For this run sadly i made some concessions. I use the Peekaboo badge to show enemy HP. I load a savestate once during the Shadow Queen part 2 fight. And I give myself 5 HP in the bonetail fight and remove 5 FP. I also save between Grodus and Bowser, and shadow queen parts 1 and 2. I believe that's all though.
Hooktail 0:34 - 4ATK, 4DEF. dunno how i can damage her but i do. Some special moves look funny when you use them after leaving the stage. Namely sweet treat (the treats spawn much higher up), Earth Tremor (The quaking still happens on stage), Power lift (the board is tiny), and Art attack (hooktails art attack hitbox is bigger than the screen)
Shadow Sisters 6:45 - Just beginning my run. Realizing Super guards are really hard. Earth Tremor is cool.
Magnus 8:08 - Its possible to trap yourself by saving just before this fight with no coins, all your partners dead, and all nearby enemies dead. I tried to recreate these conditions to prove that escaping this situation is possible.
When you reload the save. the bomb timer always resets to 100 seconds.
In the remake, your partners will always have at least 1HP outside of battle. So this isn't necessarily a problem. But also in the remake, you get MUCH less extra star power for having both you and your partner at 1HP. Meaning this challenge might be impossibly difficult in the remake, as I rely on star power heavily here. to be exact, you can get 28 star power units in one attack if you're in peril, have a full toad audience, and just earned a shine BINGO. In the remake, you can get up to 3.
Grubba 11:09 - Easiest fight. I thought i'd breeze through this game thanks to clockout... i was wrong. You can trap yourself by saving just before Grubba too, but theres a bed nearby that gives you a full heal.
Worth noting that clockout usually has a 30% chance to work on bosses. for grubba its 40%.
Atomic Boo 14:56 - Gale force has a 10% chance of immediately killing him.
Doopliss 16:27 - I didn't realize he turned into mario during this fight. i got his HP to 0 before he transformed and sped the game up and died
Doopliss 2 17:43 - easy. dumb ghost.
Cortez 18:56 - I think i could've done this easier if i started with more health. but i didn't. Clockout isn't that reliable because cortez loses status effects between phases. He also only has one giant art attack hitbox.
Crump 2 22:30 - You can save/get trapped just before this fight, but you can also access the whole island still, and the enemies respawn if you kill them and run far enough away. There's also an inn you can pay coins to heal with.
Smorg 25:01 - One of the last fights i did. He's immune to clockout and hits you 3 times the moment his arms revive (or 1 time with his pincer if he's damaged enough). I was planning to maximize my damage here with art attack, but i completely forgot about his huge hitbox and instead had to superguard the pincer the very first time i saw it. Twice. I got lucky.
This is the last of the 4 fights you can save trap on. But you're forced to heal by sleeping before the fight. Since I didn't need much star power, this strategy is doable in the remake.
Magnus 2.0 28:57 - Oh thank god he doesnt do the audience attack until after he releases his arms.
Dark Bones 33:56 - not hard. You can stand on the left or right side of the room just before this fight and the dry bone hoard won't even be able to reach you.... Dark bones does throw 3 bones in one attack though, which killed me.
Gloomtail 35:15 - I beat him on my first real attempt. Not gonna question it. Happened to drop my super boots and had to re-equip them mid-fight (silly me) 36:00
Shadow sisters 2 39:16 - tough but i did it
Grodus 40:42 - Tougher. I think this is the first guy i ever fought. I didn't do very well that time. Apparently this guy is level 87, the highest in the game (so if youre level 0 he gives 87/2 = 43 EXP). Gale force works on the Little guys but it costs too much FP. I wonder if i could've gotten this far with 0 FP
Bowser & Kammy 45:16 - Saving just before the fight. I'm sorry. Showstopper has a 5% chance against these guys, using it, not sorry.
Shadow Queen 1 49:12 - Her lightning attack is scary.
Shadow Queen 2 51:05 - I had to savestate once (i actually screwed up and loaded 3 times when i didnt have to) at 52:34 to beat this. I spent days thinking of a way to beat her, and this is the best method i could gather. Using 3 Clockouts and no superguards. though i screwed up and didnt get enough SP towards the end. so i had to improvise
Bonetail 56:43 - I swapped my 5FP for 5 Extra HP. It did not make this fight easy. Just possible. I was about to give up for the night when i did this attempt. I was very proud.
