Trying out my new Tri-cast 11ft commercial feeder rod with a spot of skimmer fishing. What a great rod it is and I fully recommend it. Although slightly thicker than my Acolyte rods the action is superb. If I am going to find fault with it - well its not the prettiest (but who cares). What a morning of fishing for skimmers at Springwater Coarse Lake! Turned up just before 9:00 and was the only one there. There had been a lot of rain the days preceding and the lake seemed to have an extra foot of water. Bit of a miserable March day, but plenty of bites. Restricted myself to only fish with 4mm and 8mm hard pellets on the pole. Would of caught more if I'd brought caster, maggots and expander pellets, but sometimes its worth limiting your options to help improve your technique. Took my son fishing to the excellent House pool at Springwater Lakes. Caught fish all morning with him, then mum picked him up which gave me an hour by myself. Simply some of the most unusual hybrids and goldfish mix you will ever catch. Great fun. Fished at 13m with banded 8mm hard pellet, feeding 4mm hard pellet with my new preston sprinkle pots. A really cold and windy day but still catching a few fish. Could only fish a short pole but presentation was tough and the tow was fairly strong.
