    So what is the actual fix? Bending thr arm? Which way? I dont really undeetand at all. Neither of my rear height arjusters move. I can pull them out, away trom thr slots it would fal into, but they wont go forward or back to raise or lower. This seems to sorta show what thr pueces taken apart look like but i dont fukly undertaand thr fix bevaus I dont undertand whats wrong.

      Spray some wd 40 behind the adjuster arm while it is pulled out of the notch. Wait a while (hour) and do it again. Should free things up in a few cycles of that. Some times wd40 takes over night to soften Severe rust.

    ATG advised Honda about their lawnmowers locking up in reverse (backward movements) & they done nothing. Because they knew they have fooled many with $500.00+ junk after 3.7 years. The transmission designer should be fired long time ago but didn't. So now Honda, like Husqvarna, is out of business.

    I’ve had a Honda HRX 217 for many years now. I’ve put it thru a lot. I think it’s a fantastic mower. Just started to have some similar problems with the drive wheels. Most videos, on this subject, just talk about cleaning up the corrosion on the driveshaft/axle. Yours gives me another thing to check. Thank you!

    These machines come like this brand new. Garbage design. I use this hunk of junk to mow my parents lawn. Dad bought it before he passed from cancer and that is why he bought it. Thought it would be easier. Going forward yes but not backwards. So even brand new i used it and hated it. My back would be in pain by time i was done mowing from amount of force rewuired to pull it bsckwards. Loved going back home to use my basic old fashioned style mower

It's very expensive to replace the transmission. Maybe the changed the design or made the new ones from cheaper materials... We are getting probably 200-300 hours before failure on average across 7 mowers...

    The rear wheel height adjustment is not designed well at all. My approach is to lube it up and tip mower on one side then adjust wheel height. Then do the same on other side. The weight on the rear tires make it really hard to adjust. Much easier to tip it on it’s side. But be careful of fuel leakage.

    • @Double_Jinx
      @Double_Jinx 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      you should be able to take some weight with one hand on the bars and flip the height adjuster with 1 thumb if you have it set correctly

    • @xle4087
      @xle4087 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Up until 4 days ago i struggled with great effort to adjust the rear wheels. The adjuster would only move one way then both rear wheels froze. I tried to adjust them before going to repair shop and could not. I arrive and the service man moved the left and the right with ease. I was dumbfounded. He advised me to raise the mower a bit before moving the adjusters on the rear wheels. The right was always the hardest to adjust. I tried to the point where i would snap the adjuster if i continued, plus it was strenuous and i would become breathless. That day they moved in the wrong direction and froze. Lubricating them would help too.

    Thanks for this. Definitely not as easy on an older mower. My circlip pliers only just fit and would slip out rather than open the clip. And good luck if it's like mine and the inside circlip is stuck with the plier holes on the inside of the shaft! @@Double_Jinx Thanks, Steve. Managed to remove that one with large 90° pick levered against...forgotten, part of the machine and screwdriver. And there weren't any bolts on my one! The lever was rusted frozen to another pice. Now cleaned up and painted. And bought cheap pliers to hopefully nut the clips back easily, and work on the other side with ease. Which has more power?Does Honda still sell a hrc commercial mower in Australia. And if you could only choose one to run commercially which mower would you be taking to work? And why is that so? the point is the right mower is different for different people 216 with high lift blades throws grass better 217 drive is nicer, ive never broken one but havent been past 300 hours on a single machine 217 is a faster drive but waaay faster through a lawn with variable speed and mulching ability HRC? dont know the 217 goes out every day mowing lawns that were cut a few weeks ago the 216 only goes out for nightmare stuff and maybe a hedge clean up because of the better lift since ive had both its about 217 500 hours - 216 40 hours mostly as a back up machine
