All RAF pilots are highly motivated professional's. The RAF would not entertain a showboating thrill seeker and the pilot would have been well aware that his crew were relying on him to get them back to to there families safely.

I used the 545B in high school back in the 1970's; even then it was a dinosaur. The one thing I will never forget is how much workmanship went into building these classic scopes. I also remember all the heat this thing gave off; you saw the size of the fan.

A good oscilloscope. I have one also that was fully restored. I replaced a lot of tube's and many of the 6DJ8's.

I was 9 and was there with my dad…. Saw it all happen…. Was one of the strangest and saddest things I’ve witnessed. I often have dreams of planes crashing, even to this day 😢

While in full sympathy for the loss of the flying crew, it is naturally fortunate that the plane did not crash into the crowd or anywhere near the crowd watching the flight.

Hey , you got any idea what's causing my circular saw to cut off after a few seconds being turned on ? I guess it's either the trigger switch or motor ? Don't even get to put it into lumber it just cuts off and it's not the battery

Is it difficult to replace a vu meter bulb in that unit?

That maneuver requires a lot more altitude, especially for a big plane like that. When the engine stalls, the pilot doesn't have enough altitude to restart the engines. RIP to all the flight crew.

Watching the footage carefully the RAF's XV239 Nimrod's engine's cut out 0.54 seconds into the footage and kick back in @ 1.06 (note the lack of smoke and engine noise) If I had to guess I'd say catastrophic electrical or mechanical failure brought this aircraft down. A very sad loss of what would have been a very experienced team of professionals. RIP.

For Tektronix scope's I use the manuals at this site. w140.com/tekwiki/wiki/Main_Page#tab=Tube_Scopes I am not sure if there is something similar for "telequipment scopes", the generic descriptions in the Tektronix manuals may help? Hi mate. Do you have any advice on where to look to learn how these old valve sweep circuits work? Maybe videos or books possibly? I have two old telequipment scopes. A D43R dual channel scope, and a serviscope S32. I don't know what it is, but the timebase circuits on the vintage Telequipment scopes are prone to failure. I originally got them both going a year ago, by replacing old diodes and caps and a shorted zener...and they happily worked until now. Both AGAIN no horizontal sweep. I'm on the S32 at the moment. I've tested tubes, checked capacitors esr etc, checked soldering, tracks, switches, pots, measured resistors, yet not found anything that seems faulty...however I honestly don't know how the circuit is supposed to work! Any advice would be great. Thanks.

Hmmm mine is diesel.. assuming I have a few filters to replace... Damnit :P These mules are fking work horses... 4000 hours on the one I have and other than the filters needing changed it runs fine. I'm wondering if it has internal and external filters now. I need a damn book!

Yet another vid of a pilot trying to turn too slow and stalling the inside wing. PS- all 7 on board were killed; I'd have thought 3 would have been enough to fly it, namely pilot/copilot and flight engineer?

I just got a used 2017 Mule 4010 Trans 4X4. This video was super helpful, the fuel filter I pulled out was seriously clogged! I can't believe it even started! Running silky smooth now, thanks!

Don I have been meaning to contact you. I have the same amp but the 1000 version and would like to have it fixed. The left vu light is out and I find the left channel is not as strong as the right. Is there anyway I can contact you and if possible mail the amp to you so you can repair?

I remember this. No idea what a "Nimrod" was. Old Anti-submarine and maritime patrol aircraft from the British that we used a while back. Man this was a terrible day.

Fascinating to see your material. My 4X great grandparents were Sarah Clover and Robert Lee. Robert 1758 was a miller in Brent Eleigh , and Sarah (father John) was born c 1766. Their first born Robert 1786 was born in Nedging and I'm sure there is a connection to your branches of the Clovers.

The 'proper' way to clean this beast is to remove all the tubes except the CRT and run it though a dishwasher, and then an oven at 150 for 1/2 a day. Blowing it out supposedly t just embeds dirt deeper into the system. Have yet to try either myself but maybe someday with the 545A I have on my todo project pile.

One would think that there would be a way to keep dust out of the motor. Maybe go around it once with silkspan so the open vent holes can still breathe? Silkspan used to be used to cover model airplane wings and is very similar to that stuff that's usually stapled to the underside of furniture and is usually black. I might try this when my motor comes in. Maybe some kind of seal over the bottom end would help keep out dust too. I dunno but it's sure not a good design for long life the way it is. What would be the best grease to use on the bushing ends of the motor anyone know? I suppose a cleaning schedule wouldn't hurt either. I guess you could get two of these and make a miniature steam engine out of the reciprocating mechanism by the looks of it.
