I am from the U.K. and agree with what you are saying 100%. What you have elaborated on is not just happening in South Africa with migrants, it is the same in most western countries. As you pointed out the elites (upper middle upper class) that bring these migrants to our countries in huge numbers, DO NOT listen to what the working class & poorer native citizens have been saying for years. They have not listened to our complaints about how the migrants negatively impact our lives, take jobs which have sustained families for generations, and are driving down wages in the labor market, by working for a lot less pay. Middle & upper class people commonly go on T.V. and tell us "Immigrants are good for the economy". "People who don't want immigrants are just racist". The thing is the people who say this are not the ones who have to deal with migrants directly. The migrants are always strategically placed in working class and poor areas of the host country. Businesses utilize the migrants for cheap labor, at the expense of native citizens. Hiring migrants ONLY is a way for businesses to side-step having to pay local citizens a fair & livable wage. Business owners commonly perpetuate the narrative "Our local born people are all lazy and entitled, but the immigrants work hard". Which obviously breeds resentment among local born people, right? Just look at how the U.K. is on fire with riots, looting, fire bombings etc... It is because the working class have been complaining about the migrants for decades, and nobody listened. They were just called xenophobic or racist. So, people have given up and taken the law into their own hands.
