Songs I Like to Sing
I always wanted to be a folk-singer hero, so now here I am. There isn't a theme deliberately running through what I sing, except that I like singing all of the songs you'll find here.

I Don't Care Just as Long as You Love Me
By Buck Owens, who was an amazingly excellent guitarist among other things.
Me and Bobby McGee
By Kris Kristofferson. I saw this on TH-cam offered as one "You didn't know was a cover." Well, I knew it. It was done very well by both Kris and by Janis Joplin, who made it into a hit. It was written by commission for her to sing, so that's fair, isn't it? But Kristofferson's version is also excellent, if less bluesy.
Colorado Christmas
By Steve Goodman. Covered by the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, Tennessee Ernie Ford, and others. For non-Americans, the temperature is Twenty-Nine Degrees.
Blue Christmas
By Jay Johnson and Billy Hayes, who provided Elvis with yet another hit song. It's sad and campy at the same time. Enjoy!
Santa Clause is Coming to Town by Eddy Arnold.
I did a parody of this song. You can see it here: th-cam.com/video/FVybXbH8i6k/w-d-xo.html. Eddy Arnold was most popular during the mid-century period, but he wrote more songs than this one that I'll bet you know. Google him, you might be surprised. He didn't write this one, but he made it popular. I also did it last year, but not as nicely I think. The actual authors are credited in that place.
Cats in the Cradle
Cats in the Cradle by Harry Chapin. I may well redo this one once I get the callus back on my thumb, but anyway it's a poignent song and a pretty one, too.
Mother's Lament
Mother's Lament, a traditional song from England. Cream recorded it. I have posted it today because it took me almost a full week to recover from our cruise on the Mediterranean. Instead of rehearsing, I've been mostly napping on and off, but I seem to have my old energy back (all of that? Wow? I'm impressed. He wrote sarcastically.)
Night Rider's Lament
By Michael Burton. Originally pure Western (as in "Country and Western" with yodeling, presented here as a sort of country-folk song. Very pretty song.
Summertime Blues
Summertime Blues by Eddy Cochran. What Rock and Roll was originally about, just having fun with it.
April Come She Will
April Come She Will by Paul Simon, first heard on Simon and Garfunkle's breakout album "The Sounds of Silence."
For Lovin' Me
Gordon Lilghtfoot's not so n ice song about a lothario. Goes with the mid-century folk mythos, though. Produced with CyberLink PowerDirector

Well done
Nice - all 8 minutes! I felt a great kinship with your 'tune that proved to be a mission to get down' issue with Centre Field and, yes, always best to tackle a simpler tune and then get back to the one you were wrestling with. Great finger-picking too. Keep going!
Love it - wonderful stuff.
RIP Charlie Watts

Hahaha - twenty miles of bad road. Good song for your first posting. Cheers, Jan.
Cobain does country -- Love it, Steve. Also explains the needle and a spoon. You sing a nice version of it. This is one of my favorite Stones tunes. I think Far Away Eyes is my fave.
You do a nice version of this song. Glad you got the writing credit straightened out. 😊
He didn’t write it. June Carter Cash did.
I'll change the description after making sure. That does sound right, though. Thanks!
@@songsiliketosing9005 No problem! 👍
Turns out it was Johnny, June Carter (they hadn't married yet), and producer Merle Kilgore. Huh. Something new every day . . .
@@songsiliketosing9005 Really? Ok, thank you for the info! 👍
