As for wind, I know Derek isn't saying he has a consistent wind direction all the time. But I'm from SE Pasco county(central FL) and have hunted the WMAs around me for almost 5 decades now. I hunt from the ground and by far the #1 reason my scouted area gets boogered or I get directly busted is swirling winds in a swamp, hammock, pine flat or high scrub, not just the wind coming from the wrong direction for a predetermined area. I've found it to be a frequent challenge, especially in early season with warmer temps, to get as long a window as I can get of somewhat favorable wind (mostly for a while in morning). Longer during a cool front. These days the best thing I've figured to do is get a wind direction report, determine the exact opposite direction, then use that 180 degree cone of deviation to hunt the sign / gametrails from downwind and move in the moment if I'm wrong. I dunno what the hell else a fella could do. Cant get 1 every trip I guess. That's why it's called Huntin', right? Derek, thanks for your content. You're much appreciated. - S. Grimes

Thanks, for sharing your knowledge. My son and I have spent so much time researching and scouting, we feel like amateurs and not newbie's. My son made a deal today on private land to hunt this (youth) weekend. Part of his agreement was if it a nice FL buck it gets mounted. Finger crossed you have more work at the shop coming up.

Wow! Thats a lot of deer. Thanks for sharing all your videos. It’s my first season hunting and only have gone out to Chassahowitzka about 4 times. Only one day did I see deer, but I’ve seen plenty of tracks. I’m learning as much as I can from your videos. It’s been tough, lol. I enjoy being out there, just got to find the right place to be.

Definitely was a ruff night. I'm in Pasco and did not stay in my mobile home. I've seen flooding in places I've never seen a mud puddle in 30 years here. Little tree damage at my place. Glad everything and everyone good at your place 🙏

I came down 471 on my way back from Georgia on Monday, it looks like whitewater rapids in a couple places going under the road. Ton of water still making it's way to the Withlacoochie.

I had a young 4 point (legal) and a couple of fat does located on my little farm for opening weekend in the panhandle (oct 16), and a pair of dang coyotes have showed up and ran them off. I am gonna try to call em in, but if that doesn't work I need to find someone to trap them. Its always something, last year it was the neighbors dogs chaising deer and a bear that kept tearing down the feeders. The bear finally left and the coyotes show up.

I had a guy come set up 40 yrd from my stand this morning right at daylight scaring off all the deer in the woods does blowing and raising hell whole morning was ruined

So if you find a line that looks like a heavy traveled trail scrapes multiple in the area how do you know which way they’re going to bed down and which way they’re going to feed?

Did you take off into a swamp, slip around, and use a map app to make it out. The swamp does all look the same in there, can I get a little more info on the tactic used? I want to do the same with my 13-year-old.

If I found a scrape line in the woods to hunt. But I noticed someone else has it marked. Should I hunt that scrape if they are not currently in the stand when I show up?
