Thanks for asking. Acetate is a semi synthetic fiber that resembles viscose but has somewhat breathability. But you are right, silk would be the absolute most luxurious choice for lining. I wouldn’t use cotton or linen because these fibers can be a little stiff and you want the lining to follow the movement of the body without obstructing it. Hope my answer makes sense! Best, Iben

Hi Elena! Thanks for your comment and purchase! Well, I do recommend 175 x 140 cm fabric for a size 36, so I think you'll be struggling to fit all the pieces in! BUT, you can scrap the collar and pockets which will free up some more space, so maybe that can be a solution? Let me know how you get on! Thank you so much for your kind words! Yes, lining doesn't have to be tricky. My top trick is to sew the outer layer first, then the lining, and then put the lining inside the jacket the way it should lay once the jacket is finished. Then I find it so much more straightforward to visualize what steps are next. I'm sure you'll be able to line the jacket your friend gave you! :D

Hi! Thanks for asking. Yes, I think a cotton jersey would be OK provided the fabric has good drape…. But perhaps a viscose jersey would be better. You can experiment a little 😊

Thank you for asking. Yes, it is intentional! Since the jacket is finished with bias binding all around the outer edge (including the front facing) there is no need to hide the seam allowance between the front of the jacket and front facing - we also need the seam allowance to stay on the outside of the jacket in order to cover it with visible bias binding! I know it seems counter-intuitive at first, but once you have the pattern in front of you, it will make sense! I hope this answers your question. Best, Iben

Thank you for commenting! Well, that's tricky (but I know your situation exactly!)... I recommend 1.8 m for a size 38 but if you are a pattern layout wizard you might juuuust be able to squeeze every single pattern piece in... You can cut the undercollar in a different fabric without it being noticeable. The hem pieces could potentially also be cut from another fabric and that might free up enough space. The only way to be sure is to print every pattern piece and lay them on the fabric at the same time :)
