Base is there, so I am not sure what they shot off, but it would have been from there. It's certainly odd looking isn't it?
Please tell me about the Rehoboth McKinley hospital.
So cool!!
Thanks!
I thought i saw lots of shooting stars early on... how can i tell the difference in case it's a meteor (tail)? I can't believe how many stars are really out there!! Beautiful 💜
Thank you so much! A couple of ways to tell the difference between a meteor and a satellite. A Meteor will be a quick one time flash. You can't see it here because the timelapse moves fast, but you will also see in a still photo (like the one at the end) where one or both ends will be pointed. The Satellites will be moving constantly across the sky, or sometimes with the new Starlink Satellites, that will bunch up in an area and it will be a constant bombardment of thin lines in the sky.
Wow....thanks! That's information I didn't know about...well, we might think we know...😁 So, the traffic early on was satellites?! I do have a still photo somewhere of Halebop from maybe 1998? I'll have to look up the name and date😆💜
@@EarthFlow_erPower A photo of Hale Bopp? That would be super cool to see.
@@focalworldphotography5322 it's a souvenir photo... nothing I took a picture of...😁💜

Awe!!!! Thank you so much! I did really enjoy how nice that itty bitty Aurora was that night!
It's an amazing show of light... maybe it's bit larger than itty bitty 😆😉 (I had a cat few years back & I called her Iddy Biddy)...the last part with a purple flame....WOW!
@@EarthFlow_erPower Ha ha, that's funny you had a cat with a similar name. And I guess it could be a little larger then Itty Bitty, but after photographing the Aurora a few months ago when the whole sky was filled with it, this felt Itty Bitty at the time. :)
Great video again! Thanks for sharing 👍👍🤩🤩
Thank you!
Thanks for the beautiful video!!! Informative 🤩🤩🤩
I really appreciate your compliment!

That was so Beautiful Jim!!
Thanks!
Nice work Jim. That must have taken some serious time for shooting and editing. Well done.
I appreciate that Trent! It can take me 3 to 4 days to assemble a timelapse as I am really picky, and often will redo the raw conversion several times until it looks like I want it to look. Not counting going frame by frame looking for stray lights to remove. that's really time consuming.
Wow!! Jim this is absolutely stunning!! Such incredible work!
Thank you! It was such a beautiful wedding.

Amazing! What camera/lens setup do you use to capture these great timelapse video? Greetings from Germany 🇩🇪 🇺🇸 🍻
Welcome to you all the way from Germany! This was shot with the Nikon D850 and the Sigma 14mm f1.8 lens. For me it's the best Milky Way combo there is.
Yeah, that happens when you're so close to Las Vegas. If you want better and darker skies, go more North up towards Tonapah.
That's a great suggestion. I have captured the Milky Way in another timelapse from near Tonopah. It's a super cool area up there. Thanks!
tyy for video
Nice job!
I really appreciate that!
Very beautiful BUT it does not connect and you have to turn around and go back to entrance before going further west to Theodore Roosevelt National Park, which is also beautiful
Wow! So beautiful and amazing!
Thanks!
Awesome display and capture. Almost makes me want to stay up past my bedtime and try some timelapse. 🙂Come September, I'm doing Black Canyon. I am scouting some 4wheel drive roads in and around Montrose but if I have time, I may drive up to Independence Pass for a look see.
Yankee Boy Basin is the best one around there. It's out of Ouray, so a little bit away from Montrose. You also can go up Engineer Pass from there and access the Alpine Loop. I can't think of any really good 4x4 roads right by Montrose. There might be, but nothing comes to mind.
Solid job Jim! 👍
Thanks so much, I am happy with how it turned out.
Best wedding video ever, thank you so much Jim! ❤
