I like to mainly travel in Business or First Class and usually stay in luxury hotels. I like to explore all different cultures and parts of the world and showcase these experiences for you, my viewers!

Air France - Boeing 777 - Paris (CDG) 🛩 Bangkok (BKK) - Economy
Airline: Air France
Flight No: AF196
Departure Date: 6 December 2024
Departure Time: 14:35
From: Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport (CDG)
To: Bangkok Suvarnabhumi International Airport (BKK)
Aircraft: Boeing 777-200 (B777)
Cabin Class: Economy
Seat No: 47A
My journey began from London Heathrow Terminal 4 on 5 December 2024. However, my flight was delayed and instead of departing at 11:30, we departed around 2pm and arrived at CDG (Paris) around 4pm. Unfortunately, my connecting flight was due to depart at 15:35 and left on time. I was not aware at the time that Air France only had 2 direct flights leaving Paris to Bangkok per day and as I had missed the last available flight Air France rebooked me on to the next available direct flight which left the next day (details above) at 14:35. Air France provided overnight accommodation at a low-end hotel called Moxy which is part of the Marriott Hotels group and provided a kit which contained a toothbrush, toothpaste, a plain white t-shirt and a few other items as well as breakfast and dinner. The dinner was a microwave meal, snack and drink (non-alcoholic). The room was 17 suare metres including a small bathroom.
The flight was full! The economy layout is mostly 3-4-3, except the last 4 rows which were 2-4-2. I was fortunate to be seated in 47A (2-4-2 section) with a window seat. I had a lovely neighbour too! I was greeted by the economy cabin purser who was very friendly and chatty. Waiting at the seat was a pillow, blanket and headphones. (I recommend watching the next video where I fly Premium Economy too as there is a lot to discuss!).
The service from the purser was excellent as you would imagine, but the rest of the crew seemed a little subdued.
The entertainment screen (IFE) was a touch screen and also dated, which meant the picture quality wasn’t crisp and at times the touch screen was a little unresponsive. I also feltthat there could be more options. The fonts were also very small and many visually impaired passengers would struggle.
Another aspect I found disappointing was the food and beverage! France is know for its gourmet cuisine and taste! However, the meals served were very average and typical of the norm across many airlines’ economy class cabins. I thought Air France could have used this to differentiate themselves in this area! I felt the alcoholic area of the beverage section was limited. The served beer and wine, and impressively, champagne! However, when I asked for some spirits, I was told that there are no spirits. This was not completely correct as when I flew Premium Economy, I discovered that they did have small bottles of Cogniac which would have been fine!
Overall, the Paris to Bangkok route was pleasant enough. However, I would not risk flying from London or any other connecting city in the future as I do not want to wait until the next day to continue my journey.

Great review, booking for August 2025. Quick question, What is best money to bring, Euros, dirams or GBP. Or is it ok to use card? Also any vaccinations required?
@@hedleym4287 Hi, I personally would take about £50/€50 worth of Direms (if you can) even if you have already arranged transport. Some countries give you better exchange rate for higher notes such as £50 note. For example, Thailand. But from memory, Morocco didn’t apply this policy, but if you can take £50 notes, then I would recommend that with one or two smaller denominations. In terms of using card, I only use card in places like hotels or reputable shops. I always use cash at small shops or small restaurants. When I visited, I didn’t take any vaccinations in particular. But you should check the government website. If you have any health conditions or concerns, or if you have travelled to a certain country beforehand, then you may need to take vaccinations. Also, I went just over two years ago and I’m not sure if the rules have changed since then so I do recommend checking the government website just in case they have introduced some new rules. I hope you enjoy your stay and have as much fun as we did😀

Love the views. Looks comfortable
@Explore.with.m8 😂 no not so comfortable! Very narrow seats and old screens
Thousands of pounds for a small bed in a noisy plane….
@@maxitosh8465 yes, I wouldn’t pay the cash equivalent, but even the mph a little high… but if you had to travel along distance like this, then there is no better way. This was truly one of the best beds I’ve had in the sky!
Happy new year buddy 👍🏻 welcome back! That 777-200 must be an old aircraft for the ife to be like that…seats look dated and as you say the food you thought would be better being as the French as known for there food……I couldn’t travel that far in economy to cramped infact I wouldn’t even fly Air France full stop. So you must be flying back premium economy which is slightly better and on the better of the 777 👍🏻 we’ve just got back from Singapore on a 777 312er beautiful aircraft service was first class the cabin crew as you know are just the best! I’m glad there updating there cabins on sia because the business seat although very nice it’s a bit dated and the footwell is always a problem….so hopefully you get to review that in due course. Enjoyed watching as always mate thanks for taking us and torturing yourself on Air France for us 😅 All the best buddy catch you on the next one 👍🏻 Ps I think the airlines only put there best aircraft on the most profitable routes…..occasionally you might get lucky and have a new aircraft but in my experience we’ve always had older aircraft.
@@Neil-clare hello andvery happy New Year to you too. Very nice to hear from you.. yes, unfortunately, Air, France is very underwhelming in many aspects. And spoiler alert. It’s really not worth paying the extra for premium economy either.. I may still give business ago, but I’m not sure yet. Yes everyone, including myself loves Singapore Airlines! i’m already creating a pot of M miles for flying Singapore airlines but I also want to try Priyen economy so he won’t be very long until you see those videos! hope you have a great New Year and I hope this year brings you good health, peace and prosperity 🙏😀
@ thank you very much! Oh dear not much about premium economy either….i would leave business for another time….im sure there not a bad airline on par with BA I’d say. rack up them miles with sia like we are we have around 130,500 each but you need a lot to get anything out of them with sia we are travelling to Singapore in July (transit) to Australia so that’s a few more points……after that hoping to upgrade to a suite in the not so long distant future. Always look forward to your flight videos we watch on the big tv so not to miss anything it’s always a pleasure to watch someone with a real sense of fun and adventure….we know your 99% blind which makes your videos a real pleasure to watch from someone else’s point of you and how your treated……Im glad this doesn’t hold you back you go at it and straight to the point 🙌🏻 we only have a few favorite TH-camrs and your one of them so keep up the great work you do we look forward to your forthcoming videos 🙌🏻 wishing you all the best buddy 🙏🏼

What is your favourite destination? Would you be interested in seeing any videos of historical value? Documentary style. I'm just curious as I'm trying to think about making some other videos also which are travel related.
@ that is a shame about your sight I can’t imagine the struggle you and others go through not being able to see very well…..but who would know you do a great job as good as other flight reviewers if not better 👍🏻 yes always interested in anything travel related a documentary would be good 👍🏻 my favourite place is australia 2nd is Singapore we just love Singapore we love the history the people the food just the whole vibe of the place! But australia just takes first spot for its shere natural beauty the scenery is biblical hence our trip to oz in July to the Northern Territory and Western Australia.
@ oh wow! I spent one month in Australia back in 2012 and I am due another trip for sure. It is absolutely stunning and I had booked a second trip but the pandemic arrived and caused chaos. I had also booked the Northern Territory as I wanted to show my parents wildlife in its natural environment. Especially the crocodiles. Saltees! Also, I've only been Singapore once and I concentrated on filming the hotels so I need to make many more visits so that I can really get to know the place better. But I had a fantastic time and the people were fantastic. Right now, I am in India and I have been blown away by the hospitality at Sofitel Mumbai. Yesterday the front desk presented my parents with a bouquet of flowers. I I have just joined this hotel group so I have no status but they are treating us so well that I had to ask them what on earth did we do to deserve such loving hospitality. They really are amazing and I hope you watch the video when it's released
@loveflyingandhotels Would you recommend staying at Madi Paidi over Athenee?
@@reethikasingh8117 yes and no, it really depends on a few things Madi Padi is in Thong Lor and this location is not for everyone. It is a young trendy area and can be quite expensive. There is no executive lounge either, but the hotel is small and the service is very personal and very boutique like The swimming pool is very small Athenee has a fantastic pool and Jim, great executive lounge, and nice rooms. Service is also excellent. But the location is a tiny bit tucked away, which means a slightly longer walk to the main Sukhumvit Rd. Athenee it's also generally more expensive Personally, I would stay at Athenee. Madi Padi is really nice but I'm not too keen on that area and the swimming pool and all is very small. Plus no lounge. I hope that helps 🙏
@ Thanks for the prompt response. I don’t particularly mind either location as both are fairly close to the BTS. I am only Gold elite on Marriott Bonvoy, so am not expecting room upgrades/lounge access at either facility. I wanted to know which hotel you think is more comfortable in terms of the room, bathroom, overall comfort and soundproofing.
@@reethikasingh8117 i see. Well Athenee we have a slightly larger room. The bathroom is also very nice. At Madi I only stayed in their sweet room which was very nice and beautiful bathroom with rain shower. I am not 100% sure on the regular room. The other thing I would say is that the breakfast at. Athenee in the main restaurant is far superior. So I still go with. Athenee. However, you have more chance of being upgraded at.Madi Padi depending on when you are visiting. But I don't think you are very concerned with that. I am sticking with. Athenee.

Let me share my experience staying there in 2024.Stayed there for 5 days. They are pretty far from Bangkok city. Staying in W gives you a budget hotel experience, not a five star. There is no coffee machine in the room..Hairdryer, i had to ask for.Dimly lit bathroom and mirror, doing a good makeup is unimaginable there.I can give 5 star to the opulence of their reception lobby and all the stars end there. The restaurant serve underwhelming poor quality meat for their steak. Anyone can stay better in a good airbnb in Bangkok city. We made the mistake so you dont have to.
@@priyajoby2605 Oh no, i'm sorry to hear that. I am not a fan of the location either. I am yet to find a hotel better than Sheraton Grande Sukhumvit! Another great video! when’s the next flight video ? I’m off to Singapore on Thursday morning will be in business class on a 777-312er was going to do a video but nervous about filming….did you ask the cabin crew if filming was ok ? Have a great xmas and a great new year all the very best buddy 🤗
@@Neil-clare Hi and thank you for the nice comment! Which airline are you flying? Business class is usually always fantastic, so I'm sure you will enjoy it. I never ask in advance about filming nor do I ask on board but if there is a particular cabin crewmember who is exceptional then I ask them if they don't mind if I film them and perhaps include them in a video. I always explain that if you do want to stay anonymous then I will blur out your picture. I am always nervous about filming but I try to film in such a way that I'm not capturing faces. Did you like the W in Bangkok better or le meridian?
@@cl3658 so I liked Le Meridien because it had a nice swimming pool, fairly decent gym and club lounge and of course I had a great suite. Although I didn't get any upgrade at W, I felt that it had a better vibe. If I had to revisit it, I would probably still stick to La Meridian..
@ ok that makes me feel better because I was leaning towards le meridian too. I have free marriot nights to use up and I was looking between W, le meridian, athenee, and jw marriot and I saw your comments saying athenee was amazing but athenee and jw seem so far whereas the majority of the things we are doing are close to the Chao praya river. What are your thoughts?
@@cl3658 that's a tough one! Athenee has to be number one and I would say joint second place would be JW and LM. If you are titanium or above, then you can enjoy the breakfast at the Main restaurant at JW, which is really good. But LM will give you laundry and less busy. Athene and JW lounge is number one followed by LM Athenee swimming pool is number one and joint second places JW and LM But Athenee it's usually more expensive so overall LM is good choice But in terms of location, I don't often stay close to the river The best for that would be Sheraton orchid, but I wasn't very keen on this hotel as it seemed very old And I wasn't very keen on the location as there was nothing much to do in the immediate vicinity But which ever you choose getting around in terms of transport is not really an issue and if you do choose the cheaper hotel, then paying for the transport would still work out cheaper than booking one of the top end hotels I'm not quite sure if I've actually helped you here. I might have just added to the confusion but it might sound like LM is the choice. I haven't stayed at JW for awhile now, but I understand that they have introduced some live music. Since I stayed. I'm not sure on the schedule, but I know one of the musicians who was performing on Saturday or Sunday but this again was around 10 or 11 months ago and I'm not sure if she still continues or whether JW has still continued at
@@loveflyingandhotels I am only silver unfortunately 😑 but when I look on Google maps it looks like Athenee is so far from the river so BTS may take a long time compared to LM. I still have some time to decide but I will look into athenee more. Thanks for your advice! Very helpful
@ oh that's great! Yes, I've only been to the river once by BTS and MRT and boat. Good luck and hope you enjoy your stay whichever hotel you choose.🙏
Great detailed video! You mentioned the Elite $10 discount for breakfast at Beach Road Kitchen. Is there also a discount for Dinner?
Hi great video. How was the food and customer service from one to ten? Did you check any baggage in?
@@duaneowens7777 hello and thank you for your nice comment and questions. Yes, I checked one suitcase in and took one backpack on board. I would say the food was about seven or 8 out of 10 it was a good selection of fruit and the chickpea salad was delicious but the main course could've been a bit more interesting. I felt it was a little boring just rice and tofu. I would have rated the service 10 out of 10, but I have to give it 9 out of 10 . Overall, it was amazing with the exception of long delays between ordering drinks. Sometimes if I can't sleep, I order a few drinks and they were serving a decent cognac, but there were long delays between ordering the next drink. To try and avoid the delays, I asked if I can have either a stronger shot or multiple classes at once, but they rejected my request. Other than this, the service was very very good. I hope this helps ! Safe travels

If you are okay with giving me a bit more detail, I would like to ask: 1) Are you a Platinum, Titanium or Ambassador Elite member with Marriott Bonvoy? 2) Did you book a club lounge level room or a standard room? 3) How many guests will be staying in the same room? 4) How old is your son?
We will be flying EVA next year in economy. Is the seat's leg room sufficient for my 6'2" husband?
Hi! I think so! EVA Air is not the most generous when it comes to leg room, as shown on my video, but if you look at alternatives, there are not many options. EVA offers a direct flight from London and offers far better service than most airlines so it is a difficult choice to make. I would suggest trying this airline once and if possible snag the front rows. From London, the alternatives are Thai Airways and British Airways, both of which are less superior products. If you are flexible and are open to indirect flights, then you may have an alternative option.
Nice! I will be doing this flight from Frankfurt to Singapore on New Years Eve with a friend. I guess a 12 hours New Year celebration with champagne is not a bad thing…. 😊
Oh fantastic! I wonder if SIA will do something extra as it is NYE? It will be very special regardless! Enjoy!!!😀
I stayed here in Apr 2016 it was a beautiful hotel back then with amazing views
Yes, and we loved it here very much! Probably one of the best hotels we stayed in Miami and USA! 😀
If you need assistance on a future flight. I do EVA every now and then. Love your videos. X.
I love your hotel reviews bc you are vegan and I trust your insight on food
Hi there and thank you! Actually, I was vegan for 8 years but recently I have turned to being vegetarian. But, being vegan for 8 years means I know how difficult it can be at times with sometimes limited choices or unfair representation. So, I am still including the vegan side in my videos so as many viewers are vegan and so will appreciate the heads up on vegan choices and so on. I hope you will still watch my videos - I wanted to be honest and upfront :) I hope that I can still provide useful and informative videos that you will enjoy 😀
@@loveflyingandhotelsoh really? I’ve been vegan for 9! Never going back, it is really refreshing when ytbers are plant based and I can take note. And true, being vegan is not convenient sometimes, good thing is that our person principles and beliefs are untouched, even if sometimes we have to have bad breakfasts 😂best of luck in your travels!
@@frufrutas3025 Haha! True! The Ex-F&B director at my favourite and regular hotel was vegan and he used to say that now I am vegetarian we are no longer friends! lol! Nice guy but sadly he has had to go back to Australia. Thank you and you too!
Great information 🙏 did you manage to find out about password for Wi-Fi 🙏 please share if you have
Hi thank you! Unfortunately not, BUT, I had this problem on a few flights with a few different airlines and I realise now that it was because I had not disconnected my VPN. Even though the VPN is not connected (as no WIFI or internet) you still need to go into the VPN and disconnect all connections and then load the WIFI. I tried this on all flights since discovering this and am now able to connect. I haven't flown with EVA since discovering this but I am sure there won't be any problems. Do you use a VPN? If not, you should be fine unless there is a problem with the WIFI that affects all passengers. I hope this helps! Safe travels! 😀
@@loveflyingandhotels no i don’t use VPN but we ill get 30 minutes free wi-fi on Eva then my sleep 😀 or buy more.. anyway thank you very much 🙏
@@GzimKrasniqi-z5u Ah, no VPN then you should be fine! Enjoy your flight and safe travels!😀
I prefer earbuds after experience Qatar's loose on ear headphones with poor quality.
@@cynthiamon5166 fair enough, I guess sometimes you could end up with an older pair. Unfortunately, but in a year headphones always falls out of my ear which is why I prefer over ear headphones. 😀
Thanks
@@smelbo8 Thank you very much, you are my first ever super chat! This is so so kind and thank you for watching and being part of the community. 😀
Love your q suites videos best I seen. I'm flying next february in q suites and very helpful. Manchester to Bangkok 😅
@@smelbo8 i hope you have an enjoyable flight - the more I fly them the more I appreciate them and really enjoy my journeys. 😀. Enjoy BKK I will be flying in Feb too but on ‘Etihad business (first time) so will be a nice comparison. I do plan to make a trip report for this too. Thank you for the super hat, I will enjoy a couple of beers in BKK 🙏❤️
I'm going to sum up the video with his own words... "EVA is a excellent airlines, no matter what class you fly"
I love that! That is fantastic!
There looked to be good leg room for you - what height are you please? Asking as my husband is 5'10"
@@BertieB-Jayne Hi’. Firstly, thank you for watching the video and secondly thank you for your question.. I am 5ft 9”. 😀
I stayed in this hotel before covied .The problem with old hotels is the ac systems flows a lot of dust you can see the dust settle on the cabinets as soon as you enter the room though they serviced my room ac throughly after multiple complaints then it was f9
Yes! But the AC itself is also so old that how does one sleep? I couldn't get a wink! Soi 18 is far better!
I have flown with EVA air before and think they are better than Thai Airways. I'm flying with them with EVA air now.
Agree! And, I've sat next to a few Thai locals who also say the same! Enjoy your flight! Lucky one!
Interesting video
Hi are there any delay flying with Eva to BBK
Hi, there are delays sometimes, mainly due to 2 reasons: 1) LHR being so busy and the aircraft arriving on time from BKK. It normally lands around 19:00-19:30 and the flight departing from LHR to BKK is at 21:35 - so not much time for turnaround. 2) The whether - when it is raining heavily, snow or severe fog, the flight might be a little delayed. But usually, the delay in departure is not more than 30 minutes, occasionally an hour but is generally made up in the air!
Super review and fair. I love that you tried and reviewed vegetarian food, which is rare. Agreed, particularly for KL, that is expensive for a relatively simple dishes with few expensive ingredients. Did they have vegetarian afternoon tea?
Hi and thank you for your comment and question! ♥ So from my memory, they didn't have it listed as an option but I do remember asking the same question and they said that they can arrange it by vegetarian substitutions. Are you a fan of vegetarian afternoon tea? If so, I will make enquiries on future videos and try and provide more detail for next time! 😃
@@loveflyingandhotels I definitely am! The best I had was at Capella Bangkok, they made me 3 special items. And that was so much I had to have takeaway box. Some places just give a cucumber sandwich and a large empty gap on the stand were the more exciting nonveg items are arranged!
@@Leo_nora_1 I will try and get more info on future hotel stays. Are you vegetarian or vegan?
Just vegetarian 😊 thank you!
Solid overview of the property! I'm planning a trip for my wife and I and have narrowed it down to this W and the Singapore Edition. I was originally thinking we would book two solid days in Singapore with travel days on the flanks (from BKK and to HKT). We'd then spend a few nights at one of the Khao Lak resorts. But now I'm going to propose if we stayed at the W, we could eliminate that extra travel time and add a couple of days onto the Singapore portion and if we stayed at the W, it wouldn't be as quiet as Khao Lak, but also not as remote as that region is. You're really bound to your resort or driving distances for excursions. Years ago we stayed at the Library on Koh Samui and liked the vibe there and the ability to just walk into town and explore.
@@SaltWaterSound Thank you! My stay at the W was excellent but I will mention that the hotel (bar) is not always very lively and I went in peak season. But if you are okay with that, or prefer it not to be too busy/lively, then this is an excellent choice! I also wanted to stay at Singapore Edition but didn’t get a chance. I will do hopefully within the next 12-24 months😀 I know Khao Lake is limited as is Mai Khao but nice for just chilling and enjoying good quality resorts😀 I hope you enjoy your trip! All the best 😀
Been here twice now! Love it
