Any worry about water getting in the open ports ? Puddles/ rain? I have a flex so its a little lower to the ground. Ill pill the trigger if its a non issue this is exactly how i want mine to sound
Thank you very much my dad and I couldnt figure it out
Its more complex then it should be.
They make a pliers for that clamp in the rear
yep, but it cost money and when you need it, you dont have it, once you done with a job, you think you will never need it/donit again....lol
@@blackgenesis7472 lol yeah, I got it from Amazon for about 14 bucks at the same time I ordered the lag caps and filters for the valve. Took me about 20 minutes to install both sets of filters and caps. Definitely love the sound and it does make a difference to do both
Your odometer dont work?? Nice sound
I like your instruction and your humor. Thanks.
my boy you put them hazards on a little to quick 😂
You claim it while ahead :)
@@blackgenesis7472 you let off right before he put a bus on you 😭
Does anyone know if there's a way to make these locking, possibly with an additional piece that slides into the roof rails?
Cross tail has one bolt on each side to lock in place. Why do you need more?
@@blackgenesis7472 From what I'm seeing it looks possible for anyone with a toolkit in their car to remove the bars completely, no? I live in city with VERY highly motivated thieves.
Great video, helped me a lot - thank you. Worth noting, if you have a moon/sun roof, according to Ford, the load capacity of the roof rails is significantly reduced. IIRC, down from 150lbs to something like 75lbs.
I have climed on top of roof rails ..... could handle 140lb.
I bought a blow off valve adapter for my 2019 twin turbo explorer I love that phssssss sound that it makes...very dope 🔥
What exhaust are you running on the Genesis?
Ark exhaust, Ebay headers
it was Ukrainian missile dumass
How does this actually affect performance and fuel economy in everyday driving?
It does not make any affect on performance or fuel economy. Manufactures vent back into intake pipe to reduce noise and prevent possibly of any oil fumes to get in to atmosphe. Oil fuels - if turbo is leaking oil
@@blackgenesis7472 thanks! I'm gonna give it a try
For any others wondering . I did it in my explorer 3.5 ecoboost temporarily. Doing the front was more subtle, you just about had to floor it to hear it. With both done it was a little obnoxious even being tuned on 93 octane the turbo sound is almost non existent so you just hear the" sneeze. "
Great video. New subscriber here man!
Did you have to tighten the adjustable screws? I noticed if you pick up on the crossbars on the one side they will shift.
No you should not need to tighten small screws that hold cross bar to the plastic brakets (unless you see that screws in yours are loose)
BTW I have a 2017 Ford Explorer and this installation video will not work. Our setup is different on the rack (we have no space gap for instance between the factory rack and the car top).
Thanks for the heads up here Paul! Did you find a roof rack for your 2017, I also have a 2017 and need a roof rack.
You running e85 in this race?
No, 91 octane tune in this race. 3.9 rear gear. Mustand messed up in this race, other short video - both were at their top game.
@@blackgenesis7472 ohh ok, I’m a 3.8 as well almost fbo. Only thing missing is stage 3 intake and pulleys. Tuned on 91 as well and will be racing a stock 15 5.0 next week. Wanted to see my chances😬 I’m a manual as well with no gear upgrade.
What kit are you running? And tune?
Details are in description . Both genesis are naturally aspirated (no nitrous or turbo) with poterd intakes manifolds, headers, intake and Alphaspeed tunes. 3point8performance has majority of parts you need for 3.8 aftermarket. They also port and stuff turbos for 2.0.
Any issues with check engine lights? What are the long term issues with allowing it to vent this way?
No, 13 and up EcoBoost engine are equipped with MAP sensors (not metered air like before) so it does not care if you do not recirculate air.
@@blackgenesis7472 really? i just bought a sho 2013 and was thinking of doing this
@@blackgenesis7472 so will a 2010 throw a code?
Nice race bro
This was very helpful! I have a 2006 Explorer and added the bars successfully using your directions. One thing that I had to do was use needle nose pliers to lift the yellow "tree" in order to put the caps back on for the final step. Thanks!
ayy that's my car. wasn't FBO at the time. only headers/cai/open exhaust/e85. still stock engine mounts and unported manifolds. and i had a passenger
Doesn’t make up for the bus lengths
@@isaahreynoso9135 mine was the gen :)
Why did the RS start in like 5th gear haha
No, just makes less power.
My friend has an RS putting 273whp. I have a 2015 3.8 auto with an ark dts exhaust and a injen intake. We raced from a 40 roll and he had me by half a car, but i was catching up. A car in my lane stopped the race. Would have had him though.
Did you have any issues with the sunroof with the crossbar over it? Is there enough clearance to open the sunroof?
Yes, there is plenty of clearance. They sit 2" above glass.
Damn did not expect the Genesis to move out like that! I want to e85 tune my 3.8 but I'm trying to wait until they have a flex fuel tune so I can switch back/forth.
Get second ECU and throw e85 tune on it.
@@blackgenesis7472 modern problems require modern solutions. lmao
@@blackgenesis7472 what all is involved in switching over to E85? Injectors, fuel lines, pump, tune? Or is it more simple than all that? Thanks.
Holy shit your gen must be a beast ! My 3.8 yet to be fbo no tune and nearly got beat by an tuned st those rs are quick though gen ftw>!!!
Who owns this page? This footage doesn’t belong to you
Vinny Brito heh, 2 of my videos up here also
good shit
Hello what exact afr gauge are you running ?
Innovate lc2, you can run a gaudge and datalog it to a computer.
Is that sti fbo e85? And also do the 3.9 dif have a huge hp difference?
Final drive / diff swap does not change engine power and dyno does not see torque multiplication from graring. By changing FD on GC from 3.5 to 3.9 you are looking at 10.5% increase in accelaration/ thrust torque / higher torque multiplication. It's more noticeable increase in accelaration as opposed to all boltons and tune combined in NA car that was geared conservative. STI was FBO and e85, now sure who tuned it or how good was was the tune.
Could you guys explain what you mean by 3.5 and 3.9
@@jobeta8847its the differential, differential swap
What’s your ig
Dont have one
insane
Damn those 3.8s we're all over that mustang like white on rice haha
Holy...shit. .Dusted his ass
Idk fam.. I know those 3.8s are fast but idk if it’s that fast to gap a 5.0 by like 3 cars off a roll fast.
Had to do with rpm/speed they started at. Gen high rpms and stang low rpms 2nd gear ar 40. Gen has 3.9 rear differential swaped in, which shortened gearing (higher torque multiplication, 10%), giving it advantage more so in lower gears. Gen hit it slightly befor Stang. See my other video, there's a repeat race of same cars, with gen 1/2 a car behind and mustang having 1st hit.
@@blackgenesis7472 I'll check it out but I swapped 4.10 gears in my 3.7 mustang and the only way I can beat a 5.0 is off a dig.. my gears completely ate up my ability to do roll races since I can rarely be in the right gear unless its a 40 roll
@@FerRod2113 What power at the wheels were you running when you had 4.1 rear? Gen with e85 is running 350whp.
Black Genesis I’ve never dynod it tbh but from my trap speed and weight of the car, it should be around 300-310whp, but I’ve raced cars with 50hp more than me and they don’t pull like that lol
Black Genesis but your car is pretty quick my guy, regardless, I love seeing a V6 compete with V8s, shows how it’s no longer the old days where V6s were for grandma cars. But I read your comment again and you are right, you have to be in the right gear and RPM lol I always get people trying to do a 20 roll and I’m like fuck, as soon as I punch it I have to shift and if I just go into second, my RPMs are way too low and by the time I get into the power band, whatever I’m racing is gone or I have to reel them in. I have a 6 speed tho, idk how many speed the Gen has
Nicee
What a great race! Who tuned the Genesis? Does it have the new intake riser from 3point8 performance? It adds huge power.
Yes it has intake riser. It adds close to 15whp, midrange. Tuned by AlphaSpeed.
Never seen a FBO Genesis 3.8 hang with a 2016 5.0. Is your car running E85? AlphaSpeed is making a name for themselves. Love to see a comparison with BTR, SFR, ASPD tunes.
@@4g63gen1 This is not my car. And compared to others, Alphaspeed can get little bit more out of the engine as oposed to other. More power under the curve, and safer tunes. This particular video mustang was 1/2 a car ahead and had a first hit (because Gen was pulling hard ahead in 2nd gear previous runs).
Check other race with them lined up even. th-cam.com/video/1UikjoDFNo4/w-d-xo.html
These 3.8 Genesis aftermarket on the rise
Where did you find gears?
10-16 3.8v6 manual comes with 3.5 rear differential. 13-16 3.8v6 and 2.0 auto comes with 4.1 rear differential 13-16 2.0 manual comes with 3.7 rear differential 10-12 auto comes with 3.9 diff. You swap rear differential (make sure it is LSD - usualy r spec, and track has them and other models dont) to shorten your gearing, achieving faster acceleration. Higher number will shorten gearing more.
Also 09-12 2.0 manual came with 3.9 rear gear - so 2.0 R spec is what you need to look for. There are a few on Ebay
Sounds like the car is sneezing
Great video! I have a 2018 Explorer XLT. So now I have an idea of what I'm getting into when I install them.
Thanks very much. This was a good video and good explanation for installing on my 2015 Explorer Sport. Fits perfectly.
This video is good until 2015. 2016 And up is a different rail.
Those side rails do not look like my 2016 explorer limited. What year is your car?
Raul Velasquez This explorer is 2014. 2016 and up uses slight diferent crossbars. Have put both part numbers in description (2012-2015 and 2016 and up)
I just installed OEM cross bars on my 2015 XLT and they seem loose to me. Is it normal for them to be able to slide forward and backward manually after being tightened down?
C Clark No, cross bar should not move forward /back in the chanel once tightened. Make shure you have installed hardware correctly (metal threaded square goes inside of the rail - see vid.). Also you need to really snug those plastic twist bolts. After getting them as tight as I could with my fingers, I used pliers to torque them down a bit more.
Black Genesis thank you I will double check everything
Where can I purchase that?
DJ Rumbero/ R&O Entertainment Next to video title, hit drop down arrow to see description. I have indicated 2 part numbers, use one that matches your year range - ebay, amazone or just on Google Shopping to see all seller pricing.
Thanks for posting. I will be adding one myself. I suspected it wasn't very hard. I'm glad I didn't just pay the dealership to install it. DO you know the load capacity? Do you think I can install 4 instead of 2? I just want to be able to spread the load. Last year, I carried about 300 pounds (on my previous Explorer). Now, after reading, I'm shocked my roof rack didn't snap.
Rafael S You can put in more cross bars if you want, it only would help with something that flexes - prevent item from bowing in the midle. Complete roof rack / side rails are rated to carry 100 lb total. I would not be comfortable exceeding 200lbs load on the roof highway speed. (Loads are very underated in US)
Looks like your old explorer had same rating. Side rails are stronger then cross bars. Cross bars will take about 100 lb load each (just puting wait on them). People carried loads close to 500 lb - evenly sped out, like plywood. So to carry something that is only on cross bars - more cross bars would make sense.
2016 and up Explorer uses very similar roof cross bars, but you do not have to slide them in from the back. They are much easier to attach, simply place them between roof side rails and screw cross bars in with provided 8 bolts (2 per each side).
Just so everyone knows, this is NOT the same type of side rails on the 2016 Ford Explorer. Ford designed a completely different style of side rail (no open gaps at the bottom of the side rails).
Mark Forster 2016 and up uses very similar roof cross bars, but you do not have to slide them in from the back. They are much easier to attach, simply place them between roof racks (side rails) and screw them in with provided 8 bolts (2 per each side).
Mark, You're correct. Will be putting OEM cross bars on tomorrow. Wish there was a gap on the side rails for more tie down options on my kayak!
