First cut of the spring 2020 with my brand new Bad Boy MZ Magnum 54" zero-turn mower and it breaks down on me.
If I ever get rich I am gonna buy a house off river in leaky
beautiful as always!
Big Bend National Park is the awesome place.
You missed out on ,Cattail Falls, and the Lost Mine Trail the most popular one in the park. Awesome Vlog
thanks for the video !
U need a tractor and a brush cutter not a lawn mower
You need a bush hog and tractor.
Excellent canoe setup. Awesome video and info. As always enjoy the river.
We are going to leakey in 4 days! So excited!
ATV rental name again? great vid my friend, be there may 22
Adventure Time Rentals
Great content awesome video
this is incredible!!
The title should have been "I broke my bad boy mower on day 1 ... my fault". The mower didn't just brake. You broke it. Bad representation for the brand. Click bait
Size is the trailer ??
The trailer is a 5X9. It's a little snug on the sides but it fits the mower. I'm definitely thinking of getting a larger trailer to have more wiggle room when loading and unloading.
Is that a 60" wide trailer you are hauling your mower on. I want the 54" but my trailer is only 60" wide and don't want it to be a hassle to haul when needed. Thanks in advamce for a reply if you see this.
What was the weather like in July ?
Hot...in the high 80's F to low 90's F during the day but at night it was very nice.
That was a terrible idea to take the bottom dollar bad boy zero turn and try to mow nothing but thick sticks and bushes with it. We can tell you have never used one because if you were to use that you should have cleaned where you were going to mow first and then not let it hit any bushes.
My mom and her siblings lived there for while in the mid 1920's.
I grew up I Leakey! I used to swim in the Frio everyday. Back in the 90s, there was no one there 90% percent of the time. It was nice and quiet. I miss it every day
What’s there make of the place y’all stayed
Great river views 😃
Great job David! Thanks for sharing. Elephant Head Rock from a different perspective is awesome.
Not a brushog lol
No way you should have hit that with the mower. That is one of the heaviest duty mowers out there, but its for grass, not sticks.
The Texas Hill Country!!! Nothing like it in the world!!!
need more info on this?
So did you show this bush hogging with a residential zt video to TS??....probably not! 🙄🤦♂️
It's a mower not a bush hog.....
That is stupid 😒 he should use a bushog
Yuppie
Dang, in lookin at what your gonna mow I’d say a bush hog might be the way to go, not a zero turn, but in looking at some of the comments I’m guessing some of these guys probably hammer with a screwdriver and wonder why it breaks, I’m looking at this mower for purchase to mow my 4 acres, I have a tractor for Bush hogging,
Yep, I agree. I do get it bush hogged every once in a while. I learned the hard way to keep it mowed down more often.
Where exactly in Leakey is that area at 0:36? Going to frio river in may and would like to visit
Hi! Its called Happy Hollow Frio River Outfitters. The downside is that you need to either be a hotel guest to access that spot or you have to drift down the river to access it. They have some people guarding access to walk down from the parking lot checking if you are a guest. The river drift is about 2 hours and that spot is where you take out and it happens to be the only spot where you can cliff jump like that.
@@davegarc72 Why is it so hard to access so many rivers in Texas? I was near Gruene before on some road and couldn't park or access it anywhere. Evth was just private even though it's a public river.
Stop mowing Forests and stuff won’t brake 😂
Agreed!
Love the drone footage! I'm doing ponca-pruitt one night float in few weeks.. great footage!
You should do a burn
Clean up all those sticks and build a fire for a cook out.
That is so cool. I was just talking to a friend about doing a kayak/camping trip. He said Rush would be a good spot to put in at. We live here and he really knows the rivers.
Badass Jeep!
Hell it's a lawnmower not a Bush hog
I agree, he seems surprised his residential lawn mower can’t clear a overgrown woodlot
man screw these folks, that mower can cut grass waist high and be fine. These folks must have golf turf in their yards lol But in the real world we do nt have perfectly leveled property.
on a side note, Tractor Supply's warranty is second to none. I bought a Cub Cadet riding mower from them with warranty it lasted 4 mows and blew a head gasket, they swapped my 1900. cub for a ad Boy 54in Magnum at an even swap, you can't get better customer service than they supply.
It's not that I'm concerned about the height of the grass... Homeboy has 3" dia branches, high rocks, ect... It's a great mower... but its not a wood chipper lol. The area needs to be cleared before you try to mow like that. If you wanna abuse the crap out of it you need a Brush hog and a tractor.
Yea, but he ain't mowing grass. He's mowing sticks. 1:15 Do you see any grass?
Ive owned a Magnum for a few years now myself. A couple months in I broke that same brake line by pulling the handle up too hard. The brake lever comes into contact with a "button" under the panel somewhere, if you press that button and hold it while starting the engine, then it should fire right up and you can then release the button. I wound up having to replace the entire brake cable/lever assembly. The replacement part was ~$35 and was easy enough to replace, but just enough of a pain that I'm more careful when pulling the brake lever. I wouldn't let others shame you for mowing what/where you did. While it may not be a nice flat grassy yard, your magnum CAN and WILL mow it with ease so long as you use common sense about what you are mowing. I've mowed pasture grass with mine that was a foot tall in some places and it cut it just as good as yard grass.
@anonymous They are not junk by any means. And working on them is really easy because of the way they are built. The only reason the brake cable broke was because I pulled it up too hard.
@anonymous Flat ground and no hills, then I would say a Magnum.
@anonymous I hope it all works out for you. I know mine has been good to me so far.
Reading thru the comments, I'm glad to see you realize your usage would be classified as "above and beyond" the design intent of that machine. Still, I'll bet we've all asked our mowers to go "above and beyond" when we're too lazy to get off our ass to pick up the sticks, or we've allowed the grass (and/or weeds/brush) to get too tall, or we're in a hurry, or.... Looks to me like a stick found an achilles heel of your machine - by getting to the brake cable and levering it up into the deck's drivebelt. Otherwise, seems the machine performed admirably given the severe usage.
Well that was idiotic
If you think that is the right mower for doing that job your wrong. I I ran bad boy and saw your video .I would void your warranty. That's not a lawn. Shame on you
I do get your point. I should of never let it get that thick and I should plant grass to control the other brush type growth. It's a weekend property and I need to make more effort to maintain it.
He should really change the title. This was a case of a grass mower being used as a brush cutter. The mower didn't really break down, it was user error. I hope this doesn't discourage anyone from buying a Bad Boy brand mower.
Thanks for the feebback. Not trying to discourage a purchase. I am trying to keep the brush low from now on so that grass can take hold so that I don't make a rookie mistake like this again.
@@davegarc72 I think it's a great video about using a mower properly. I think we all cut down a little brush every now and then with our big residential mowers, I know I have. But if it breaks, I know that I shouldn't have been doing that, but I'll tell you... it's SO hard not to test the limits of our machines! From seeing what you did, it is a bit surprising that the brake line broke. I think that was probably a fluke. The usual damage to a mower from this would be either a bent blade (or 2) or a burned up belt from having something jammed under the blade preventing it from turning. Also, I don't know anything about that mower... it has brakes? I have an RZT, but I'm pretty sure the transmission acts as the brake.
Tractor Supply is a good company. I had a new 5 ft CountyLine mower that developed stress cracks under the gear box during the warranty. They replaced it with a new one.
Did you have their service plan added reason they swapped for a new one?
I was told that I should make sure that I update my warranty info so that the serial numbers match up. I purchased a two year warranty. Tractor Supply did not ask to see paper work or anything. I just unloaded the broke one and then loaded up the new one with the help of one of their employees.
All I'm saying is that you should use a brush mower . Not a lawn mower for that property. A lawn mower is for grass . Not brush sticks dirt Roch stumps. If you keep mowing it with your bad boy .you will keep breaking parts. But I would love to have that property.it looks likes a fine place to spend time
