3:35 you are 3rd lane on approach so you could have just entered into the 3rd lane on the roundabout but you choose 4th, that's why you had to exit wide. I would make my life easier and go into the 3rd lane on the roundabout, that way you can exit in the left most lane

You should see the one in Swindon - it's literally famous for being so confusing and has the nickname "the magic roundabout" - It's SIX roundabouts in one - one BIG one in the middle and FIVE smaller ones around the outside (round the outside) - it's HELLA confusing for those not used to it.

So I have to ask, if approaching a roundabout, you ask the student to take the first exit. Lane one is full of traffic, and its the only lane for the first exit. If the student uses the right lane, and goes all the way around the roundabout and takes the correct exit, would that be acceptable under test conditions, assuming all manoeuvres are safe and appropriate?

This is no joke! Don't tell your instructor the things you're scared of 😅 when I was learning, I told mine I hated hill starts and reverse parking. That man took me to a traffic light on a HILL every lesson, and made me reverse park in every place we stopped! I'm convinced driving instructors are sadists 🤣

Two solutions. Slow right down, indicate, and edge across one lane at a time. Crude but it works. The other is to take a note of what your landmark looked like and go round once more. Idk what the official stance is lol

I had my driving test this week in Mill Hill and had the exact same situation of going straight ahead from the Broadway in the left lane. I thought I had failed because my car was sticking out past the give way line ever so slightly as I was waiting for a spot in the traffic lights to come up. In the end when I made it across, someone from the middle lane had indeed cut across and taken the first spot and my back was sticking out into part of the keep clear 😢😢 Great news is I passed with 3 minors 👍🏻👍🏻 and the examiners feedback was that I did not hold up anyone coming round the roundabout and didn’t classify as a serious mark

Question, if you do a visual check and decide it is safe to do so, can you floor it to get away quickly and get to the exit. Indicate and do everything correctly, it would be safe if you know you can beat a slower car. People do this all the time and I see no problem. As long as you indicate and check blind spots and such.
