Mustang (and other Fords) Automatic Windows not Working?
I think ill just buy salvage yard power doors that are complete and swap them out
That’s fine, but do research first. I was going that route, but to make it work I needed to pull the entire security system module from the donor along with the entire harness. I was about 45 minutes into pulling all that from a donor and decided it wasn’t worth it.
Just get a blow off valve adapter
Would it be the same removing the fan on a mkz 09
It will be really similar, and you should be able to navigate your way through it, but I doubt it will be the exact same.
How many hours did this take from start to finish
I want to say 3-4. Some people will be slower. Some will be a lot faster. Depends on the little snags you hit and hunting for tools etc.
@GooseAutoWorks thank u so much
What's the advantage of catching this oil?
It doesn’t have the chance to become buildup/sludge. In the case in particular of smaller displacement, turbocharged engines that are direct fuel injection only, you also have the chance of valve coking over time, leading to other engine health and drivability issues.
I wanna do this to mine just if the motor goes out do I Gatta buy another kit every time
Oh my God dude I can’t. Thank you enough, I’m literally was driving my car and my windows is getting foggy, but my windows would only go up and not go down. Wash your truck and now it’s working fine.
By the way great video I’m doing this over the weekend 👍🏼
I have a 97 f150 would a newer door panel work? Like an 99-03
I believe it should. ‘97 to early ‘04 should be pretty interchangeable for most parts.
Aaayyye thank! It worked for me too
I removed the bolts from my driver seat and pushed it back to the back seat, and it gave me a lot more room.
Hey man, do you know if the F-150 or Raptor badges are removable on the OEM Raptor appliqué? I had someone rear end me the other day and luckily only scratched up one of the badges. A bit of an eyesore so if I can I’d like to be able to just replace that rather than buy a whole new appliqué. Thanks!
Here you can find the “F150” and “Raptor” badges although the appliqué version of the “Raptor” badge says discontinued. It looks like just the appliqué-delete version is available. That said you can plug that part number into a search and you might find one floating around on eBay or something. It’s hard to think Ford just stopped altogether, and it states it’s included if you buy the whole appliqué, but without trying to order one, I can just go off what I see. www.tascaparts.com/v-2017-ford-f-150--raptor--3-5l-v6-gas/body--exterior-trim-tail-gate
6:14 dude are you stupid?? you didnt even show where the bottom bolt is when you zoomed in all you said was "right there is that 13 mm bolt" not showing where tf its actually at in relation to underneath you idiot
What a shit show of a job that was! Very helpful video! I might add that if you take the switch off before you take the pin out under the pedal, you can reuse the switch and reset it . If not, you will need to replace it. "I learned the hard way but luckily I watched this video and snagged one up" I cut the bolts off the booster with bolt cutters to get it out. To get it in, I had to disconnect the master cylinder because my manifold was too difficult to unbolt. I have a 2012 Ford edge limited with the 3.5. My master cylinder was too big that I really don't think moving the manifold would have helped in my situation. I literally started the job yesterday at 6:15 am. Didn't finish until about 4pm.
It is meant to remove early stage turbo lag. But you don't need an expensive anything. The rubber foot on some old Crutches and a zip tie do the same thing.
Char tips work too, I had some old crutches
Where can I get the kit you used
I have links for everything in the video description.
I love the way you explain the way it should be done.
I like how there wasn’t any actual mounting in the mounting section of the video.
I know. That was my fault, sorry.
I noticed the part you have listed in the description for the booster isn’t the same part needed for a 2013 edge I’m about to do this job in the next couple of days just trying to see if I can actually use the part you listed in the descriptions
It should fit. I’ve actually used this one on a Ford Edge and a Lincoln MKX. Idk why Amazon is saying it doesn’t fit now. To double check I looked at the OEM P/N’s. They are the same as one another.
Appreciate that thank you
If my car has an empty fuse spot for power windows could I put it on there ?
As long as power is actually run to that location, sure.
Great video. I’ve just purchased everything I need plus some acoustic insulation to put on the ceiling and at back of the seats.
Great job man! I was going to buy new ones but your video has changed my mind.
the cabin has active noise cancelling. so it really makes no difference.
My passengers and I can definitely tell. Not saying you’re wrong. Just that personally it’s very obvious.
I just purchased a 2005 ford f-150 California edition from a guy. During the test drive several days earlier, the cruise control worked, but I did see the red brake light warning on the dashboard. When I drove it home yesterday red brake light warning was still on and I now had no cruise control. To me it also seemed like I had to push pretty hard on the brakes when wanting to slow down or stop, but maybe that’s normal for an old truck? I’ve never owned a pickup truck before. Do you think this truck needs the part you’re using/recommending in your video? Would that part be in the same spot (easy to locate) in a 2005 f-150 California edition? I looked but I didn’t see it in that location (but I’m also the furthest thing away from a mechanic!) Thanks
On your truck I believe it’s a blue and white switch, behind the brake pedal in the foot well. But it sounds like it’s a brake issue. Not cruise. Check your fluid level and if it seems to be leaking. If it’s full and in good shape it may be your booster. It shouldn’t be difficult to press the brakes. You can also test the booster by pushing in and holding on the brake. It shouldn’t sink while you’re holding. Also you can test it with the truck off. You should have about 1 and a half good presses with your foot before it gets firm. If you don’t have that or if you feel a sinking feeling or hear air squeaking or hissing your booster is bad. You can also make sure the vacuum hose leading to it is fully seated and not leaking. In that case you may also have a check engine light for a vacuum leak.
Late I know.. but I'm curious... If you got the door cards off a electric car... why didn't you get the electric windows motors from that? Certainly is less messing about.
I started to, but to make it work I would’ve needed the donor’s GEM module for security features as well to make it work. I got part way ripping the harness out and just decided I didn’t want to mess with it. That said I have a whole donor I’m going to be taking an engine from and I plan to swap over as many things from that vehicle as I possibly can.
@@GooseAutoWorks oh okay. The car you were doing up didn't have the BODY wiring loom for electric windows to start with? By security, do you mean the bcm/ecu(pcm)? I had a vy commodore s2 sedan (forget what they are called in the usa), n just got a wagon (same). The wagon was front electric, window winders in rear. I checked wiring (under console, and into door) n they had the same. So grabbed the internals from sedan and put in wagon.. bingo.. upgrade :) (I found your video looking for "how to align".. n now and going to look for that video you mention bout painting hehe) (If anyone reads this and wanting an easy tip to drill out rivets... use self tapping screws/bolts.. soooooo much quicker and efficient than using a drill bit)
@w0lfm4n43 the GEM is the Generic Electronics Module. It talks with the BCM, but also handles things like anti-theft and it controls things like the door locks and windows. In this example anyway. The Commodore sedan would be like our Pontiac G8.
Can you use gt350 brakes for this install on the front
No. That’s how I started down this path to begin with. The GT350 calipers are a radial mount so it’s a different style. You’d have to make a custom bracket of some sort to get them to mount. And even then with the current knuckle I’m not sure there’s be enough space to actually have everything fit without heavily modifying that too.
Im going to try this tomorrow morning on my 2.7 ford heritage twin turbo🎉 what else should i do
A tune is a great, easy and cost effective way to wake these things up a lot!
@@GooseAutoWorkswhat kind of tune? And can you give me an update on the vta mod since you’ve done it? Thank you
@rc_anykine8840 right now just a base performance tune from Diablo Sport. Looking to get a Goose Tune at some point. I’ve personally had zero issues or negative effects since the mod.
would this work vice versa. i have a ford expedition i wanna put a seat in front instead of the center console. so it has a 3seater front cab
It should, yeah. You’d need the bench seat with pan and its mounting brackets. You’ll have to plug a hole or two you’re no longer using after the switch, but I don’t see a problem with being able to do it.
You used your original seat plastic for the side and the original seat back? So only the Expy pan is needed?
Well in addition to the console itself and its 2 mounting brackets, you’ll need the Expedition pan and the mounting brackets to the floor.
2015 Ford Fusion here: The same thing happens if you are playing a youtube video with an emoji in the title. Because the title of the video is displayed with an emoji the sync application reboots. Damn good catch.
Oh interesting. lol thanks for the info
This video was very helpful in troubleshooting my cruise control in my 2001 F-150 Lightning. I was able to confirm that the sensor wasn't working. Before buying a new one, I checked the one on my 2002 Lightning which was working and just exchanged the two trucks' sensors. During the test drive, it still didn't work. I checked the fuse on the pigtail and it was blown. Replaced the fuse, and the cruise control has finally worked in my 2001 for the first time since I bought it 4 years ago. Now I need to by the replacement parts for the other one now. Thank you!
Glad to hear it, although I’m jealous of your 2 Lightnings lol
Would this also put the abs light on ?
It can, yes. Because that sensor on the master cylinder leaks brake fluid and because the levels can get too low your ABS light can certainly come on. Mine did. After the fix and filling it with fresh fluid it had stayed off.
what happend to the vod of carbon fibering the top
Kinda a long story. Before I could get footage of the final product a rock hit it and damaged a section of it. I fixed it, but that area had a chemical reaction with the new clear coat I used. Then I cracked a piston in the engine so it’s been in storage until I can just do a bumper to bumper restoration on it. Maybe start sometime after the new year.
Very helpful! I appreciate you including the part numbers and install guides in the description
Thanks Man. Between the repair, painting and install I worked pretty hard on this project and I’m really happy with how it turned out.
How much would a job like this cost labor wise?
I’m really not too sure. $400-$600 maybe?
Worked
Mines 2020 did not make a difference at all not louder just add blow off valves from summit racing and it sounds great that worth it
What was wheel specs for clearance reasons
These are the 20” AMR’s from American Muscle. They’re a 30mm offset and 150.7mm backspacing. Most 19” wheels seem to work as well.
I have a stock 2015 eco boost platinum. I love the turbo sound
After Jeremiah and Zach left I pretty much assumed James would leave too. Let's see how long Nolan stays there.I don't hate Donut media I just feel the things are not the same.
is there any way to remove the alternator without removing the fan? I just replaced the fan on my friends lincoln mkx and i really dont wanna do all that again
I’m going to a say no. At least not from the top. Even with the fan gone, you’ve got to be pretty careful and rotate the alternator around a bit to get it out. It’s a tight fit.
@@GooseAutoWorks damn, well i guess shes getting someone else to do it so crisis averted, everything is going wrong with this pos car
Can't you just pull the outside trim off and seal it with silicone?
Maybe, but I don’t think so. Since it’s the housing the glass is attached to that’s actually making the seal, and that housing is further in than the outer edge of the glass, you would probably have a hard time getting all the way around, on top of potentially making a mess. And going around just the outside of the trim won’t really do anything. The trim isn’t responsible for any real sealing to speak of.
trash. you removed two components that allow you to efficiently generate boost without compensating. those fins you removed allow the air to cyclone into the turbo, causing for a more efficient spool up. the increase in noise you hear is because you're making the turbos work harder to generate the same boost. you want to make a louder turbo sound, try replacing your CAI, hot and cold side piping, and use a BOV so you don't lose vacuum when not boosting. Not that venting to atmosphere with a B.O.V. does anything performance wise, I personally have nothing against dropping chains (that PSHHHH sound), but do it the right way man. maybe read up on how a B.W. turbo maintains efficiency before showing people how to slow their truck down, reduce fuel economy, and quite possibly fuck their turbos up. i mean you couldn't even be bothered to use something like an HPS Performance 28mm high temp silicone coolant cap, you used a fucking chair tip. I don't have a problem that you do this to your own truck, But it's irresponsible for you putting this video out like you know what you're doing. and yes, i get it, "why spend $1k when i can just delete a couple of parts and spend $1.50 on some dollar store shit?" longevity of turbos efficiency of turbo safety of intercooler safety of turbo reduced boost reduced spool times reduction in power but hey, congrats on your 64k views
Thanks Man 😊
Two is unnecessary.
Rather have 2 for both banks than a Y into 1 from both banks that is prone to failure
I'd have to say that you are wrong. Well most of these videos just talk about putting one on the passenger side and saying that's where all the problem is, I happen to be working on an F-150 with a 3.5 EcoBoost for a customer right now and it has a substantial amount of oil in the intake tubes on the drivers side, making dual catch cans an absolute necessity.
I actually did an oil change over the weekend and was surprised how much oil was captured in the “clean side”. Still nothing like what was in the other one, but still managed to get something at least.
Thank you soooo much for this video! Exactly what I was experiencing!
I’m probably over thinking this. But….. by unhooking the dump valve to the intake, in my theory it should over all allow cooler intake air by not recirculating and or releasing the hotter pressurized air into the intake. Most likely minimal if any difference, just my thought.
Also just checked my 23’ and it doesn’t have the “silencer” anti vortex things in it
Yeah, maybe. I’m not sure how the charged air temp compares to under hood atmosphere air.
They removed these in ‘21 I believe
@@GooseAutoWorksit has to be higher it’s inevitable. By design turbo charger air is higher due to running through a mechanical device that uses hot exhaust gases to function. But like I said the difference in the intake would be minimal at best
@user-ym2jj1zy4zshow me what you’re talking about because charged air is always hotter
Great video, thank you for taking the time to explain and help. Keep up the great content.
Did you notice any negative effects on performance
No, not at all. If there is any negative effect, it’s negligible. And the fun turbo noises make up for it anyway lol
Love this going to do this to my 2003 ranger !!!!!!!
Good luck. It should be a pretty similar process for you I would think.
