This game singlehandedly switched me to PlayStation

GameCube disk had storage limitations. So they couldn’t include all the superstars.

I think if I went back and played it now, this game would get old rather quickly. But as a kid I put hours into this game. This was my favorite game to play Hell in a Cell

I enjoyed WM18 but it was clear a first in the series kinda game where it was missing a lot of things but was fun enough. Also, I remember the GameCube wavebird wireless controller showing this game and it looked so fun. Good times. WM 18 is the weakest of the WWE GameCube games as each game got better each year

The only good thing about this game is the fact that has the OG NWO. Apart from that, it's pretty basic. The sequel has better roster and more options.

Been playing HCTP with the ultimate Edition mod and loving it. Recording it on my other Channel Wrestling Old Dan playing as William Regal but messed up by failing to record and saving. Will be starting again with a modified moveset(more brutal suplexes)

Custom attires appearing in the intro is amazing

Loved this game. Being knocked out of a move was often frustrating but also pretty cool. The fact that we could hit other characters with the one we were throwing is awesome. If that could be used to better effect it would be legendary

"YO, YOU'RE DEALING WITH THE X-FACTOR!" *32-bit version of that damn Uncle Kracker theme plays* That song was cheesy enough hearing it with the vocals, the GBA rendition of it was something else. Still, least it's preserved in that way, compared to WWE Network replacing it their later theme due to copyright :P

Kevin Nash was not in WWF Wrestlemania The Arcade game. His last WWF game appearance would have been RAW on SNES/Mega Drive.

To answer the 'what game used the WWE branding first' question, I'd say it was probably Smackdown! Shut Your Mouth - Wrestlemania X8 had been in development for longer at the time, and the WWF/WWE rebranding occurred so late into this game's production, it would have taken extra time to change everything, so all the WWE branding is relegated to the game's cover and the trademark disclaimer before the developer logos play. The only real change they did to remove a WWF logo was removing the one on the Smackdown fist arena. Hell, a few very early North American covers used the unabbreviated 'World Wrestling Federation' title before changing that to the WWE logo. And yeah, Austin walked out on June 10th, 2002 (Same day as the game's NA release), so the later international releases (and the US Player's Choice re-release) replaced him with The Rock.

When Jericho unified the titles, they had the old WWF belt and the World Heavyweight (WCW) belt for his entire reign. A few weeks after HHH beat him at WrestleMania X8, they replaced them both with the new Undisputed belt. They then brought back the World title months later, after this game's development cycle (and after its US release). From the release dates and roster, I'm guessing that the game itself was pretty much finalised before they changed the belt so that's why the old one is in the ladder match, but that they had time to slap an image of the new belt on the menu/victory screen. The roster also seems like it was finalised before X-Pac and Eddie Guerrero came back after WrestleMania X8.

It's Not the best WWE game but I enjoy it I've gone back to WM 18 so many times over the years I find to matches a little bit more competitive then the SD game during this period (BTW I believe Shut Your Mouth is the first fully WWE branded game beyond just the cover art) they fought back hard but yeah I hated 3 & 4 way matches on GC they are relentless haha.But I appreciate this game for what it is along with the hell in a cell comments I like the announce table doesn't disappear after it's broken like some other games or having the SD fist like Just Bring It or the only game having Kane Survivor Series 01 attire he's my favorite so that scored points with me again it's not the greatest game ever but it was good enough for me.

i would say these games were more closer to the n64 aki titles then smackdown, i think the move interrupting thing was for immersion but your right, here anyways it was kind of annoying. Smackdown games wouldn't have a feature like this until wwe 12 i believe.

Eddie was released in 2001 and didn't return until april of 2002 so he wasn't going to make the game since he returned too late to be included in this game. The rest were valid but you can create those stars in CAW since their faces are in CAW. The GC discs are small so they can add but so much.

I know this game gets a bad rap but I loved this game back in the day and still love it to this day. It was better than raw but worse than smackdown but we still chose to play this game over smackdown shut your mouth because the multiplayer was pure chaotic.

"Gameplay lacks that oompth" spot on. I mind playing WM20 (maybe 19, can't mind) on my pal's gamecube and, as cracking as the presentation and graphics are, gameplay felt rubbish. Lack of a season mode is mental, especially if it was still yukes/thq making this game lol? What's the excuse?

I always like to share the story of how this game was the actual reason I bought a GameCube back in 2002. My friend down the street rented this one Friday and we played it for hours. I suppose I really appreciated the simple controls and the slapstick nature of it. It was just so damn hilarious and to top it off, we'd beat the shit out of the referee which to that point I don't remember a game where you could actually do that (I think WWF No Mercy's 'Guest Referee' mode couldn't be CPU controlled). Just really, really good memories with this one! Some fun facts: • My copy of WWF(E) WrestleMania X8 has the WWE logo on the cover art, but there's a WWF Officially Licensed Product sticker on the case laminate • Here in America, Stone Cold Steve Austin was on the front cover but was switched to the The Rock when the game hit the Players Choice status • I think Raven being a hidden character was the doing of one of the developers who was a huge fan of his, and wanted his inclusion to be special-- but I can't confirm that

And the only way to play them all was to own all 3 consoles! That kind of competition is what's missing these days..

Played all 3 of these. I put way too much time in all 3 as a kid/teen lol. The control mechanics were easy for me. I think I liked wwf road to wrestlemania the most. I loved the career mode and having all the belts, the tag team moves with your partner, and the crowd interactions(the better the match, the more they cheer or react from slow to fast) wrestlemania 18 would be my favorite if they just added stone cold and scott hall to the roster

WWF Superstars is a total gem. Even though it was made by LJN (Laughing Joking Numbnuts). I call it one of the best LJN games. I have that game, and King Of The Ring. I never played the other 3.

The biggest problem with the moving platforms is the damn camera angle. Its horrible

Around the late 90s early 00s the X games were massively popular the THPS games were massively popular and so was nu metal And they all seemed to go hand in hand At least it was in England, I remember watching the extreme sports channel

A friend of mine had one of the games (I think it was 2) on PS1, but the main way I experienced this series was with the GBA version of THPS3, and I was fairly satisfied with it back then!

I owned all of them when they were released mostly because my parents didn't allow me to have a console until I was a bit older so I was on my gameboy all the time. As absolutely huge into skating as I was beginning to get back then as well as video games, I 100% knew they were inferior to the console versions after playing those at friends houses but I still cherished them because it's all I had. I can definitely attest to the third one being completely ridiculous with those hi scores and sometimes impossible combos and level designs lol I'd honestly say my favorite out of the gameboy versions is still the second one, I was totally hooked on that one. Great job covering them all in the way you did, had I never played them I probably would not even bother but they were definitely a part of my childhood!

Let me tell you man... i was about 10 when i got thps3 for my birthday and it quickly became my favorite game. Then christmas rolled around and i got thps3 for the gbc.... i was so excited!!! So i popped it in to my blue gbc and it was like santa shit in my stocking. Iimagine tony hawk ruining your Christmas... The memory haunts me to this day
