Ghost Town Wonders
United States
เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 7 เม.ย. 2021
We have a passion for exploring abandoned ghost towns and other western towns with a long and compelling history. I have endeavored to research the best and most accurate historical information available. The videos are created with satisfaction of great labor. The labor I have undertaken, although imperfections exist, I am confident care has been taken to present the facts as they have been written. In addition to the history, I have personally visited all of the sites and tried to capture the beauty of the desert open plains, rugged mountain ranges and whatever wildlife I may encounter. I sincerely hope you enjoy these video presentations as much as I enjoy the process of making them.
Berlin-Ichthyosaur State Park
Check out this beautiful area of Nevada and its rich history. The State Park is a great resource for information and a great tour of the Ichthyosaur fossils. I enjoy exploring these areas and bringing my adventure to life and sharing with all of you. Thanks for watching.

In 1863 a local Indian revealed a good specimen of silver ore to, “Famous Scout, Prospector, Expert Rifleman, and Missionary to the Indians,” William Hamblin. Hamblin was one of those, ‘Mormons’, who founded Gunlock, Utah, in 1857 and came to Clover Valley in the early 60’s, and was said to be the first white man to settle in Meadow Valley. Later in 1872, Hamblin would be an essential witness i...

Owens Lake

This is a historical presentation of mining in and around Owens Lake. Owens Lake was given its present name by the explorer John C. Frémont, in honor of one of his guides, Richard Owens. Starting in 1913, the river and streams that fed Owens Lake were diverted by Los Angeles Department of Water and Power (LADWP) into the Los Angeles Aqueduct, and the lake level started to drop quickly. As the l...

Ballarat
มุมมอง 27K6 หลายเดือนก่อน
Today, Ballarat is a virtual ghost town. It was founded in 1897 as a supply point for the mines in the canyons of the Panamint Range. A quarter-mile to the south is Post Office Springs, a reliable water source used since the 1850s. George Riggins, an immigrant from Australia, gave Ballarat its name when he proposed it should be named for Ballarat, Victoria. The town was founded in 1897. In its ...

I love Dayton Nevada! Although it is growing, I am happy to know that most of it's history is well maintained and respected.
Good video.....Thanks!
Glad you liked it!
Another great video! Thank you Just explored an old mine in eureka utah last week. The adventures are out there if you're willing to get out and find them!
Sounds great! Thanks for watching. I’ll check out the mine you speak of in Utah
Great video! It's pronounced ik-thee-uh-sor. 😊
I worked at the Round Mountain gold mine in the 1970’s and always wanted to see this spot, but never got around to it. Thanks for taking us along!
Glad you like the video. Thanks for watching
Easily one of the absolute worst ghost towns in America. Want to see what an incompetent government can do? Go to Bodie, you’ll know in the first ten seconds of getting there. They turned a “ghost town” into a theme park.
Very informative, thanks for sharing.
i spend allot of time in this area, great video. Burro Smith is buried in that cool graveyard
"All in all you're just a, another brick in the wall"... Oh wait, wrong Berlin. 😂
Please tell me ANY of you folk's got that...
Ione, sounds like a pretty self important, entitled town...😂
You always do a great job on your videos showing interesting places, but you excel detailing the history of the places you visit. Keep up the fine work!

Good one! There is a Ione here in California also. Began 1848, a supply hub and stage/wagon stop between Sacramento/Stockton and the southern mines.
Thanks Terry. Glad you liked the video. I was aware of the Ione in CA. I have not visited that site though.
thank you!!!

Tonopha??
Excellent video. I've been through many times and have stopped to eat and do a little walking around. This really puts the place into perspective. Are any of the old mine sites accessible that are west of town?
Thanks for watching and glad you enjoyed the video. I did not explore a lot of the mines to the west so not sure how many are accessible. If you go be safe.
Outstanding video presentation thank you for huge effort to get the history lesson in.
Thank you kindly! Glad you enjoyed the video.
I live in Pioche and think your video was really good. Thanks for visiting and sharing

I always enjoy ur videos. You put a lot of work into researching the history of the sites you visit. Much appreciated.
Glad you like them!
I lived in Randsburg for a short time in the late eighties, I moved back to Kansas where at an antique mall, found 2 1950s Red Mountain calendars that were a Cadillac dealer in Red Mountain. Never knew it was that big at that time to have a dealer. It must have not been there for long. Great video, thanks!
Glad you liked the video Ron. Thanks for sharing your story.
I want to give you thanks for making that video it was very interesting to see some of the history you gave out about trona having my family of sixth generations live in there and working at the plant and majority of them still live there and work there although some have moved to Ridgecrest and because of the earthquake some have moved out of there but majority of my family members still work and live there in trona and the swimming pool that they're talking about that was an awesome place to go but what a lot of people don't know is across the street in the desert from the pool there's an oasis where there's a really nice waterfall and natural spring that the locals know about and go and hang out but have bonfires barbecue and swim in the waterfall okay maybe not swim but get wet in the waterfall which was awesome to do during the summer till this day most of my family members still live there and some of them are actually in management and working there at the plant so it was awesome to see someone do a little documentary video about trona once again you did a great job
Thanks so much for watching and sharing your story. Glad you liked the video.
My Grandmother lived in Goldfield with her father, a doctor, after the SF earthquake. She recalled seeing Diamond Lil at a bar as she peeked in and all the prostitutes waiting for custmers in front of their cribs. She said to get to Goldfield one had to take the stage coach - from Reno? She was 10 years old when she arrived and stayed until 14. Your presentation is much appreciated and i could see her at the places you mention.
Thanks for sharing your story. Glad you liked the video.
I hve actually stopped at the Silver Dollar bar when it was still open and had a drink or two to break up the drive to the Owens Valley.
My brother recently told me about this video and I was really excited to see it. Our grandparents lived, and passed, in Red Mountain, and are buried in Randsburg. My grandfather was a miner and my grandmother cooked for the miners. My brother lived with our grandparents for some time and I spent many summers as a kid in Red Mountain. It's been a long time since I have visited the area. I'm going to make an effort to do so in the future.
Glad you like the video Leslie. Thanks for sharing your story about this area.
Very interesting journey back in time. Much clearer pictures. Enjoyed this. Thanks for taking the time to share this.
Glad you enjoyed it
Great video and commentary about this amazing stop on the 395. I explored the site last year and can say it is an intense experience. Thank you for creating this video series on the 395.
Glad you enjoyed it
great video! Interesting history, wondered why that site until you explained the previous town there, makes sense. Glad you were able to fix the video, you included so many really well done black and white images of Manzanar. Hopefully our country never makes the mistake again of locking up our own citizens based on their heritage.
Many of those black and white photos were taken by Ansel Adams. Thanks for watching.
