    We heard rumors about this place in Perry and Madison Florida in the 70s. Me and my Brother was threatened to be sent to the reform school in Marianna if we didn't straighten up. Crazy madness there.

    I lived here, and was born here. I always heard about the boys being beaten. I remember when one would run away, thry would warn the community to be careful because they were dangerous, i realized they were afraid of us,and being returned to Dozier. They employed a lot of locals, so no,they don't want to admit what happened.

    I've lived in Florida all my life and never heard of this place until I drove by it a few weeks ago. I stopped to fly my drone and a guy stopped and told me a little about it's history. Now, here I am. It's sickening that such a terrible place existed here.

    Great video! Proud of my Great Great Grandfather's service in the 1st Florida Regimental Infantry, CSA. He fought in the Battle of Santa Rosa Island and eventually to Shiloh where I have traced his Company to the Hornets Nest. He went on to fight in the Heartland Campaign. He was KIA in the Battle of Perryville, Ky. RIP

    The dam should be dismantled, and any existing canal returned to a natural state. Florida's water, wildlife, tourism, sealife and beaches depends on the integrity of the ecosystem. Projects like this destroy the ecosystem. The importance of the ecosystem isn't about "tree hugging", it's about the economic viability of Florida!!
