Then click on that dialog box asking for a password, then wait for the wait cursor, then dismiss the error message about incorrect permissions, then hunt down your list of known passwords, which don't seem to work anymore, then reset your password using your email or phone, which may or may not work, then dismiss the beeping house alarm indicating your internet is down and you apparently can't do anything computer related unless you're connected, then reset your modem and router, then wait some more, then get back online to discover some updates occurred in the background without your PERMISSION, then find out the program you were trying to use has been updated and no longer works properly, then spend the next day and a half downgrading and troubleshooting, And, all you wanted to do was open a file (which might contain a virus) and print it. Technology is not assisting man kind, but controlling it, and eventually when we are no longer necessary or relevant to our robot overlords, we will be made obsolete...No upgrade path for the human race :)
"OH no, we can't have an extension cord running through the floor". "Now we moved it" - 3:37 shows them having an extension cord running through the floor and under a door frame...
Why do these videos in the 90s always make people look like complete idiots? People weren’t stupid. They figured things out after a few minutes. The dad acts like in 1995, he’s never seen a computer. So how did the little preteen with a dann too much to say, figure things out so fast? God, those where dark times.
There was something about having a family shared computer that was cool. You all left your mark with the customisation. And you could see each other's high scores (I'm looking at you Maelstrom).
People must have been a lot more patient in 1995, because no one in 2023 would sit through a nearly 25 minute video just to learn how to set up a computer.
Aa a person born in 2005 looking. Maybe i don't understand but look like 1990s computer weren't made for performance and gaming but simplicity so normal people could understand them
For being a 68K machine I am surprised that it shipped with 7.5.1. Seeing the Smiling MacOS faces didnt debut until 7.5.1 on the 6200 Performas. I also was surprised to see an Apple Design Keyboard as standard instead of the Apple ADB II Keyboard.
Madona - "When your Mac is frozen." original (Madonna - Frozen) You barely see what your eyes try to see How can that screen be so small like a dot. MAC frozen When flopy disk not open. You're so upset with how little you get You waste your time with hate and regret MAC broken Still flopy disk not open. Mmmmmm, if You could melt your Mac. Mmmmmm, we'd never be apart Mmmmmm, give yourself to PC. Mmmmmm, you hold the pole...
"Does that prevent screen burn in?".... how the heck do you know what screen burn in is when you can barely turn on the computer yourself? LOL nobody was this dense when they first got their first computer. LOL
This was a big problem when TVs were left on when the station went to test pattern, as well as when used with some early home computers and video consoles. Later CRT televisions were a bit more resistant to burn in vs their earlier counterparts due to using better phosphors in the display but it could still happen. Monochrome computer monitors really had a problem with burn in, because they typically had a piece of software displayed on them with a few unchanging elements that would be on there all day, every day. I'm sure "dad" saw quite a few ATM machines and office computers with this problem.
20:00 - Were these printers really designed to bend your page up like that?
The technological development should have stopped at this point. With the laptops and mobiles, the work is carried around everywhere.
I love how even in the time when computers were just becoming a household item, the kids were already explaining stuff to the parents.
Computers were plug and play. Technology could learn from the past.
I thought Australia was a prison island made by England. They don't look like gangsters.
It's funny what 207 years can do.
Sorry took my two breaks and made this video into a movie! Smh I need to return mine to Kmart
These teens are now in their late 40s. Just saying. I'm 24 btw and I already feel old.

4:45 they forgot to turn it on at the mains before pressing the power button LUL
It's amazing how times have changed. Before you had to share, now everyone has their own or more than one.
There was something about having a family shared computer that was cool. You all left your mark with the customisation. And you could see each other's high scores (I'm looking at you Maelstrom).
my old high school had copies of these tapes they were dumping so i grabbed one out of sheer curiousity.
These people talk funny 🤭
I like how they get it home in the sunny daylight, and by the time they get it plugged in, it's dark outside.
We come a long way since then we all have word and USB drives and the cloud.
My first computer was a Macintosh Performa with 2X CD-ROM Drive
Take a break every 10 minutes? lololol..
Why did they film that with the porn movie lens…. and porn movie music?!
The brightness level on this video is off the charts, where are they situated, the sun?! Oh it's Australia, sorry, makes sense.
People must have been a lot more patient in 1995, because no one in 2023 would sit through a nearly 25 minute video just to learn how to set up a computer.
they were different times...simpler times.
@@exakelgamingpeople confuse simpler times with the time that everything is so complicated that you can only do simple things
cringe AF
Welcome to the 90s!
Interesting to see that now on days stuff that is pretty much hardwired into almost everyone had to be explained in depth before
Well yes because consumer level pcs were still a new thing in the 90s. Now that it's been around for nearly 30 years we don't need to bat an eye.
Aa a person born in 2005 looking. Maybe i don't understand but look like 1990s computer weren't made for performance and gaming but simplicity so normal people could understand them
The kid smarter than him, lol
This is what soap operas look like in the Invasion Of The Bodysnatchers universe after the pod people take over.
Ordered an Apple computer yesterday so I'm very happy to find this tutorial before it arrives
I’d love if this kind of music was still used nowadays
"act like a normal family" -nah
Back when families were families
Such families only still exist hidden in reality, not on TV or streaming services any more.

Quack temple uh oh
9:56 Hey that looks like a music CD. 😂 😂 😂

I love how the dad is the least educated, least capable, person in the family.
and he's white too. this is what the media is still portraying today.
At least he could help himself for a barbie
This is what my dad did when he tried to use my Windows 95 machine!
touch grass.
These kids are probably grandparents now.
That accent is pretty peculiar
very nice video... worth a watch...
These aussies are too friendly needs more cursing
2:12 Hubby okay-guy bullied by his Karen wife
This video is so fun. As a 90's kid, any computer was cool. The first computer I learned how to use was a Mac. This takes me back.
Interestingly, they never discussed how to make backups or the importance of doing that.
"Does that prevent screen burn in?".... how the heck do you know what screen burn in is when you can barely turn on the computer yourself? LOL nobody was this dense when they first got their first computer. LOL
Surely they had crt tvs. So burn in should be common knowledge
