Canon AE 1 - Focus Up | Everything you might want to know
On this episode of Focus UP!
Alrighty roo NERDS - this is everything I could find on the internet to get you Focused UP on the Canon AE-1. It’s me - Dill, join me as we talk a little history, significance, and some other random things about this legendary camera.
In the year 1974, amidst a world of brainless cameras, Canon embarked on a mission to revolutionize SLRs. Their goal? Make them accessible to everyone. Enter the Canon AE-1, born after months of science things and the incorporation of a computer chip. With automatic exposure the AE-1 made things easier for everyone.
Basically a bunch plastics and a thin layer of iron oxide, the AE-1had a metal feel while keeping costs down. Helping Canon establish themselves in the Camera market.
But how good was it, really? With over 1.2 million units sold in its first 20 months, id say its not “bad” but obviously having many first didn’t come without problems. And it ate batteries.
As for price, the AE-1 originally retailed for 81,000 yen, but today, its value varies widely depending on condition. Do what you want BUT personally, unless you want it for the history. It is not worth it.
The Canon AE-1 is pretty dang cool and remains a symbol of innovation in camera history. Thanks for joining me today (whatever day you are watching.

I want to start using my very sub par motion design skills. And well we are gonna have to deal with some tackiness for a bit till they get better. I also forgot proper workflows and worked myself into a corner so ya lol. Also sorry no 2...

This is great, I think some photos maybe don't hit for us right away, but in years you'll see them differently. It's also hard to take "interesting" photos in these situations, but I think these sort of photos are really important, and work in the sequence and matrix amongst each other. I think it's often easier to take a single banger photo than to make a sequence of photos that build an effect. I think there's some really nice photos here, and there's so many people just the idea of these photos will connect with. Also you should check out the photography of Deanna Dikeman, I think you might like her stuff!
I really appreciate these film review videos you’ve done. Also I definitely would equate myself to a “neighborhood photographer” but I also think I’ve just started using Documentary Photographer, as I feel like that’s more inclusive of this sort of work (and would probably include “street photography” as well).
Great video loved it I'm getting a Contax g1 green label, you should do Mamiya next
On a side note, what camera do you use for your videos? Your content is superb! I mean... seriously.
Never head of them
(its just Fomapan sold as Ultrapan)
get learning boi
The same way you went up..?
Not possible. I am still up here. Plz help me.
Great review
Thank you!
Not the open mouth TH-cam thumbnail.
its cringe right
Did it work?
yet to be determined
maybe the classic hand on chin?
I have the Canon AT-1 and I absolutely love it! In fact you inspired me to use Ilford HP5 plus and my god those photos were incredible!! I also like this direction in camera history it's pretty cool to get to learn more about the AE-1!
Oh amazing I am happy to hear. Thank you!
talking head photography videos suck
Yes thats why I use lots of motion design
Curious - did you watch or see a "talking head" and didnt give it a chance? I am genuinely trying to find something fresh in the photo space and right now I dont see anyone using motion design to help with story telling. I MAKE CONTENT CAUSE I HATE TALKING HEAD VIDEOS. BUT I still have to play the game ya know.
Last thing - what do YOU want to see from photography content?
Well that was very informative while I ate my Branflakes
Happy to help!
Can you review my family?
One day, maybe
Thanks for your suggestion
welcome!
I am in love with you
I love u bruh
I love you too bruh

Informative and funny. I laughed out loud at one part, so ah yeah, thanks for sprinkling that little bit of joy into my day. It is surely appreciated
i enjoy all videos! topics: - please explain the process of creating a double exposure where first picture becomes a mask for second picture (or other way around) :) - shooting long exposure moon trails - redscale photography - tilt-shift photography - ranking of experimental films like psych blues, yodica antares, bubblegum, etc

This is definitely for me. I need all the help I can get.
Always happy to help!
I used delta 400 in 1989

I thought that you didn't like doing shorts. Books I can find on my own, thanks. Doing your own original work Is what I'm talking about. Love you too.
I don’t, TH-cam makes it seem like I have to as a new/small channel. Will never stop original work.
@@dillonfraserOK, thanks for the explanation.
