When the Nissan GT-R first came out in 2007, it disrupted the entire sports car market and reshaped the expectations for performance cars. For the small price of $70,000, you could get an impressive package that included a twin-turbocharged 3.8-liter V6 engine, producing 480 horsepower, coupled with one of the most advanced all-wheel-drive systems ever, which allowed the GT-R to hit 0 to 60 mph in just 3.2 seconds. At that time, there were no Ferraris, Lamborghinis, or Porsches that could match that acceleration, even though they were at least twice as expensive as the GTR.
But the GT-R was not just a one-trick pony; it offered a well-rounded performance experience. Despite its weight of around 1.7 tons, it handled incredibly well, the advanced all-wheel-drive system was designed to find grip in any condition, making high-speed cornering feel effortless. While driving the GT-R was undeniably fun, it provided a different kind of excitement compared to its European rivals. It couldn’t quite deliver the same connection to the road that a Porsche could, nor could it replicate the incredible sound of the high-revving V8s and V12s Ferrari offered. Instead, the GT-R’s excitement came from its sheer brutality and raw power. The gear shifts were incredibly quick and snappy, the engine could pull strongly at any RPM, the GT-R's four-wheel-drive system allowed drivers of all skill levels to tackle corners with incredible confidence, almost as if they were racing drivers.
The main objective of Nissan was to create a car that could compete with the legendary 911 Turbo at a fraction of the price. Not only did the Nissan GT-R beat the Turbo, but it also achieved this with an impressive margin. The GT-R outperformed the Turbo in nearly every measurable way. It boasted a slightly higher top speed, accelerated to 60 miles per hour faster, and on the track, its performance was so much better, it felt like it was from a class above the Turbo.
The best time a 911 Turbo could do on the Nurburgring was 7 minutes and 49 seconds, while the GT-R, in challenging wet conditions, posted a time of 7 minutes and 38 seconds, outpacing the Turbo by a significant margin even under bad weather. And when Nissan returned a year later for additional runs under dry conditions, the GT-R shocked everyone with a time of 7 minutes and 27 seconds.
Even Porsche’s track-focused GT3 RS, a lightweight, purpose-built machine, was also outpaced by the GT-R. With a lap time of 7 minutes and 42 seconds, the GT3 RS couldn’t keep up, showing that the GT-R was not just competing with but outperforming all what Porsche had to offer. Under pressure, Porsche responded in 2010 by upgrading the GT3 RS significantly, hoping to close the gap. The enhancements included a larger engine, moving from 3.6 to 3.8 liters, which increased horsepower to 450. They introduced shorter gear ratios for quicker acceleration, extensively reworked the aerodynamics with a larger carbon-fiber rear wing, and widened the track for better handling while removing considerable weight. Despite these major revisions Porsche made to the GT3 RS, the GT-R retained its lead, as the upgraded Porsche clocked in at 7 minutes and 33 seconds around the Nurburgring-still a couple of seconds behind the GTR.
And just a year later, in 2011 after the last update wasn’t enough, Porsche did some more improvements to the GT3RS, increasing the engine displacement to 4 liters, now making 500 horsepower, they also tweaked the aerodynamics and removed some more weight, finally after all these changes, it was able to catch the GTR, lapping the Nurburgring in 7 minutes and 27 seconds, the same as the GTR, to keep in mind is that at this point the GTR had less power and weighted 400 kilos more. In the same year, Nissan released the facelift for the GTR, increasing horsepower to 530. There were also some chassis improvements and once again the GTR was ahead of the GT3RS, now doing the ring in 7:24 seconds, not a massive difference but still quite significant. To mess with Porsche even more, Nissan released a track pack for the GTR, which revised the suspension and improved the aerodynamics, making the GTR even faster around the track, with a new time of 7:18.

Why Economy Cars Use Dual Clutch Transmissions?
มุมมอง 844หลายเดือนก่อน
Car manufacturers select different transmissions based on the type of vehicle and the experience they want to deliver to drivers. That’s why almost all supercars or sports cars have dual clutch transmissions as it provides driver engagement and better performance from its fast shifts. In contrast, luxury or more mainstream cars prioritize comfort and smoothness over performance. For these vehic...
The WEIRD Reason Police Love to Drive BMWs
มุมมอง 88K2 หลายเดือนก่อน
But what if I told you that BMWs are quite often chosen by different countries as their police cars, way more than any other luxury brand and in similar numbers as normal cars. Around 45 countries currently use or have used BMWs in their police fleet, which is similar to Volkswagen and much more than Mercedes if we exclude vans and trucks. While Mercedes cars are primarily used for executive ro...

STOP F**KING Comparing the Wrong Cars
มุมมอง 26K4 หลายเดือนก่อน
In this video I will talk you through on how to properly compare cars. I choose to compare Audi, BMW and Mercedes because its their fans most of the time that make the dumbest comments, comparing cars that they really shouldn't.
The WEIRD Reason BMW Never Built a V6

The WEIRD Reason BMW Never Built a V6
@2:13 shows AWD BMW, while saying "RWD was the only option"
Diesels are the most Unreliable the most ugly the most cring and most dirty engine ever created
I own an "Alfa Romeo 159 sportwagon 1.9 JTD 150 hp" the car is unstoppable like all diesels from that era. Big respect for: Peugeot: Hdi Volkswagen: Tdi Renault: Dci Mercedes: Om Fiat: Jtd
After the volkswagen scandal, ignorant snowflake influencers turned diesels into the scapegoat. Although private diesels constitute less than 5% of the global air pollution, they had to be stigmatised, and the EV companies got an opportunity. Few decades from now, I'm sure there would be documentaries on how we lost gold in pursuit of iron.
I dont want to be that guy that criticizes your videos but in your comparing cars video you were so funny you dont have to be so serious
may i ask where the OM606 for mercedes is?
Meanwhile Turk polices use Toyota Corolla
Audi develops it's own platforms apart from the A3/Q2 and A1. Then the rest of the VW group uses them. Also Audi develops most of the engines within the group.
and then mazda comes around the corner and puts out 3.3L straigt 6 diesel engines like they dont care
The ugly wife comparison is wild
The fact that a Japanese brand that only makes practical cars still managed to beat the record on the Nurburgring still amazes me
Nissan has a long history in racing, just because they built no sports car at the time doesn't mean they dont know how to do it
a tuned V8 4.2 TDI is arguably the best diesel ever made. Reliable, fast, somewhat economical. 535d M57 for a close second.
aren't unreliable at all
What’s the matter? You have a small dick?!
Talk about yamaha redesigned engines next
I got a 2.4 manual diesel innova. (Based on the toyota hilux ). Got one of the legendry diesels of toyota . Now they switching to enemic hybrids
Best diesel car I owned was a 2015 Hyundai Accent hatchback. 1.6 litre, 126hp and 264nm of torque. Gets more than 65mpg. It was torque-qy and peppy along with its DCT for a car that weighs just less than 1 ton, 0-60 was less than 7 seconds. It would leave Civics and Mazda 3's and the ford focus in the dust while sipping diesel. The engine was also very quiet and smooth too. I would use less than $10-15 worth of fuel every week for that car while going to work everyday. Too bad it was lost during a flood, insurance totalled it. Only major issue I had was replacing the AC compressor
One word. Autobahn
So,supercar brands get destroyed because are honest HAHAHAAHA😂😂
TR TR TR
What year these cars? In this video
My favourite BMW
The M5 has a V10 too
Originally its Audi engine and Lambo are using it when VW bought them
Where is om606
I like a good lie 😂😂😂
My oldr friend actually has 2 of these, one stock, the other he had a crazy huge supercharger installed ,lots of work but beautifully fast.
V12 TDI, what a pity, Audi didn't built the R8 with it. Guys, imagine having a super car with so many cylinders, insane torque and fuel economy...
This is when Germany still had an auto industry. Now look at the shit they're in trying to compete with China on electric cars.
I dont want to be that guy that criticizes your videos but in your comparing cars video you were so funny you dont have to be so serious
A Diesel is a diesel is a diesel is a Diesel.................❤❤❤❤ diesel lover
Couple of them are at mopar now. Making hellcat mini vans
Fun fact the 2024 mustang starts at 30 thousand not 40
if only egr didnt exist they wouldnt end up with 50% of their original intake diameter after 150000 km
"Shameless" they gibe you more than advertised 😂
In my opinion diesel isn't more economical, since it is more energy dense than gas. And more expensive now
They still slow af
Germans were funny when it came to their engines. They blew up after a week on the road.. But the ideas were cool
Thats a fucking t rex
Great video. But, Peugeot produced some amazing diesel engines back in the day. My 2007 Mondeo has a 2.0 TDCi, a DW10 engine, and it's beautiful in terms of how smooth it is, and the power output. Thankfully being in a Mondeo and not a Peugeot, it isn't choked by Peugeot emissions systems
Best of all om606
And then it breaks after a year of use
Golden Times
Nahhh! We need them to do drugs😂😂
Miss when Audi was Audi now it’s just aUdI
The best sounding sefan ever is the Maserati Quattroporte V.
Things designed by people who don’t have to service them.
Just like the German polititions....
Wait til the find out vw owns audi
Any engine can be efficient-----
