Antonio Lotti is a fine but unknown composer who needs to be revived. His Violin Conncerto in E Flat Major is an admirable dedication to Joseph Bologne who was known as the"Black Mozart" for his tonal excellence and classical purity of his compositions in the Classical baroque style. He was a multifaceted personality and amazed his ad irers in Europe importantly France where his compositions were played and relished.

Great composer the Chevalier. Love his music. Listen to his Violin Concerto no.3 especially the slow Movement. He came through affluence to near penury and died of an illness as the finale. Bologne must find a top position amidst the world's classical repertoire. We are waking up late.

True masterpiece as an composer, violinist, man .... Such shame that in the time of Napoleone when he was forbiden to work. So many of his work was lost or destroyed. Still he is a living proff of what can be done with great talent& hard work! I just love his music!

That sounds like the orchestra is playing gut/nylon strings, which is the way it should be for this music. Tone is softer and more lyrical.

What a lively and pretty symphony; he has such good understanding of proportion and phrasing! Truly one of the greats of the Classical Period.

Doesn't it seem strange that in the correspondence of the Mozart family there is not a single mention of this "famous composer Bologna" or his music. It is foolish to say that Mozart was jealous and borrowed music from someone he did not even know or hear. I would like to read real documents about this composer, because his story looks very fabulous. But there is little truth in Chevalier’s film; they even composed the music specifically for the film, and did not take the original works of such a “famous” composer.
