Adventure Showdown: Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 vs Triumph Scrambler 400 X
Greetings from Auto Story! Two of the most popular ADVs available today are the Triumph Scrambler 400 X and the Royal Enfield Himalayan 450. The Scrambler 400 X, Triumph's entrance into the small capacity bike market, has excellent fit and finish, while the Himalayan 450, with its first-ever liquid-cooled engine from Royal Enfield, promises to tackle any terrain.
The Himalayan 450 boasts an excellent suspension system, a full-color instrument panel with Bluetooth and integrated maps, and 40.02 hp and 40 Nm of torque. The 400cc engine of the Scrambler 400 X produces 40 PS and 37.5 Nm of torque in addition to a slipper clutch and a stylish digi-analog cluster. The Scrambler weighs less, but its 835mm seat height might be challenging for shorter riders.

    TRIUMPH scrambler 400 X fit and finish built quality is awesome Too many problems in HIMALAYA 450, I booked the HIMALAYA then cancelled it and went for a TRIUMPH, can’t imagine the chassis breaking, the usual cone set issues, Bolts falling off from a running bike & brake pads wearing off after running 1000 to 1500 km. Sadly, I did not expect this from a bike manufacturer RE who is in the BIKE industry from decades 😢😮

    what about the tvs ronin does it worth to buy in 2024 ? please answer am confused which bike to buy ? i have the budget of 1.83 lakh.

      The TVS Ronin is too much like the Hunter 350 and in that regard, I would personally go for the original. On the other hand, if you are looking for tech, the Ronin has a few goodies like switchable ABS, LED lighting and the glide through mode.

      It is honestly a toss-up and largely comes down to your own preferences. I'm not that inclined towards the tech offered on the Ronin. In other aspects they're almost exactly the same. And as far as retro styled air-cooled singles are concerned, I like RE's design compared to TVS's so that would be my suggestion.

      The trade-off between capacity and mileage is always going to be there. If mileage is your primary concern, then you may want to look at a smaller capacity bike. But you will miss out on the extra power that the NS400 provides.

    where are you located at? cause hunter 350 costs around 2 lakhs if we go for the dapper, or the base model comes for around 1,80,000

      In Mumbai, the ex-showroom price for the Hunter 350 is 1.49 lakh. I picked up mine for about 2.25 lakh which is the rebel blue on-road with a few accessories.

      We're fairly average at about 5.8 and 5.9. The Scrambler is tall but it's not too daunting. We also uploaded a short which demonstrates a 5.2 friend being able to stand with both feet down, albeit on her toes.

    How is it for touring, say, 600-700 km a day? Wind resistance would be an important issue!

      Wind resistance is an issue for which you may want to get an aftermarket flyscreen. Otherwise on a long ride, the bike itself feels completely unstressed

    Actually, if you do a little digging, you can find out that the first bike planned was Scrambler 400x and then it was trimmed down to make Speed 400. And the only reason Speed 400 was launched first was to get the initial customer base with such low price, this strategy was quite good actually, we have the results. Although because of low average height and the discount also the city riding being the basic need, people will prefer the speed 400 over scrambler 400x
