Always get the two year warranty, these things are junk, I’ve been through 3 of them. Harbor freight has a lot of good stuff, but the jumper boxes are a fail.
Hello again, KDTX Tool Dad Thank you for another Great Video 👍 Looks like a Great set of impact sockets. Again thank you 👌
Appreciate it 💯🍻
My question to as a 72 year old former mechanic. Why didn’t you just remove the Sir Clip ? I just happened to come across your video.
So thank you for this video first off I bought the extended handle and regular length v-series ratchets at Lowe's for dirt cheap and you're right if you do soak them and 3 in 1 oil overnight it will seep into the gearing and really make that ratchet buttery smooth plus if you run it back and forth on a drill to break them in they get super smooth
💯💯💯
How are they with rust?
Couldn’t say, never had to deal with that issue down here in Texas. But I will say, about 2-3x a year I open my drawer of impacts and soak them down with wd-40 and thats also helped keep them going as well.
Could you just drill a small weep hole in the backing plate and squirt some oil in?
Dripping some kroil around the selector lever, working the switch back and forth and then leaving the head sitting upside down would probably let the lube creep down inside and get to the main gear.
Thr fact theres no 15, 16, or 18 was a deal breaker for me (air hose fittings and sway bar end links) even at 20 dollars missin those sizes why buy it? I guess maybe to supplement another set? I got the husky set because it has the sizes i actually use. Might be okay depending on your usage, i used the husky ones with a 1/2 impact lol.
Great video. Thank you. I wonder what the real failure time frame would be without the lubrication. Thinking about the metal alloy type and real world use vs wear.
@KDTX We are going to be new youtube friends here KDTX my names Mike 45 live in WA State. I like your style. your shop setup- cool dude i just subscribed i just loaded out amazon with some items you have in your garage that iv been looking for a solution to myself the Capri tools airgun- killer find, i just bought that one you have heres the link, now this is an airgun folks I use my Harbor Freight ones daily and they are ok but this is a master airgun .. IM going to cut open 1 of the 12 Craftsman V series ratchets i recently bought at Lowes close out and see how my lube experiment went. They sound and feel better but im going to do like ya did and see what's going on inside. SO what i did was soak the V series ratchets overnight suspended deep in transmission fluid. Then i took them 1 at a time and put them in a drill chuck with extension and ran them at low and high speeds while submerged in the trans fluid. Then i did the same thing with a overnight soak in 90 weight gear oil and then a run in the drill same way so now cutting it open we will see how much red trans fluid made it in vs how much yellow gear axle oil is in them i figure the 2 viscosities will settle out and separate so we can see how much of each is in the ratchet head after this test i did. www.amazon.com/Capri-Tools-Nozzles-Rubber-8-Piece/dp/B0D7XZKKPH/ref=sr_1_7?crid=28HVC85JPDQKB&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.1txTP7zdgkFUmFlNbxoT8z09_Ev0ud9JfrJbtMX2wBAk5Um7Md9ds7pAH14yEmvSLw8-gVf8vnufT4FF044gyr-PdcmrilVegPEoqI-1V1v-n2ffI1K9kGzwvMQc6SOtV_D8LDuOPdW29o5HYuwBywBqpRwTxNt9fWoucXiP7lDrojXtZWywbhnm72eTNvzpWq-yy1dukqLXAuS53nTLB7kB-y3PF_fGbv4-HT-o3z5qeFTQ0HIcFvToYzuawLrUbyxRGOi9IWJSs7Z9cGWBq7qVYs1-6nD6Ol2Wy7-3BJE.UIHcgjS_Tt4pvoGxCtAk1bzQYTOlZd28113XQaOf34g&dib_tag=se&keywords=capri+tools+blow+gun&qid=1730799540&s=hi&sprefix=capri+tools+blow+gu%2Ctools%2C293&sr=1-7
Don’t see the point of cutting it open. It’s not like they melt metal into a mold around the internals. Sure there is a way to take the guts out and re lube
Thanks dude I was lost!
Anytime!💯
I have the 4 piece set that includes the stubby 3/8 and 1/4, 3/8 & 1/2 standard length flex head ratchets. I stuck them in a tub of 3 in 1 oil overnight when I got them. Been working flawless for almost 2 years now without any issues at all. Think I got the set for $50 a couple of Christmas’s ago at Lowe’s while waiting for my snap on rebuild kits to arrive in the mail. I’m a retired Acura mechanic and also worked as a machinist for 12 years. These are perfectly fine ratchets for 99.9 percent of what I need them for.
love sockets 😅 . love the series 👍
Appreciate it brother 💯🍻 hope you haf a great weekend!
Hello again, KDTX Tool Dad Thank you for another Great Video 👍 Question for you, Genius Tools is pretty new to me. By chance do they have a 12-point SAE version? I would need them to work on Aircraft. As most of the hardware is 12-point. With some 6-point hardware thrown in. Again thank you 👌
So apparently for the semi deep sets they only have universal joints semi deepsin SAE, kind of odd they never made semi deep sockets only for SAE, guess not enough demands for it.
Love the socket series !!!
Appreciate it!💯🍻
Great upload! really like Genius tools for the most part, Have used their extensions, impacts, and the long box wrenchs that a family member has, price seems om par and i think it on a perfessional level. the lond box wrenchs are made in USA, and i have been told thou i cant confirm.. that they make them for mac tools
long not lond...on box wrenchs
How are you liking those Ersnt/Tekton socket rail, and how do they hold up also?
Theyve been good, made well, not overly expensive and are good for when you want to move around with them. But I don’t use them in my boxes any longer, I’ve since upgraded to toolgrid.
GREAT VIDEO I THINK MY TRANS FLUID SOAK IS WORKING THEN!!!! next step im going to run the ratchet submerged in trans fluid with an extension on it and run it in a drill chuck to get some more lube in the heads of these V series ratchets.
I did the same thing and it freed up all of my v series ratchets, I use them professionally and haven’t broke any even with cheater pipes lol
Sweet let us know how it works out
I bought nearly every hand tool in the V series on close out at LOWES this week how did you break them in i have 12 V series ratchets now im soaking them in Transmission fluid right now.
Sweet! Heck ya glad you were able to take advantage of the sales
I picked up the 3-pack without the grips b/c thats all that was left in my area and the flip-switches on all 3 of the sets in-store feel awfully stiff and not smooth at all. Did that change at all with the lubricant?
To me it feels much better
Great video!! I just did a review on the 1/4 and 3/8 and noticed the back drag, I’m gonna try the break in with a drill like you did on the previous video. Just subscribed, I appreciate your work on these videos
Thanks 💯
so how did they hold up ?
Not good, stay away from them, they started off fine, ended up dying pretty quick, and not being able to hold a charge and would run super hot
They had regular screwdrivers on sale as well when I went earlier this week. I think they were $20 and seemed like a good deal.
Nive!
Hopefully the new ones have 15mm lol
I know right! Missed size gaps are the worst!
You can't beat Craftsman warranty online. I will always use their chat online. They are always very helpful and will never hassle you about the warranty. Plus it shows up in a matter of days. Even if you have an old broken V-series they will send you the new V-series they won't cheap out and send you a cheaper tool.
Thats awesome to hear about that! Appreciate you letting us know!🍻
I use a lot of Proto and Craftsman stuff in a professional setting since I don't have truck swinging by the lab, SBD's phone and online customer service is pretty good.
Yup im getting these
I went last weekend & everything in store was still regular priced
I talked to store mamanger at Lowes Lowes is not going to be selli ng the V series tools any more they are blowing out the inventory nation wide and thats it V series will be ACE hardware and Amazon only I just finished purchasing every V series tool ratchet, socket and wrench set ever made
I score last 3 piece V series comfort grip ratchet set left in Washington state for $59 Was $ 179 th-cam.com/video/kuMlfe-isFs/w-d-xo.html
Not surprised.
People need to ensure that atf or petrol based lubricant isn’t going to swell their sealing O-ring. May take a year or two but by this time v series is likely not going to be around anymore….
12-24mm shallow 6 point chrome 1/2” sockets for 20$ with the magnetic rail
Don't know about the sockets, but those are the nicest looking rail I've seen.
Definitely good deal for $20
Craftsman isn't what it used to be. Nobody wants newer Craftsman tools
Market is flooded with tool brands.
The V-Series tools are way nicer than their standard made in China stuff.
@@blackbird_actual yeah but they went stupid with the price: so much so that they priced themselves literally out of the market.
@@MacAutoDiag No, I definitely agree with you on that. This Lowe's sale is probably the most they've ever sold of it.
Remington oil works. I went drop by drop and flipped the switch 5-10 times with each drop. I did about 10 drops and sure enough it all went in. Not only that but after I ran it on my impact, I noticed some black stuff slightly leaking from around the anvil; that oil did make it in and this process worked. Next I’m gonna try some Mobil 1 on another ratchet.
Nicely done 💪🏼💯
I got the metric 7pc XXL double box end ratcheting flex head set for 50 bucks and the 8pc reversible ratcheting set for $30. They are excellent. They appear to come dry so I sprayed some WD-40 Specialist Silicone Lubricant on the ratcheting mechanism, worked it in, let it sit for an hour, then wipe em down. Buttery smooth. Next up, the made in France screwdrivers for 20.
Sweet! The screwdrivers are definitely on my list to add as well
That's 100 dollar that could be going to that nice m12 stubby that can rip apart 550 ft/lb.
Those some great deals man!
💯💯💯 definitely bro!
I was hoping they'd put the sae regular combination wrenches on sale, like they did with the mm for $40. It doesn't look like it's going to happen, so I guess I'll be paying full price, even though that hurts my wallet and soul. I've got plenty of wrenches, just no standard length, shorter sae. I have mostly long patterns and a couple sets of stubbies. I wanted the screwdriver set, but my Lowes stays out of stock, and they're not shipping the v-series in my area anyway.
They both were on sale in indiana.
Check ebay, might be some deals there of someone getting rid of their stock
Would you know What material is the o-ring made of? I ask because I have tried super lube food grade iso 68 part 60004 on the 3/8 that I had around and it made a world of difference and the ratchet seemed to have like it : ), like a lot. It reduced the back drag considerably. Just wanna make sure the internal non metal parts are compatible with this oil as the ratchet is not serviceable 😳 Any clue as to what specific material is the elastomer/rubber o-ring?
Definitely seemed to be rubber for sure
I really didn’t need any of this. But in the last 2 weeks I’ve got the 3 piece grip ratchet set the long flex head wrenches the ratchet wrench set and 2 screwdriver sets.. for about $180. The regular price on the long flex wrenches alone is $180. Hard to pass up on a deal that good.
Yea definitely 💯 glad you picked them up for these prices
I spoke with 2 Craftsman corporate representatives and 1 Craftsman customer service representative since Friday. They aren't going to discontinue the V-Series. They are coming out with new versions of the ratchets that has better grips and can be serviceable. They are addressing the skipped sizing within their wrench sets and releasing newer hand tools in early 2025. So is icon with their G2 professional ratchets coming early next year aswell.
That’s great news! Thanks for sharing! 🍻
You have actual proof of this? Posted up
@@andrestnt harbor freights showcase for sema 2024 got leaked like 2-3 weeks ago and they’ll have a brand new line up of icon ratchets to show, dont know about craftsman v series tho, seems likely
@@brianrosales3210 that's HF, we talking craftsman. Lots of speculation but no proof. Hf always leaks their new tools via their paid shills.
Even if the website say none is available in store might have them. Went in today and they were there, but I didn't see the set of 3 long reach ratchets though.
Yea I checked online for store availability definitely would have to make some trips to get them, not sure if its worth the extra driving all across the metroplex
I ordered 2 sets and one said they were out of stock. So, we walked down to the tool section and the had 5 of them.
Already done, about a week ago. Early voting is the way to go 😅 Again thank you 👌
Awesome, thank you! 💯🍻
If you like ratchets, get you one of the little Titan 1/4” rotor-heads. They are great!
Yup I got a small orange one, I love using it to do crankshaft sensors behind the heads perfect size and theyre pretty sturdy
Coming from using mainly an adjustable crescent, having a ratchet and sockets is a blessing.
Good ole crescent wrenches, they were definitely one of the go to tools back in the day 💯🍻
These are $19.00 till January 1 at lowes
Thats pretty sweet price for it
Anvil is retained in like a cv axle with circlip.
Thanks I needed to know what the red light meant, people beat around the bush. You got right to the point!!😊
Glad to be of help! 💯
Dont quote me but i think Mac dosent make Mac branded electric impacts anymore, they are strictly dewalt impacts now.
What!?!? No way, definitely did not hear that. If they did, it is a sad day.
They have a sale right now on 3 ratchet for 60. but they are so bad, that I went and got an one 1/2 Long reach for that same price. No thanks. It's unfortunate, because their sockets, combination wrenches, and the xL box ends are great, but who's going to risk spending good money after experiencing that junk. LOL
