C5 / C6 Corvette Sway Bar Install / Upgrade
*Always use jackstands, wear safety goggles, and check parts. Modifying your car can change the way it performs, so do so at your own risk.*
How to remove your old sway bars and endlinks and replace or upgrade. Sway bar endlink is the same part for both sides and for front and back. Upgrading to a larger diameter / stiffer sway bar can help with your Corvette's performance and handling, especially in corners.

C6 Corvette Z51 and base model comparison
มุมมอง 32K6 ปีที่แล้ว
In this video I go over the differences between a early base model C6 corvette, and the Z51. This is not exhaustive, and doesn't mention the transmission and rear end gearing options you can get on the Z51, but gives you an overview of where things are and the differences if you wanted to upgrade with some Z51 parts on your base car.

    Interesting thing that I found out. I was doing an oil change on my wife's 08 non z51 base and noticed that where the oil cooling lines would come out there is a catalytic converter sitting just inches away. Doesnt really make much sence to have something that gets to 500-800 degrees or 1200 under heavy load just in close proximity to a cooling line is. Seeing that the corvette is a car that has alot of engineering, makes you wonder why they didn't put a heat shield there.

  • @jeremyreeder
    @jeremyreeder ปีที่แล้ว

    Do want to make an edit here about putting the lines back together. Put the clip back into the slot you pulled it from before connecting the lines. When you push the lines together the tapered face on the master cylinder side will expand the clamp, and you will hear an audible click when they snap together. This clip is just a larger version of the ones on the radiators for oil coolers, works the same way.

    • @nickflair2404

      It's very difficult but what I did was line the pin up and hold it in place with a finger, and used other fingers to pull the two lines together. Its difficult but I promise you'll get it after awhile, it requires some patience. If you can get a helper to maybe grab the other end through the driver side wheel well after removing the wheel that may get you across the finish line. Something i've always done if i get stuck working on a car is take a break, have a cold beverage, and come back to it. It always helps, good luck!

    Having isues with my C6 2005 corvette as well. It turns on fine everytime, but it has isisues turning off. When I go to shut the vehicle off all the eletronics and gauges turn off, but the engine remains on. I have to hit the engine off button at least 5-10 times for it to finally turn off the engine completely. Is this sensor going to fix this issue? Or do I need to replace the actually ignition switch?

    • @nickflair2404
      @nickflair2404 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Niko, in my case i was getting a message in the console saying "shift to reverse" so if you get that message its possible. In a pinch I would disconnect the battery to turn the car off, but in my case the engine cut off fine but the electronics didnt. Its possible a new ignition button may fix your issue and would be a easy thing to install. It may just be an issue with the bottom portion since turning on works fine. Maybe try to put it on accessory mode while the vehicle is turned off and see how the button acts.

      If you just want the braking and suspension components, like the sway bar, stiffer springs, shocks, and larger rotor I say go for it (that's what I did). They offer a good balance between handling and street, and it's a less expensive option over Z06 parts. The transmission cooler and oil cooler are a little more involved, earlier years have them integrated in the radiator. Power steering cooler is easy and replaces the "figure 8" lines. I should be making a new video on replacing the sway bars soon. Its a quick install and you'll feel the difference!
